The phone rang twice, and Will answered. He was calm, professional, and immediately put me at ease. He placed me on a brief hold, and within moments, he confirmed that Amber was available to help us. I was so relieved! Amber arrived on time and was absolutely wonderful. She is dynamic, talented, and has such a warm demeanor. She created beautiful face paintings for all the kids and even some of the adults! Her skill and patience with each design made the day extra special for everyone. Thanks to Amber and Will, a day that started with stress turned into a fantastic experience. I wanted a couple of faces painted a couple of hours before a Dead of the Dead party. In my home. Three face painters declined. I called and they were very pleasant to deal with. I texted my e-mail address to May. Dan, her husband, sent over a contract requiring half deposit. I completed the contract and requested their Venmo info. They texted that and I paid my deposit- half the cost. In the end there were 6 faces painted and it took 3 hours. I paid the balance via Venmo when the faces were done. Everyone was thrilled with the results. I highly recommend May!!!!

From the moment she arrived, I barely had to do anything. She kept the kids entertained the entire hour and made it feel effortless. Moana (Lily!) was incredible. She played freeze tag with the kids, taught them a short hula dance, and led a parachute game that had everyone laughing and fully engaged. She even came prepared with a craft: the girls made princess crowns and the boys made superhero masks. Every child was included and having a blast. She took so many sweet photos with the kids and made each one feel special. I was so impressed with Lily's energy, professionalism, and warmth. Several parents came up to us afterward to say it was the best party they or their child had ever attended. This wasn't our first experience with Princess Parties of DC, and it's clear why they're so wonderful. The owner, Jacklyn, truly cares about the quality of her performers and the experience they create for families. I recommend them to everyone I know. If you're on the fence, book them. The moment my daughter and her friends saw Elsa coming down the sidewalk, they were immediately enamored. We held our party at our townhome, and even with what I felt may be limited space, Elsa was able to have the girls do a parachute game, crafts, and singing. The girls all chatted with Elsa like they had been lifelong friends, with her responding to every question they had for her. A group of 6 and 7 year old girls have a ton of questions, haha! In my mind, I was picturing a few KISS inspired faces, a David Bowie lightning bolt and that's about it. Arla was able to stretch the imagination and was able to provide so much more -- from demonic lizards to intricate and beautiful curliques -- she was able to please all types of personalities. Convincing a room full of adults to get their face painted is a feat in itself, but Arla was able to make a true believer out of the entire group. As an aunt of a three year old girl and sister to twelve year old twin boys - - I am no stranger to face painters, but Arla is truly something special! Not only is she extremely talented she is quick to boot! Within a blink of an eye, she was able to create a true masterpiece on my face. I am glad to have encountered them again -- and it being Arla herself at that! I went to the Persian New Year festival, Nowruz, where she and her team were painting TONS of children and adult faces throughout the entire day from 11am-5pm. During this time I got to speak to her about how she got into the business and how she had retained it so well. It is truly amazing how one falls into a career of something of this nature. She told me she used to be a professional clown, and won a makeup kit set at a convention she was at that was worth $200. From there she had perfected the art, and has been doing it now for over 25 years. We had a good laugh when she told me her husband was going to be left at home while she gets to work on 2 cruise ships in the next two weeks doing her business abroad in the Caribbean. Clearly she is renowned beyond the quadrants of Washington DC and the VA/MD areas. She has a great personality with quality and is very patient with kids, especially the younger crowd. That was demonstrated with the child before me who was excited right up until she sat in front of Arla. Instead of doing her face; Arla went on to do the hand of the tot's mother who joined in with a good laugh while the child was waling. As far as my face goes -- she immediately asked me if she could paint a necklace on my neck. I obliged. In addition to that, she painted my face.
