Ice cream flavors are bomb. I recommend getting the macaroon ice cream sandwich or in a waffle cone. I enjoyed the coffee and birthday cake ice cream flavors. Service is always top notch. Ambiance is also laid back.

Otherwise you will have to hunt for a parking spot. The outdoor seating is very attractive. It is large, clean and has wonderfully welcoming colors. It's nice to be able to relax and people watch from the street side. There is a fun chess set if you need a game to play. The inside of the shop is very clean, chilly and crisp. No excessive decir. The seating is wide open and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided a couple samples prior to purchase. There was plenty of staff on hand to handle the time frame. The ice cream was good. I had the Milky Way and Strawberry Cheese Cake. The Milky Way had a smooth chocolate flavor that somewhat imitated a Milky Way bar. The Strawberry Cheese Cake ice cream was outstanding. Very smooth and fresh. Large chunks of strawberries and a mildly sweet cake taste. Overall an interesting place to try for dessert. Especially if you want to something new or visit the downtown area.

If you like samples, Kilwins is the place to visit. I was offered samples of ice cream and fudge,…read morebut I passed on the fudge because it's one of the sweets I do not like. (Grainy, greasy chocolate-like substance? Hard pass.) Chocolate I do like: Peanut butter cups! But they need to be made with real chocolate (sorry, Reese's) and they need to be big, so that there's an almost equal proportion of peanut butter to chocolate. Milk chocolate peanut butter cups are great, but dark chocolate ones are even better. I got a huge dark chocolate peanut butter cup to take back with me to my hotel, which happened to be around the corner. It was so silky and smooth and just what I wanted. Kilwins is the place to find all kinds of chocolate treats, plus things like popcorn and peanut brittle, gourmet marshmallows, food gifts and lots more sweets. They also have a full ice cream parlor in the shop, where you can get ice cream by the scoop or made into a sundae or milkshake. This place has outdoor seating, so you can sit on the patio and enjoy your ice cream or chocolate while watching the people of Fort Wayne go by.

The employees were super friendly as soon as we walked in and offered samples of the different ice cream. I settled on the three rivers ice cream, which was clearly one of the best ice cream flavors I've ever had. There was a perfect blend of cream and sugar in the ice cream. The waffle cones are also embossed with the company name and are made fresh. The waffle cone itself was also probably the best in the Fort Wayne area. It had the perfect taste And texture to the cone. The only reason why I could not give it five stars is it is quite pricey, but what isn't in this economy. If you're ever in this area and want dessert, this would be a place to try.

The environment has a slightly industrial feel with just a hint of coziness, which gives it a modern but still comfortable vibe. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. It was alright -- nothing special, but given the size and volume of the place, I don't necessarily expect everything to be made completely fresh to order. It did the job. The service was also just alright. My interaction with the barista/bartender was brief and unfortunately a bit stale. She wasn't rude, just not particularly warm or memorable. Overall, it's a convenient place with a lot of options, but the experience itself was pretty average.

We were seated in a very awkward corner table for two where the tables were really close together. Since it was our Valentine's celebration, I would have been uncomfortable with the tables next to us having people at them because it didn't give you any privacy or space for private conversation. We did not get drinks or appetizers. Our meals were very good (salmon and chicken). The server was good but didn't refill my water and that' a big deal to me. Also, it's supposed to be an upscale place and they were out of paper towels in the bathroom. I feel like that is just basic service they should check on regularly.

Spoke + Ivy (west Main Street, FW) - another locally unique dinning experience that deserves a try…read more Spoke + Ivy is located on west Main Street - across the parking lot from Redwood Inn restaurant, if that helps. This restaurant is set in an old building that used to house a pharmacy. It retains the character of the building via the hardwood interiors, tall ceilings, large window views of the street and concrete/industrial ceilings. The interior is nicely decorated with inviting green, brown wood and black accent colors. Table settings were very attractive as well. You can park in the small side lot or on the street. Reservations are easily made on line. The team is very friendly and welcoming. All set the stage for a fun and relaxing dinner experience. Spoke + Ivy has a very small food and specialty cocktail menu. This is the second time we have been here. Each time we found the food to be delicious and the cocktails are uniquely designed. Here is a run down on the food items we ordered: -Focaccia Bread: a mildly sweet, dense/firm bread, slightly airy with a touch of herbs to accent. It is cut into blocks so it is easier to share. The vodka sauce is thin in consistency with a smooth Italian seasoned tomato appeal. Both make for a deliciously simple starter. -Lobster Roll Rangoon: decided to give this a try. It comes out as one large Rangoon - not individual pieces. This means that you must awkwardly cut this shareable into pieces. The slightly crispy & oily wrapper is similar to most crab Rangoon pieces. It has a nice crisp. The inside has shredded pieces of lobster. It was not filled with creme cheese sauce like traditional rangoons - just plain. The green lemon parsley sauce was simply outstanding! It's very fresh, moderately thick and has a slightly tart taste. This added "the sauce" to what the inside of the Rangoon was lacking. -Milanese: nicely breaded chicken that was very moist. The breading is slightly sweet. The fresh bed of arugula salad is a nice add -Prime Rib Pho: this sounded really interesting. It's a smaller/healthier dish. The medium rare prime rib was sliced thin and tender. There wasn't many pieces of prime rib in this dish. The add-ins were fresh and much like you would expect from a Pho dish - just not as much volume. The broth has a chili oil base that gives it a spicier flavor. Overall we really enjoy this relaxed atmosphere and character of the building. The delicious food and cocktails are excellent.

My wife and I are fans of Bistro Nota and have followed the career of its excellent chef, Aaron…read moreButts, from his time at Joseph Decuis in the early 2000s, where his cooking put helped put that restaurant on the fine dining map. His current venture, Bistro Nota, is great, but has a couple of flaws. First, let's talk about what's good. Mainly it's the food, which is uniformly and consistently excellent. Flavors and textures are spot on and portions are generous. The wait staff are well-trained, attentive, personable, and knowledgeable. Decor is basic, but the room is comfortable and the background music is well-chosen and at just the right sound level. The flaws are mainly two. First, the menu never changes. We've been patronizing the restaurant since it opened and are getting little tired of the same offerings. And for a person like myself, who doesn't eat red meat, the selections are even more limited as beef plays a major role on the menu. My conception of a fine dining restaurant (I don't know -- maybe Bistro Nota doesn't see itself as that) is one where you are offered a chance to discover something new at every visit. Bistro Nota doesn't fill that criterion. Second, the dessert menu is abysmal. Typically you have the options of a chocolate chip cookie or a blondie. From time to time the restaurant will offer a "special" dessert (there was a tasty pot de creme a couple of weeks ago), but they never stay around and you have to be pretty lucky to be there when one is offered. For a restaurant with such high quality apps and mains, the limited dessert menu seems like a major flaw. Right now Bistro Nota is very good, really nice, a reasonable option for those looking for some really tasty food. With some attention these two criticisms, Bistro Nota could really elevate itself to something special that would rival anything to be found anywhere in northeast Indiana.
