I have a small pondless waterfall which needed a clean out and the liner adjusted to fix a leak that I had caused when I was trimming some of the shrubs overhanging the waterfall. Mario arrived with 2 helpers that he told them what to do then he left. I watched some of the work they did as they pumped the dirty water out the pump enclosure with an old beat up water vac. It was quite large I'd say maybe 10 gallons or more. I was curious as to how they would get rid of the dirty water as they didn't have a garden hose connected to pump away the water in the tank. The young man grabbed the handles rather like a baby strollers handle but more heavy duty that were attached to the water vac and proceeded to ram a way through my bushes and flowers mangling a hydrangea I had there to get to the fence. Once there he upended the tank full of dirty water, he did that 3 or 4 times more going to a different part of the fence each time. All of that water ended up running all over my patio as it drained off the flower beds. When I asked the older man why they weren't using a garden hose to pump out the water he mumbled something was broken. I couldn' t understand his accent very well. I'd say they did an excellent job of cleaning out the tank and pump enclosure. The leak was fixed by jamming a rock against the liner so it wouldn't slip down. A few days later I found that they had broken off a corner of one of my patio tiles . Total length of time they were there was 1 and 3/4 hours. Was it worth the $475 that he charged, definitely not. read more

I called Mario and his team and asked for them to come out and clean the overgrown Koi pond in my new house. They were professional, informative, friendly and extremely helpful. This team is so knowledgeable! I was asking so many questions and they were happy to answer them. They cleaned out at least 10yrs of over growth and I was amazed at the difference in my now clean pond. They are my now to go for any questions or work that needs to be done for my koi. Mario and his crew were nothing less than fantastic. They not only did beautiful, professional work, but they also went above and beyond what was necessary to get the job done. For instance, they noticed that the toddler was interested in what they were doing, so they left some marigolds for her to plant so she could play in the dirt and feel part of the whole process. They even asked her what flowers she wanted, and planted her requests. The prices were reasonable and they were the only contractor to return our call and provide us with a bid. Mario listened to what we wanted and provided beautiful design ideas and was flexible when we changed our minds. What stands out about Creative Falls is that they didn't just do the job and move on, but they took pride in their work and make sure that it would last. For instance, they used pressure-treated wood for the planter boxes because it would prevent rot and last longer. They also used sprinkler heads that would minimize excess water spray, so they were more water efficient. They did not cut corners and took their time with everything to make sure it was done correctly. I had Creative Falls out to do some Sprinkler work and also to do some border work. I have a drip system. They used my wood as I had a lot of excess wood from previous jobs. They used wooden stakes which they nailed to the 2 X 4's and stuck those in the ground as a border. How long is that going to last? They were supposed to check all the sprinklers and make sure they worked. They were sloppy and did shoddy work. I paid them $1500 and I will never call them again. read more

Very Happy with Creative. We're not the easiest customers, but Mario and Steven always work with us, very meticulous and "careful" with our equipment. Steven came-in (via Mario) to replace equipment from another vendor. They (Steven, his son and Sr.) replaced large equipment and "corrected" those mistakes made by the original vendor. So happy I found Mario Jimenez on Yelp. He has been a blessing to work with! Honest, kind, humble and great sense of humor, and patient - Lord knows he needed patience working with me. Our contract outlined each phase (5), after I approved each Phase build, he received a progress payment. His team went above and beyond (seriously!!) in 102 plus heat (please keep them hydrated!) to repair my pond, tear down the gazebo, demo old waterfall, build a new waterfall, install new pump/plumbing, and add decomposed granite to the area behind the waterfall. I have no idea how he got it level as there was a stump and huge roots but he did it! Today, the team cleaned and power washed the backyard, front yard, sidewalk and street where they dumped their loads. My neighbors are happy! Amazing work and I highly highly recommend Mario and his Creative Falls team. He communicates, he doesn't change his story, and he honored our contract and estimate to the dollar. One thing I learned is that you truly have to trust the process. His business is called Creative for a reason, he provided me with a drawing of how he envisioned my project, I'm here to tell you it came out even more spectacular. Mario and his crew were awesome! We had an existing Cuoi pond and a Koi fish. Our waterfall was amass and had many leaks. Our filtering system was a mess as well. Mario and his crew did demolition on the waterfall and completely rebuild it, and gave us a great filtering system. The best part, they took great care of the fish while their new home was being built! Mario brought a complete swimming pool with filtration system to the house and put the fish in it while they were working on the pond. We just could not be happier with the results! We wanted to add about 50 square feet of concrete to our pool area. A fairly small job but I received quotes all over the map. Mario came and provided a detailed written offer. He and his crew performed the work within three weeks, ahead of when he originally thought possible. We asked about re-glazing the tile on our front patio and steps and he did that work as well. The finished jobs (cement and patio tile re-glazing) look great. Bottom line with any review...Yes, we would use Creative Falls again and would recommend them to our friends. read more

Not a happy customer. Nice guy but as my backyard project went on, he became less invested in what I had requested and more interested in higher paying jobs elsewhere. I've since had to hire additional help to level our yard (which was in our contract) and assist with the drainage (which was what I had originally hired him for). Mario responded very quickly (I actually found him through a free internet home advice company) and when I tried to set up the appt. he offered me a Thursday (it was Monday). When I explained to him that I needed somebody to come out and look at my issue that day (we were having water intrusion issues into our house and we were about to have 3 solid days of rain!), he called back several hours later and said that he could come over that day with another employee. GREAT! Wonderful service. Let me add...Mario and the employee he brought to my home were both great. They were kind and sympathetic to my issue and actually came up with a great (short term) fix. They spent about a half hour at my home trying to figure out how to best fix the issue. Maybe this is my bad, but I was a bit upset about the rest of how it went down. He never gave me a quote on the work he was about to perform, but just jumped right into fixing the problem (but again, maybe this is where I should have had better communication with him). He brought about a 15' length of black corrugated pipe ($5 at Home Depot) and some water proof tape (about 10 cents worth). Taped it onto my downspout (near the source of the problem) and then ran the hose on my roof to make sure it wasn't leaking. He also gave me several suggestions - one was that he could run a line of silicone caulk between the cement and the stucco (where the water was seeping into my home) and then asked where the nearest home improvement store was. When I asked him if it was just regular caulk he said yes and he would go purchase it and do it for me. A little nervous about that, I simply declined and said that I could do that myself and it seemed like a good idea. So, as he finished up I asked him, "How much do I owe you?" and he thought about it for about 30 seconds and finally said, "$125 for the travel and gas." WHAT???? At this point I froze and probably should have negotiated that price down, to oooooooh, maybe FIFTY bucks? Instead, I walked into the house where my lovely wife was sitting and broke the news to her that I needed to give this guy a check for $125!!! She looked at me and I know she wanted to slap me. However, she smiled and said, "Well, I guess that's the price we pay for having somebody come out and temporarily fix a really big mess for us?" I sulked off with my check, feeling like an idiot, and handed it to Mario. He then said if I wanted him to do the major fix (in the thousands and thousands of dollars most likely - because I got other quotes) he would deduct the $125. Again, he was a nice guy, came out quickly, jumped right in to help me (had the materials on his truck), but ultimately I think I learned a very hard lesson - ASK HOW MUCH BEFORE A CONTRACTOR JUST JUMPS IN AND STARTS THE WORK!!!! I really feel that the job he did for me was NOT $125 worth. I had several other contractors (one was a friend) also tell me that I needed to get some black pipe and redirect the water away from my foundation. I could have solved my own problem for less than $10!! Later in the day I went to Home Depot for the silicone caulk (which didn't stick, by the way) and could have picked up a splash block or the corrugated pipe myself for a LOT cheaper - like $115 less!!!! I really have nobody to blame but myself. Having said all of that (and I really do not intend for this to be a negative review), I probably would hire Mario and Creative Falls for other landscaping needs. I will just make sure to have better communication with him and get the bid for the work up front. I only gave 3 stars because I feel a little ripped off by the price he charged me. Edited to add: Mario sent me a very kind email after reading my Yelp review explaining his charges and why the price was $125. You gotta appreciate a business man who takes the time and initiative to do that. Therefore, I changed my rating to 4 stars. Again, great company and good guy (who is trying to make a living just like the rest of us!). Again, I blame myself for not asking the cost upfront. Lesson learned. read more

He not only did a fabulous job on our front and back yards but he did so after we had been taken in by an unlicensed contractor that abandoned our job and left work that was below anyone's standards. Creative Falls is AMAZING! They transformed our backyard from a simple one that was barely used, to a mini-oasis that we can't WAIT to come home to daily!! Mario and his gentlemen are thee nicest, coolest, and respectful men ever!! Mario came over within the week for an evaluation and consult. He even invited us over to his backyard to see some of his work and to get an idea of what we were wanting. He and his crew began working shortly thereafter. Their work is amazing! They work with other specialists as well, so that we didn't have to coordinate it. We extended our patio, had a patio cover with fan put in, a custom built-in grill, turf, decomposed granite (for our "camp fire area"), a pond-less waterfall with bench next to it! Its everything I imagined and more. It opened the space of our already small backyard and made it appear much bigger with usable space and beautification.
