I've traveled the world and been to some of the best bars/nightlife destinations in the world. Point blank, Creps al Born was the most magical bar I've ever been to in the whole world. The true energy and magic is hard to capture with words and one that needs to be experienced. But I'll try. THE DRINKS: Cocktails themselves were top notch. Creative and fun and delicious. We ended up spending hours at the bar and one of the lovely bartenders took us through the menu, making many different ones. We loved them all. THE MUSIC: As a music lover, this is very important to me, and they had some of the best music (mostly Latin) playing. Fun, energetic, just the perfect music to create the perfect vibes. THE STAFF: They were lovely and added to the energy of the room as much as anything else did. The patrons fed off this energy and it wasn't long before the whole room was enjoying and seemingly on a similar energy level. THE ROOM: Not huge, not tiny, the perfect size to feel just right. The ambiance and design just worked perfectly and they had these awesome hanging lights that offer a bit of a light show throughout the night. We popped in around 5pm for a cocktail and ended up staying until midnight because it was just that good. Kudos to all those who have made this place what it is. Visiting Barcelona from Philadelphia, we loved Creps al Born! First of all, the Born district is such a cute area, I loved the history here in this neighborhood, and the "local" feel it has with all local shops and businessess. Coming through here late night, Creps al Born was the only restaurant open late after 1am. I think they closed at 3am! However, the line was so long to get in we decided we would come back the next day for breakfast. For breakfast, there was no line, and we sat right away at a high top near the bar. The restaurant is tiny, there's only a few tables around the bar. Our waiter was amazing! He was so sweet and really funny, kept us laughing the entire breakfast. We had 3 savory crepes, and 1 sweet nutella crepe. Everything was delicious. The savory crepes were great, especially the hangover cure one, with egg, cheese, prosciutto, yum. Delicious tasting, pretty presentation, and lots of yummy cheese. The drinks were also really creative, lots of crafty cocktails and mocktails. The prices were good too! The crepes were big and filling for only 10 EUR, give or take a few, and the sweet crepe was only about 6. Overall, fantastic experience! Fantastic place! I literally googled best dessert in Barcelona and this place was number two on the list, should be moved to number one! So my friend and I ordered crepes and my friend ordered a drink off the menu and I was craving a mudslide, which is a frozen coffee drink in the states. Freddy, the bartender, made me a similar version and it was amazing and delicious! The atmosphere of the entire place just screamed FUN! What a good find! I was headed to the Picasso Museum, but the line for free tickets (on Sunday) was way too long so we opted out for some crepes and cocktails instead. As we were leaving the alley from the museum, we stumbled upon Creps al Born. This place is very small and very, very crowded. My boyfriend and I were able to get a seat at the bar and it was quite the experience! When visiting, YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE ZOMBIE! Watching them make this drink is fun to watch and extremely dangerous to drink. My favorite cocktail here is Tea with Messi. Light and refreshing. Crepes were average. We asked for a suggestion and the bartender reccomended their popular Flambeada crepe. A waste of money! Pretty much a crepe (nothing inside) with sugar and Grand Marnier to flambé. (Not sure if I'm using that term correctly). It just tasted like liquor.. no texture or flavor in my opinion. So, I just went ahead and ordered a traditional Nutella, banana crepe. It was average, nothing outstanding. Aside from their average crepes, Creps al Born is a great, fun experience and their cocktails are very, very good that is well deserving of 5 stars. read more

Normally I will only have a Nutella crep. In my mind no others exists. But this time I thought let me try the salmon lox crep and boy was I a happy camper I did. It was filled with a yummy cream cheese and topped with a giant piece of smoked salmon then had capers and red onions on top. I enjoyed every single bite. The crep was really well made, the salmon was high quality and the toppings were the perfect touch. We did get the Nutella crep for the table and it was a great idea we all got a few bites and enjoyed a little something sweet. I also got the fresh squeezed juice and it was really tasty. Crepes and cocktails - how can you not like it here! This place is in the heart of the Uber Cool El Born area of Barcelona. I first found this bar when I visited 5 years ago and returned last month when I went back. It is cool for day and night, drinks and food. As the name says they specialise in crepes and do both sweet and savoury. The array of options is huge and on this occasion I had salmon and cream cheese. It was epic! My other big recommendation is the White Russian cocktail which is lovely and is a favourite of mine. I went to this little cocktail bar with a friend for my birthday while visiting Barcelona, and it was absolute perfect! I loved every bit of it. The bar is not very big, but it has a great cosy atmosphere. We got a seat at the bar which was quite lucky because minutes later the bar was packed (without being too crowded). We got to try different cocktails during the night with everything from passions fruit drinks to royal mojito with caba. And all of them were yummy! The staff were very casual and friendly yet still passionate in the making of the drinks. They had great humor but not in the tacky kind of bartender-way. And not least, the music was great - a mix of good old classics and new ones. I am in love with this place, and I am having withdrawal symptoms now that I am back home and not in Barcelona within walking distance of this amazing bar. I checked this place out under recommendation from my bartender from the night before and it definitely did not disappoint. The minute I walked in it felt like I stepped into my best friends party. The bartenders were swinging the hanging lights, throwing around martini shakers, and looked like they were just having tonnes of fun behind the bar. I had intended to come for the cocktails, but I ended up being tempted by the crepe menu and orders the sobrasada, goat cheese, and honey savory crepe which was amazing - delightfully light and thin crepe with just the right ratio of crepe to filling (the savory crepes are gluten free too!) I got the Mexcalita of their chalk board and the Green Fairy because I told the bartender that I wanted to try something with Cava in it. Both cocktails were unique and delicious. I spent a really long time sitting at the bar appreciating the details that went into the decor, watching the bartenders put on a show, people watching etc but was never made to feel unwelcome even though the tiny place was filling up and patrons were spilling into the square outside. The bartenders continued to be super attentive, giving me recommendations on things to see while I was in Spain and offering me water to go with the copious amounts of liquor I was downing. Must-Go bar in Barcelona! The drinks are delicious, and although they aren't the cheapest you can find, they are definitely worth it. Very creative, look great, and certainly pack a punch. Also fun decor and it's so fun to watch the bartenders swing the lights. Great music as well. We came on a Monday night around 9 for a couple of drinks, stayed for a couple of hours, as the night went on it got more and more crowded. Definitely get there early if you want a seat somewhere, the place is small. Can't comment on the crepes as I didn't try, but they smelled good! read more

This review is purely for drinks. Juan is an impressive and talented mixologist who could easily stand up to most in new York. Apparently these are 'Argentinian style' cocktails. In mixology there is artistry and also a concern for the customer's experience. Juan has an impressive control of both. He curates your experience and walks you through each step of the cocktail making process so you can appreciate the complexity of flavor once it's ready. He chose the 'Argentine swizzle' for me, which he characterized as a taste of Venezuela. It contains, as I recall, muddled mint and lime, gin, fernet and more awesome stuff in the drink and comes with a small cup of dulce de leche. He instructs you to coat your tongue with a bit of dulce de leche before drinking your drink to round out the acidity of the lime and freshness of the mint. The effect has a bouquet of wonderful complexity, first viscous and sweet, then acidic and bitter, then fresh, from dessert to salad, from pain to pleasure. Just what I look for in a drink. I'm sure a place like this would be mobbed by alienating hipsters in new York and I'd be cowering over my drink, but the place has Barcelona's characteristic friendly openhandedness. I chatted with a couple to my right who were mercifully curious about Brooklyn. The next drink Juan recommended is the Popeye sour, quickly understanding my love of 'complex' drinks (or 'well balanced' as he says) that are emblematic of the bar I'm at. This drink contains, as I recall, muddled spinach, ginger, lime, and the wonderful touch of smoky mezcal sprayed on top like bitters. This drink plays the magic trick of making you think you are about to get drunk on smoky Mexican liquor, but then you are overtaken by the sweetness of orgeat, the acidity of lime, the spice of ginger, and a light vegetal spinach flavor. It is a sensory 'meal' in itself. And I believe new Yorkers would probably pay through the nose to try it. I've been lightly tipsy off these tremendous drinks for an hour, and hope that before their statute of limitations is over, I'll make some friends. read more

Caught me off guard when I walked up! I searched for desserts in the area and my wife wanted crepes, so we came here. I didn't read many of the reviews or details, so when I walked up to a bar, I was confused. Fortunately, we made it in about 30 minutes before they stopped serving crepes. We got the dulce de leche con platano. That really hit the spot for dessert! Super tasty, better than the crepes I tried in Paris. The bar was very lively and packed. Great throwback music! While eating my crepe we noticed some very interesting cocktails being served, so I decided to order "whatever drink that is on fire" which happened to be called the zombie, a passionfruit and rum drink. My wife saw this place as we were meandering the streets of the Born and alerted to the fact this small place made crepes. That was all she needed. Inside, a group of young men sat at the bar with drinks and crepes and were enjoying their company and broadcasting their love of the experience they were having, and it hooked us into staying awhile. I had one of the best Bloody Marys ever and my wife got her desired crepe. They have basic crepes with a couple ingredients, to some more interesting concoctions--a teeny bit more in price, but huge portions and more ingredients. I love their savoury crepes--I haven't been able to find a better savoury crepe yet. Their sweet crepes are great, too, but I haven't had them as often because I am usually far too full from a couple of savoury ones (my husband and I can do with two--but sometimes we'll get a third to split). This place is amazing. I spent five days in Barcelona and every night started out with drinks at Creps al Born. The bartenders are true mixologist and really put their heart into the drinks they are making. Every drinks is specifically crafts and has ingredients once would never think would taste good in a drink such as bell peppers, BBQ sauce and heavy milk. The establishment is full of locals that seem to be known by the bar staff. During our visit, the bar was announced the best bar in Spain. It's off the tourist path, but well worth finding. A rather unassuming bar in trendy El Born, Creps al Born turns out to be a knight in shining armor in the emerging BCN 'craft' cocktail trend. Mostly thanks to Argentinian Juan (Think Mr Brainwash) who has brought his South American 'mad scientist' vibe to this cozy food & drink bar a couple clicks down from El Born CC, locals & foreigners alike will love the experience. Sadly we only discovered it on our last night, and totally by happenstance, it actually became our favorite drinking experience during our BCN visit...mostly due to the spirited conversation based on Juan's detailed knowledge of spirits and thirst for experimentation. They also offer one of the deepest spirits selection in town so if you're graving a certain type of gin, rum, tequila, mescal, etc., they probably have it.
