Theodore Luff, who fell in love with the breezy charm of the Florida Keys during a visit in the 1920s. He built a bungalow inspired by the island spirit with limestone porches & a chimney right off East Palmetto Park Road. That is the bungalow we visited today! Before becoming a seafood restaurant, this was the 1st home of the Boca Raton Historical Society. There were many other businesses here & eventually was going to be demolished. Arturo Gismondi a restauranteur known for La Nouvelle Maison, Trattoria Romana & the Biergarten stepped up. Luff's Fish House opened in 2017 after a tremendous renovation, with the original chimney windowpanes restored. We left the car with the complimentary valet and were seated on the large patio. There was a cool breeze under the oversized umbrellas. We started with margaritas that were delish and the perfect accompaniment to our $1 oysters. They served over ice & were large, juicy and very fresh. For dinner we shared the spring rolls and a lobster quesadilla appetizers, both were overflowing with lobster meat and fabulous. Service was impeccable, food was delicious, prices were reasonable for the quality of our meal, , setting beautiful & we will be back!

We've been here and eaten dinner in their backroom. We've brought visiting friends and family. We've been here over the years for various lobster specials and even sushi and during happy hours, too. This was the first time we'd been back in some time. It was a nicer and quieter experience coming for lunch during the week. We were able to spread out at a slightly larger table. There are still two kitchens, so it gets a bit complicated when you order. The food comes out whenever its ready, and from different locations, so you don't always get your appetizer first -- sometimes it comes with your meal. Next time, I'll try to remember this. The sodas are not brand name. They are not the best nor close to the originals. I think the carbonation might have been off, as well. Today, they had a special on oysters -- they were half priced. I ordered some peel n eat shrimp to come first so I could share this with my husband. And some Nola oysters -- half a dozen "grilled" New Orleans style for my main when he had his lunch. Instead, everything for me came out all at once. And the shrimp -- which I'd assumed would be cold -- were served hot. That was my mistake, I guess, not to verify this when I ordered. That being said, the shrimp swimming in garlic butter and a tad messy to eat, were a nice large size and quite good. They were served with a couple lemon wedges and a small container of cocktail sauce. The oysters, however, were miniscule and basically some hard melted cheese on a tiny bit of something difficult to taste/find. They didn't taste grilled, either. If we hadn't been paying only $10 for the six of them, I would have been even more disappointed. My husband got their shrimp and chips. The fries were served well done as ordered. The shrimp were in a thick batter. The dish came with some tartar and cocktail sauce. He said they were okay (and that my shrimp were much better than his). We had good service, and everyone was friendly and smiling.

Working in the mall, there's on a few food options so we've been here several times. One bonus is they give you a frequent customer card. 4 punches and you'll get a free meal. On the day that I went to redeem mine, I ordered two orders. My total was $24, I said shouldn't there be $12 off because I have a free one? He points and shouts at me "food here is expensive, I gave you the discount already". Well sir, a chicken teriyaki is not $24!! So I asked him to look at the receipt, he responds "stupid fu**ing machine, always has problems they could get it fixed but they won't, I hate this place" now he proceeds to give me $8 and some change in cash from the register.... ok .... so it's ok to make a mistake, yell at a customer, and then curse? If you hate your job so much why don't you quit? I didn't catch his name, but he's a petite man in his late 20's. Blonde hair with blueish green highlights through it, stands about 5ft tall. I'm outraged, even after my fiancé told his manager, he's still working there and has not apologized to me!

If you're driving a larger truck, be aware that parking is available but pretty tight. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the host, who was incredibly friendly and escorted us to our table. Our waitress was just as wonderful--attentive, personable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. There was music playing everyone there was enjoying themselves. Since it was Tuesday, we both ordered the all-you-can-eat fried catfish special for $21.99. They start you off with hush puppies and coleslaw, and when your meal arrives, you get your choice of a side. We both chose the fries. The portions were generous, with plenty of crispy fried catfish on the plate. The fish itself had great flavor, was perfectly crispy, and wasn't over-breaded. The hush puppies were delicious, and the French fries were cooked just right. My husband, who considers himself a bit of a coleslaw connoisseur, really enjoyed the coleslaw. I wasn't as impressed with it, but that's just my personal preference. My biggest disappointment was the tartar sauce. For a restaurant that's been around as long as Catfish Dewey's, I expected a homemade tartar sauce. Instead, it came in a pre-packaged container and tasted overwhelmingly of onion. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. If I were rating everything individually, I'd give the catfish a 7/10, the hush puppies an 8/10, the fries an 8/10, the coleslaw a 5/10, and the tartar sauce a 0/10. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, especially the friendly service and the crispy catfish. While it wasn't the best fried catfish we've had, it was still a good meal. As I always say, don't let my opinion make your decision. Everyone's taste is different, so go try it for yourself and form your own opinion. You might love it!

Although they were busy, we didn't have to wait too long for our food! Our server, Phillip, who truly looks like Ryan Gosling was PHENOMENAL!!! He was on top of EVERYTHING and had the best personality and demeanor!!! The fish & shrimp and sweet tea were AMAZING; however, the sides need a little bit more work but were edible. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5.
