Wahoo Pools - Backyard Pool with sunshelve and barstools. Freedom, WI

Wahoo Pools

(3 reviews)

If you are in the market for a pool, and want a company that can deliver on what they say they can…read moredo then Wahoo Pools is for you. Shaun and Bill were able to make our dreams for the backyard come true. They delivered excellent customer service, no matter what time of the day, they were extremely responsive. What was even more exciting for our family was the vision they had for our backyard as they were doing the project as they continued to make it even better than we could have imagined. Thnx for ensuring we have an opportunity to create memories that will last forever.

I want to share my frustration with Wahoo Pools (specifically the owner of the company Shawn…read moreSchoen). Despite the fact that my pool and yard is now (FINALLY) 99% finished, I need to ensure my story is shared to protect any other people from going with this company. Here are some of the issues we had in our 11.5 month process of putting in our dream pool. I apologize for the super long post. 1. We were told that the pool would take 4 weeks to come in and 2-3 weeks to complete the job. We paid over 2/3 of the total cost of the project last July and no work was even started for 2+ months. 2. When the pool was lifted into the ground they cracked it (this did get fixed but slowed the process). 3. The plumber caused a small gas leak and when we notified the company about this they said they would take care of it. 2 weeks went by and nothing, Mitch got someone to come fix it and we paid for the repair ourselves. 4. We were told to pay the rest of the money when they put the pool in the ground, the next day they told us they weren't going to complete the project until spring. They had all the money for the project and weren't going to do anything for 6 months. We asked for money back to hold until Spring and while Shawn told Mitch he would, he never showed up all winter to give it to him. They had numerous appointments set up and Shawn would always come up with a new crazy excuse for why he couldn't come and bring us our money. It never happened. 5. When we started the project, Shawn owned California Pools (which was who our contract was through). Mitch called California Pools Corporate over the winter because of his frustration. Shortly after that phone call Shawn and California Pools split ways and Shawn told Mitch it was his fault because of his complaint. Mitch called California Pools to verify this story and they told him that was absolutely not true and the split had been in the works for months. 6. This spring they told us that it wouldn't be until July before they got someone to do concrete around our pool for decking BUT if we paid $5,000+ more and switch to pavers we could get it done faster. Shawn told Mitch he would pay for a little bit of it himself to help out...he never did. 7. Now it was my turn to deal with this crap all by myself....they finally started working on things after Mitch died (weird). First issue I had was that my heater wouldn't work right, it kept shutting off. The company couldn't figure it out so my neighbor got a heating/cooling guy to come look at it and he told me that it was hooked up wrong and it was very dangerous...he fixed it for me. Luckily the company paid for this bill. 8. I decided to add an autocover after Mitch's death for added safety purposes. I gave them half down to order the cover on May 30th with a promise/contract that everything would be done 6/30. On June 24th there was still no plan for cover install. I asked Shawn for proof of the order from the company which he couldn't provide me for 2 days and actually responded in a text to me telling me to "stop talking to him like a child and threatening him" after me asking for 2 days for proof he didn't steal my money. I ended up calling the company myself and they had the order but he didn't order it until 2+ weeks after he had my money for it. 9. I just found out recently that Shawn has used Mitch's death as an excuse for why he wasn't working on other customer's pool projects because he and Mitch were "such good friends for years." This one makes me the most mad because they were never friends...EVER, and Shawn's treatment of Mitch and I caused Mitch such anxiety and anger over the last few months of his life. I think those are the big ones and despite the fact the kids and I LOVE the pool, I can't believe how Mitch and I were treated by this company over the past 11.5 months. There were a lot of variables that did make it last longer than it should have, but the lack of communication, lies and disrespect was worse than the actual timeline. The last conversation Mitch and I had was of course about our pool nightmare...and how frustrated we were and still unsure if the plan and timeline. This makes me so angry.

Earthscape - Example of 3D design

Jason is a decent guy; just not a great communicator. I'm hoping my feedback can help the next…read moreEarthscape customer address these issues upfront, saving you some of the confusion we experienced. PROs: (1) Colleen did an impressive job creating a 3D landscape design. We outlined our requirements in an email, which she captured perfectly in her 1st draft design. Then during a live Zoom call to review the design, she listened intently to our feedback and incorporated that into the final design. I would give Colleen a 5-star rating. (2) Earthscape subcontracted the landscape irrigation to Wolverine. Wolverine's quality of service was excellent in terms of proactive communication for scheduling and education in how to use the Rain Bird system. We would HIGHLY recommend Wolverine and give them 5 stars. (3) The sod and the maple tree in our front yard met our expectations. Looks beautiful! (4) The Earthscape crew is hardworking and the installation goes quickly when they are on site. CONs: (1) Poor follow-thru and lack of proactive communication about the sequence of events and the schedule. You will end up doing the follow-up feeling like you're pulling teeth to get an answer. (2) Unclear which subcontractors we were supposed to arrange, and which ones Earthscape will arrange. (a) Found out last-minute that we were to have contacted our own electrician to provide wiring for the irrigation system. This cost is extra beyond Earthscape's quote. And because this was not proactively communicated to us, resulted in a delay to the overall schedule. (b) Was given a direct invoice by Wolverine whose costs were supposed to be covered in Earthscape's quote. (3) The 3D landscape design shows fully mature plants and coverage. What you actually get is a seedling or sprout that will take years to mature. As novice homeowners, we wished this expectation had been explained up front, or given the option to plant more mature plants. (4) Other neighbors who had contracted different landscapers showed us diagrams and documentation they received about what plants were installed where and how to maintain them. We had not received anything like that, so we had to request it 3 times. Originally requested in July, after 2 more prompts, received it in late September.

I ordered this dirt to be delivered to my sister's house since that's where we are both going to grow a garden. I was at work when it was being delivered and my sister sent me a picture of where they dumped the soil. On the sidewalk where a lot of people walk daily. My sister told the guy to back up onto the terrace that we didn't really care if it ruined the grass because we want to replace it with clovers anyway. The guy goes "this is my first time doing this" disregards what my sister told him and dumps it on the side walk. We are still trying to clear it but with our backs we can only do so much. My sister reached out to them but we have yet to hear back from them. The soil is good though, just might need to train your guys a bit more or have someone with experience go with the new guy.
