This business is a fee driven bank. Not a traditional credit union. They bought out uaw credit union & now are bombarding these accounts with so many fees. And now paper statement is $5 and now there's a fee for checks. All of the perks of establishing yourself with a credit union, are now gone. Anyone seeking to do financial business with them will not be happy. I implore you to establish a relationship with a bank in your area, where the interest earning rates aren't something you have to jump through hoops to attain. Credit union 1 does not care about its customers. I have found better rates at my local bank and they don't charge $5 for a paper statement either. I never had a problem with the workers out of Matteson location. I just don't like the way the company has chosen to fleece its account holders. Not so long ago, it used to be credit unions were the way to go. With credit union 1, that is no longer the case. Forced to choose a star. But officially, the entire organization doesn't deserve any at all. read more

Russell Meyer 2/3/2026 - 10:20 AM I just went on my account to see how much interest I paid on my car loan with you that was paid off last Nov. 2025. Apparently, you cannot provide me with that information. This was the second loan I had with you over the span of the last TEN YEARS! What I did notice is that you are charging me a $5.00 a month savings only fee. I called customer service to complain that I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED that you would or could do that. CS claimed that I should have downloaded an app to avoid this fee. I Was never notified of this either. I am extremely disappointed with you stealing $10.00 for me over the last two months without my knowledge!!!!! I told CS to close my account, and I won't be doing business with you anymore!!! I will also give you a bad review!!! read more

If I had option of not giving any stars , I could have made use of that. This review is for the Credit union 1 bank. I don't have any complain about the Branch as such, but the bank customer service on phone is disgusting, ridiculous and shameful. When you call the branch, it always goes to the Fudging "LUNA" automated irritating system. You can't get any work done through LUNA. read more

We were in a time crunch and the auto loan that we needed to finish was being handled by another party by the company. That individual went out of the office unexpectedly and Antonese was helpful in ensuring our auto loan continued to move along and was finalized. She continued to follow-up and kept the communication fluid. We appreciate her services. read more

Antonese Evans made purchasing a car from CU1 very easy! Once I found the car I wanted to buy, she was super helpful and super fast with supplying me with the forms I needed as well as contacting the dealer on my behalf to make sure the numbers were correct. I would not hesitate to use CU1 for another vehicle loan, but only if Antonese is my loan officer. read more

The short version, they are not transparent with auto loans. Absolute waste of time. Antonese Evans was not transparent or thorough with the process and ultimately her lack of attention to detail will waste your time. When applying it was mentioned that one of us was self employed, but was asked for pay stubs to verify income. Later I was told I needed tax returns because the other applicant was self employed and she was unaware. I told her that on the initial application it was marked that they were self employed. Again, in the application I clicked the box saying I knew what car I was planning on getting. Not at ANY point was I asked what dealership it was coming from. Only after the both of us created accounts, asked the dealership for a bill of sale, talk to my work about taking time off to travel to pick up the car, send over to Antonese 2 references EACH like its 1998, 2 paystubs EACH, provide proof of insurance on a vehicle we do not own just to be told the dealership WAS NOT ON THEIR LIST. When I asked why I was not told this initially she responded with "we do not disclose the dealerships we work with." That's fine, why didn't you tell me any of this? "it's to protect you and us." I get that but why did you not tell me because I knew what dealership it was coming from. We played this cat and mouse game for a while running in circles when she kept insinuating it was my fault for never asking. I finally said "I can't ask if I didn't know there was a list. You knew there was a list, and I told you I knew where I was getting the car from you should have asked me." She replied with, "I didn't know it was coming from xxx motors, if I did I would have told you. But now that I have the bill of sale I'm telling you, it's not on our list." After that she put herself on repeat for 5 minutes until she knew there was no way out of it. Followed that I said to her, "what difference does it make since you'll be cutting me the check." To which she replied, "OH we don't cut you the check we cut the dealership a check." Nope, thats not what you said to me you said yesterday, and I quote, "we can cut you a check by tomorrow." Antonese said, "Just because I said we will cut you a check tomorrow doesn't mean it will have your name on it. We only cut a check to the dealership." I'm sorry, when you say we will cut YOU a check most people will assume that check will be made out to them. Alas this went on for a couple more minutes until she asked me to stop yelling. I said I wasn't yelling, but apparently it was fine when she was giving me sass the whole time trying to point fingers at me. And this was when her entire demeanor changed. So why did I open TWO brand new accounts, and do a hard credit pull for a loan I cannot use? read more

Credit Union 1 has changed my life! When I left my first positive review I didn't know that they were going to exceed expectations even further. Ms. Shaniece Clausill has out done herself on the customer service with immaculate results. I am happy and safe to know that I'm with this Credit Union. They were able to trust and give me the opportunity to trade my vehicle in for a beautiful Mercedes Benz. I was just telling her that I haven't had a life changing moment with the banks in over 20 years. I finally can say that my money is working for me and with great people like Shaniece by your side you will get to your goals sooner than later. Thank you for everything! read more

Very difficult to get them on the phone. My waiting time was 1 hour. Customer service is zero.

Staff is friendly, but I have seen better auto finance rates from regular banks! I thought credit unions were supposed to be for its members? Every member service offered comes with a fee or "third-party" fee! I thought my banking would be less of a hassle!! read more
