Wanted to go with a local credit union. This was is so bad on so many levels. Any transaction is more difficult than if it were in 1985. Every account has hidden fees. Everything is incredibly slow AND you can't even call a specific branch. I left something at one branch but they only have a generic number and the central operator couldn't get anyone at the bank at 2pm to answer the phone!!! I could go on and on about all the failures but after giving them many chances, we will pull our accounts. read more

I've been a member for 46 years. Since 1979. Back to the days of Director Ed Kranetz and 4 digit account numbers. I've always bragged about the people and service... until recently. The automated system is atrocious and extremely intentionally difficult to reach a live representative. Once on hold it routinely takes 30 minutes to get pucked up. Their verification process is absolutely outrageous. The last 2 times I called last week, days apart , two different women were unable to help me because they could not verify me. They asked me questions they didn't have the answers to so I couldn't possibly be successful. I was told they could arrange a video call back. Both times I requested a supervisor or manager and was denied. "Maybe one can call you back in 24 to 48 hours", I was told. They both acted like they were doing me a favor and talked to me like a child rather than a 61 year old veteran. My 2 military daughters in their 20's, both new members of Navy Federal CU, are treated like solid gold. My wife works for USAA and I've been a member for 20 plus years and am treat fantastically. I will be paying off or moving my CC debt from CUW ASAP and sadly leaving this now horrible institution. My dad and granddaddy signed me up out at Luke AFB when I turned 16 to buy my 1st car. It's been a great relationship for many decades. But the current management has completely lost site of those they serve and customer service in general. read more

This establishment is a joke. The online banking is a nightmare to set up and log in to, the automated system is ridiculous and doesn't give the correct balance due on a loan, making loan payments is ridiculous as well. I paid off my loan in full via a transfer from my regular bank (as I've had to do with all of my payments because setting it up directly with them was impossible), then I received another bill for interest because I couldn't get a payoff amount. They couldn't verify me over the phone so wanted to set up a video call. Convoluted nonsense to pay a stupid bill. Never again. Don't do any loans or lines of credit here it isn't worth the headache. read more

I was considering switching to this credit union, but the 5 min application turned into 2 days and them lying to me and requesting an actual social security card to verify who I am after they checked my credit, and asked for bills with my address, and my driver's license. You can see everything you need on my credit report. I called the SS office to verify they were lying. My SS# is fine. No flags. And they couldn't believe they were asking for a card to open an account. It's just a ploy to get you not to sign up, which makes no sense. I'm trying to give you my money, not take out a loan. The same as every other bank but somehow their portal is worse???? Random charges pending for weeks with no REAL description of what they're for/who they're from and they aren't willing to help you figure it out either. Literally impossible to accomplish anything online (their help page looks like a scam site and game my phone a virus). You're better off trying your luck begging the bankers for help even though they won't do anything. Also, the app refuses to save any login info so you have to manually reenter everything every single time you need to look at something, whether or not you've chosen to "remember this phone." The epitome of "I don't care, give me your money," and one of the biggest reasons in years that I want to thrash my card and shove all my money in my mattress. I have been a member since 2008 and over the last year this credit union has gone down hill. They have decided to spend thousands and thousands remodeling their facilities and their customer service is below standard, including their phone customer care.. You are on the phone every time for over 10 minutes.. Their recordings state you have 30 seconds and then it is another 5 minutes.. Their local offices in Avondale have had poor customer service. then they caused issues with my main account after 17 years, and then, I had to close it because they didn't correct the issue.. When I closed it, I didnt realize that I Had that account set up with multiple vendors paying on online and then, that caused a snow ball effect. Then to top it off, they make you change your app password after 16 years, then, they make you do these follow up sign ins and they never work.. Customer service gives you wrong information Friday I was in a pickle and realized my house payment was coming out on Saturday so I called the bank I already had account protection it would have cost me $25 so I decided to get a credit card so I wouldn't have to pay the $25 customer service told me it would be just interest so today I look at my accounts and sure enough they charged me $60 for a cash advance so I called customer service and they said they didn't charge me anything I couldn't look at my account right then so later when I could look at my account sure enough they changed me $60 so I called customer service and they said because it was a cash advance that was the charge and there was nothing they could do about it shm you have to watch everyone read more

If you want a bank that will charge you for every little thing from money orders, cashier checks or a transfer fee over $4000 in one day this is the bank for you. I joined CUW because they gave me the best deal on a vehicle loan. So good that I have actually had 3 vehicle loans with them and it was great for that. Then they offered me a credit card and saving so I did it. But back to the bad stuff. I sold my other house and wanted to pay off my credit card ($6700) and put $80,000 in my savings. I was told my limit is 4,000 a day or 6,000 a month. Then told they could do the 2 transfer for me at $15 each after they just charged me 2 months prior to get 2 cashier checks for the new house i bought. And if I want to make a large transfer or payment in the future I would get charged for that. Meanwhile chase and capital one let me make $12,000 transfer/payment to pay off credit cards and didn't charge me or stop me from doing it. Never thought I would write a bad review for a company who stopped me from paying my debt or wanted to charge me to to take a payment to pay off my debt I had with them. Mind blowing After al this I have emptied my money out of credit union west and took my $80,000 else where. I tried to call and close my savings since i was no longer planning to use it. I am now told I'm not allowed to close it. so I cant pay off my debt with out being charged, cant transfer my money (over 6k a month at a time) into or out of my savings with out being charged and I'm being forced to keep a saving account open that I don't want. do yourself a favor and run from credit union west! I plan on paying off my credit card with credit union west and throwing it away. that way they take it back and i do not get penalized on my credit for closing it. i doubt it will happen but if someone from credit union west decides to read this and has the ability to make this right i will be more than happy to update this review. read more

Do your best not to get a loan from this bank. They will not help you set up auto-pay and they charge you $15 to make a payment over the phone. Their app is not user friendly and their online bill pay is terrible with lots of bugs. I'm actively trying to refinance my loan with any other financial institution. Waste of time and an inquiry on my credit report. Was sent a preapproval letter to refinance an existing car loan with another credit union. For some reason credit union west requires you to play 20 questions, and if you get the questions wrong, no refinance. Absolute waste of time and completely insipid process. Don't waste your time and an inquiry like I did. I ended up refinancing successfully with PenFed instead online in 10 minutes. With zero stupid questions to answer by some brain dead representative. Steer clear of this bank. Judging by their reviews, it seems customer service is not a term they're familiar with. read more

Great Customer Service!!!! My Aunt had an issue while she was on vacation with her account be double charged by a hotel. When she contacted her bank, they attempted to reach out to the hotel and the hotel's corporate office to resolve the issue. When they could not get it resolved, the bank reviewed the account and refunded her the money. The bank said they will address the corporate office of the hotel to get a refund. Within 5 hours of attempting to resolve the issue, the bank chose to take a proactive approach and refund her money immediately. read more

I wrote a review on May 6, 2023 regarding the inconsistent policies of Credit Union West. The first check had a 7 business day hold placed on it by management. The second check had a 9 day hold placed on it which was May 12, 2023. Today is May 12th and still the hold is on my account. The check i deposited was on my other Business account at Chase, and it cleared on May 3rd. The management of this organization have totally lost sight on the fact that the credit union is owned by the Members. Board of Directors of the Credit Union are elected by the Members. The management of Credit Union West appear to be like some large banks and not demonstrate the philosophy and actions of a Co-Op!! Credit Unions were originally a Co-Op, formed to compete with Ruthless Banks and assist ALL Members with their financial needs! Credit Union West has lost it's self along the way. It appears Credit Union West is closed up, I'm trying to find out if they have filled bankruptcy or are planning to , I been trying to get my money out of 3 savings account I have and never received an ATM card so can't use the ATM machine, the one at Dunlap is not working, I can go online and see my money but that's about all. All the branches are closed and can't get my funds. Filed a claim with NCUA but may take years to get my money, hope not. Plan on filing complaint with Attorney Generals Office tomorrow. If you have investments, money markets or funds better check and make sure you can get your funds out of Credit Union West before it's too late. read more

Glacially slow. I am a new customer at Bank of the West. A lot of my transactions are online. They take FOREVER. Transferring money from a checking account (with them) to a savings account (that I just opened with them) takes forever. Why? The money is with them. It's not like they have to "verify" that it's with them. They say they can't do anything over the weekend. Why? Do the computers need a break over the weekend? All I get as an explanation is that "it takes time." Other banks don't take this much time. They seem friendly in person, but the glacially slow transactions are driving me nuts. I got a hold on a check I wrote to myself from another bank. I KNOW the money was taken out (because it came from an account with another bank). The money is quickly swept out of my other bank's account, so I know they have it, but they refuse to deposit it in BOTW for ten days? A little annoyed I was declined a UTV loan because I have commission income that they are unable to use??? I have been in banking for over 15 years, in every lending position you can imagine. From banks to credit unions. The underwriting guidelines at the CU are worse than applying for a mortgage loan. I have been receiving commission income for the last 8 years and because I've only been with my recent employer for 1 year, they are not able to use the commission income...even though I've been receiving this type of income for over 8 years. They wouldn't even take previous pay stubs or tax returns like you can provide for a mortgage loan which is for hundreds of thousands of dollars but not for a $20k UTV loan?? lol Kind of a joke and a waste of time to be honest and now an inquiry on my credit. Today 2nd car in line over 30 minutes to get service and leave. One women working the one drive up the other lane finally someone came up. Boy what a terrible experience! We are closing the account! They put checks on hold for 9 days so that you can't touch the funds. They NSF a $90 payment through my BILL PAY when I had $4,500+ in the account. I have spoken to the manager and the assistant manager on multiple occasions but their reasoning is that they treat all "new accounts" this way. My husband went to deposit a government check and we were told that too would be on a 9 day hold. When I spoke to the assistant manager she told us that they have received Government NSF checks and that's why. Basically these people keeping telling me in round about ways that they don't trust new customers. Like I told the manager my credit is perfect and I had much more money in the account then the $90 so it is they who didn't earn my trust. I am closing my accounts and looking for something else. Won't waste my time on a Credit Union that doesn't actually function correctly. Wouldn't want to endanger my credit further by using a company that won't process BILL PAY till they "feel" something about new customers. read more

I had a check I needed to cash and they said they couldn't do it cuz they didn't know if the funds were actually there and normally when I show up there is roughly 6 or 7 employees working but only 1 helping customers. Worst experience for the entire process. Please save yourself and avoid this place. Two and a half hours to get approved for a loan when I was a previous customer. You would think that would speed up the process. During that long wait no one bothered to tell me about title fees or anything else. After talking to a manager it was very clear that he did not care about any of my issues or frustrations. When I finally went to pay off the balance and close my account, somehow they said there was a remaining balance of 40 cents. If I paid the balance remaining in full I should not owe a penny! Again no one cared. I was then misinformed again that I should receive my title in approximately 2 days since its been paid, only to wait two weeks and call and be properly informed of the actual process. All in all it was a huge nightmare and no one wanted to make any effort to make a better experience. read more

i continue to have an ugly experience with the manager at this branch. yesterday i asked him to explain the criteria for the restrictions he has placed on my account to no avail. the manager actually refused to answer my question by staring at me in silence as i waited for some explanation. this man conducts himself in a patronizing, smug manner and is obviously unconcerned with the inconveniences he creates for customers. extremely rude. read more
