I was very happy when I found out that a new coffee shop supplied by Allpress opened around the corner of my office. Since Bliss Coffee launched, I have been heading there for lunch about once a week. Besides coffee, they also have a small lunch menu, mostly sandwiches, but also some other dishes. The staff are very friendly and the place is bigger than it looks at first. It seems that Bliss Coffee quickly became a destination for locals either living or working in the neighbourhood. Before Bliss Coffee opened, I found it hard to get a good flat white in my lunch break. Using Allpress beans, I think they are definitely one of the best coffee shops in Wimbledon. If you like good coffee and are nearby, don't look any further.

I was strongly recommended the brew special but actually I think I would have preferred something like my friend had - the chorizo folded eggs i.e. with a little more kick. The brew special is a classic combo of ham, cheese and pesto which I loved years ago but now wouldn't be my first choice. Still it was well executed with beautifully cooked poached eggs on sourdough bread. Our breakfast took a long time to come but the service was otherwise notably excellent - our server was attentive, friendly and helpful consistently, meaning we had constant water top ups, updates on the food situation and were able to get the bill quickly before our parking ran out. She was great and an asset to this nice cafe.

Cheap watery potatoes, the strands of cabbage are a bit weird at breakfast and it wasn't seasoned. But as I tucked into my grub I started to get it. The bubble & squeak was comfort food of the highest order. It smooshes into egg, beans and greasy mushrooms a treat, and feels homey, nourishing, plain and old fashioned. My trembling, smooth poached egg was so delicate and perfectly round that it looked positively indecent, and I got to wondering why poached eggs never appear in Elizabethan sonnets. This place is a good example of an old-fashioned British workman's cafe, but it doesn't push any boundaries, hence my not giving it the full mark. Also, it will take a second visit to see if I was a bit carried away by feel of the place. I mean, the unseasoned fried mash & cabbage might only be good if while eating , like me, you consciously evoke and wallow happily in imagined wartime nostalgia, picture a poor Victorian family tucking into some when their dad got home from the mines, etc. Without that, it might, *might* just be some weird mash & cabbage on an otherwise normal plate of breakfast. Mica cafe was just around the corner from where I was staying and it had some decent reviews so I thought I'd give it a go. Staff in there are really friendly and it is a real old school cafe but the quality isn't compromised. I had a bacon, sausage and egg baguette and a black coffee (just as I'd wanted ;-)) and it was great. Affordable pricing too as that cost me about £6. Great spot.
