I've been a customer with scissors since the day they opened their doors back in 2012 and a lot has changed, it's crazy how much it has, but positive changes. First, the prices aren't the same as I previously wrote on here. Men can expect to pay up to $25 on their service depending on what they get. I.e...I usually cut my hair with a 2 all around with a taper, and shave around the tapered areas so I have a clean appearance of a shave. I don't shave my face ever because that's an additional cost I don't need. My cut comes up to $14.00 with my decision of tipping, in this case $16.00. I've seen little boys pay for basic cuts and tapers for around $8-11.00. Again, it all depends on the services you request. The establishment is very clean, modern looking and has a welcoming appearance to the customer. The unisex restroom is also very clean. In the back of the salon you'll see waiting chairs, a mini nail saloon booth, an eyebrow station and a make-up station. Any male or female looking for those services should call the establishment in advance to make sure that the designated trained staff are there for those services because I don't see them in there when I go for my cuts on Sundays. In addition, there's a barber section for men with two barbers available throughout the week. Again, you should call to make sure the barber is available and ready for services. I once overheard and witnessed a girl pay $140 for blond tips, nail painted, make up, and her hair styled for her quince. I thought she paid good deal for all those services! Overall, I don't think you'll regret coming her for exceptional services. Speak to owner, Marlene, if you're not satisfied with your service or cut. She'll talk to you and listen so you don't leave unsatisfied with your service. I once had the new girl in training cut my hair because I was in a rush and I thought she didn't do a great job for such a basic cut. Marlene apologized on that girl, promised to send her for more training, and gave me a 50% discount on my next cut. Wonderful little place with a lot of options for services! P.S...Call to make an appointment or call to check in on how busy the wait is because I've done the mistake of walking into a group of girl's beauty day-out and waited up to 2 hours for a basic cut!! -Nails -Barber -Eyebrows -Make up -Salon and - Styling ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This barber shop/ beauty salon is awesome! The two ladies who cut hair in there are very generous and respectful. Somethings I like about this salon is that it is unisex so both men and women can cut their hair and their prices are awesome.! Current Prices: Men's and Boys haircut is 8.00$ and UP (depending on the haircut) Women's hair cut start at 10.00$ and UP (the price will increase depending if you add more service such as highlights, hair dying and etc..) They also have specials for boys under age 12 where they will cut their hair for $7. ( note: you may have to call to insure the special is available on the certain day you visit.) Usually when I get my hair cut it is around $8.00 but I also give a two dollar tip because they do a great job ! Overall this barber shop/beauty salon is very clean and professional. Try this place you'll love it, also the ladies in here speak both english and spanish. One last thing! No appointment is necessary, just walk right in.

A stylist asks who I'm there for, I say DJ, and then she says oh I'm sure she's on her way. I thought to myself wow, she's not even here, okay... DJ leaves my texts on read without responding and now I've waited 30 minutes. I text again asking, "What's your ETA?" .. no response, but her read receipts say she's seen it. Another stylist asks me who im there for, I say DJ, she says "oh DJ isn't coming in today, she didn't text you?" I say no and then she finds me another stylist who is there to do my hair. My time was ultimately wasted by DJ who eventually finally texted that she was feeling under the weather and that we'll "have to reschedule" but she should have told me that at least an hour before my appointment time, at the very minimum when she read my texts that I was there instead of just leaving me on seen. My total waiting time since I arrived at the salon was an hour and a half, and I was going to just go home but I had spent this much time already and had already (hesistantly) agreed for another stylist to do me hair. The new stylist was nice and gave me some decent hair tips and all was good with the wash, deep condition, and trim, but when it came to the actual style, oh lord. I asked for her to define my curls and I already had a part in my hair upon arrival. She doesn't ask me what part I want or anything. She only defines the back of my head, and finger coils parts of my hair in the front and gives me a DEEP A** side part, so there's a mountain of hair piled above my forehead. I was asleep during this part bc you know, sleep deprived college student, but she still should've asked and this was simply not what I asked for. I looked like somebody's Aunty. She explained that the front of my hair has more of a wave than curl pattern, but I've defined my whole head of hair before. Just because it's looser doesn't mean it can't be defined to give a consistent curl pattern. I had been in that salon at that point for so so long that I just took the L, paid and left. Restyled my entire head when I got home, so my only apology to her is sorry for her wasting her time but she decided to do her own thing without asking. DJ canceled the appointment in her head and didn't bother to communicate. These are supposed to be grown professional adults. I am never going back there.

Being overdue for a hair cut, I thought I'd see if there were any barber shops I could walk to, and so get a hair cut while my car was recharging. Art Beauty Equilibrium was close, so I went for the short walk to their shop. Upon entering I got a really good vibe from the place. There were three barbers, all working, so it was clear that the place was popular. One barber said he had availability after he finished with his current customer. The barber, and I'm sorry I don't remember his name, but I found that he had just completed several years of apprenticeship at the shop and had recently received his license, asked how I wanted my hair done. When I told him in general, he explained a few different more detailed options, and I went with his recommendation, which I believe was to do a "fade" on the sides. I came to find out that he had been having his hair cut by one of the other barbers for many, many years, and under his mentorship decided to choose it as a career several years ago. The reason I'm writing this is that the close relationship of the team at this shop makes it a really pleasant place to be. Other customers feel the same, because another gentleman who was waiting with me drove a significant distance to have his hair cut at this shop, and is a regular here. The shop is a barber shop, but also does men's and women's cuts, styling, and other beauty services. When in the shop there were both African American and Caucasian customers, so clearly they are skilled on all types of hair. The cut turned out great, so 5 stars.
