Birthday party was so much fun, the art teacher was so sweet and did amazing with our guest's variable age group (4-8). Friendly staff, cozy cute place for creating art, AND if you haven't already tried the Gelato..... well then you must! It's so delicious and flavors are always variable so keep an eye out because they may not be the same flavors when you come back! I found The Art Cottage and learned that they do watercolor classes-and figured I'd give it a try. You do need to call or go online to reserve your spot-space is limited. I called and was able to get in easily for the day and time that worked for my schedule. I showed up a few minutes early and was setup at my station with paint, paper & brushes. I was ready to go! The class was brief-I learned a few basic strokes and techniques in watercolor. Gradient painting where you start very light and work your way into the darkest version of a color. I also learned the "wet on wet" and "wet on dry" techniques and when it would be appropriate to use each. I also learned how to fix mistakes and turn them into more intentional pieces of the art. I really channeled my inner Bob Ross turning things into birds and clouds. After the instruction, I was set loose to do a painting. There were some binders full of examples to provide inspiration, but no step by step instruction, which is different from other canvass/acrylic painting classes I've done elsewhere. I applied the techniques I had learned in the lesson and some suggestions from the instructor. Although my painting might not be one worthy of hanging in a gallery, I enjoyed myself and would recommend taking a class to anyone who might be mildly interested in watercolor.

I found an appointment with no trouble. I chose this location because I actually went to the city location a few years ago and I wanted a different look for these. Sally the photographer was Fantastic!! We came running in and she was very accommodating and she was delightful. They have no concept of how to redirect children's attention and keep them engaged. My child would come home constantly feeling horrible and like they are a really awful kid. I will never return my child to this school. Enough is enough! I let it slide for too long. They had me thinking it was my kid and I am now able to see right through them. Awful teachers and the owner is beyond unprofessional. She truly has no clue what it's like to be a child. Protect your children from a traumatic experience like this. They are trusted to set the tone for the rest of your child's school career. Take this seriously. This is not the school for energetic children.

We…read moredo live in a beautiful state and it's appropriate for us to step outside, take a look around and appreciate when nature shows off. I joined a group of hikers and hit the trails this past week, in search of some great fall colors. Bell Canyon did not disappoint. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead, including clean bathrooms. The first part of the trail is pretty rocky and has a decent elevation gain-poles are helpful, but at the least, have good shoes with some traction. Once you get to the reservoir, it's pretty flat and there are lots of places you can get amazing pictures. Be sure to take some time down by the water-it's so calming and just beautiful. There were some detour signs on the trail, so we didn't get the full experience (not sure why it was closed, but we tried to follow signs until they suddenly stopped. So we turned around and came the way we went.) Overall, it's a beautiful hike and I'd love to come try it again when the trail is open.

It took us about 4 hours to hike approx. 6 miles with short breaks in between for water. It's a mixer of flat, incline, rocky, slippery (snow still out towards end of hike), upward steps, and mini bridges to cross over small water streams. There are surrounding plants and trees, but most are barely blooming. Didn't see any wildlife animals, but saw a few squirrels crossing our paths lol. The hike itself wasn't too hard. I'd rate it intermediate. It was only challenging because the paths towards the end were slippery due to snow still out and melting. It was fun with some close calls. Luckily I found a stick on the way to use. We passed by the lake at the beginning of the hike, which was nice. Once we reached the waterfall, we took a refreshing break; snacked a bit; embraced the beautiful nature; and then, headed back where we started. It was harder to hike down the slippery snow than it was to hike to the waterfall. I'd come back to hike this place during fall to see the vibrant color of the trees.

This was another one of those hikes that was stunning from beginning to end near Alpine, Utah. Trail begins with a surrounding of aspen trees and eventually becomes an exposed area as you climb up the side of the mountain towards the lake. There were two water crossings at this time and easy to cross with the logs and rocks. For the most part, the trail was narrow and rocky with a steady incline. Required to drive on a bumpy dirt road for ~3 miles. Recommend a high clearance vehicle. Parking lot can fill up fast at the trailhead because the people who kayak, swim, etc at the Silver Lake Flat Reservoir also park in this area. Highly recommend Create Bliss for kids of all ages, and adults in fact! Jill has a way of helping kids tap into their own creative energy. This is so important for kids when we live in a world of hustle and bustle where kids are told what to do and where to be every hour of the day. Jill creates a connection with each child and makes them feel empowered to create anything they can imagine. She has been such an inspiration for my own boys and has a way of encouraging them to keep creating. The art studio is in her home and so beautiful. Jill Kesler is beyond spectacular when it comes to a fun and creative LOCAL art teacher! Not only does she make every student feel like Picasso, she gives her whole heart into teaching and helping each student individually express themselves. Children adore her upbeat teaching style with a wide variety of classes and camps. She was one of the best art teachers in the community when she taught at the elementary school. Our kids love Jill and we would refer anyone to her Create Bliss Art School in Draper. I hope to register soon for a Girls Night Out/Art evening at Create Bliss with some friends. Their curriculum never repeats so all of the projects are different and they use a wide range of mediums so you get to try new and different ones at every class and they provide all the supplies so all you bring to class is you. Just this past year I have used charcoal, chalk pastels, watercolor, Prismacolor markers and acrylic to name a few. The teachers are friendly and knowledgeable. The classes are structured so that at the end of each one you have created a finished work of art ready to frame. Best of all, they welcome all skill levels so you never feel intimidated even if you are a beginner like me. If you are looking for art classes that are in a relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price I highly recommend Pallet Up!

My 5 year old can name numerous insect body parts, count to 20 in Spanish, doing addition and subtraction on her own, solar systems, and the list goes on and on. She comes home excited about learning and explains in detail what she learned that day. For this age group, I know what a challenge they can be. Ms Mary, our whole family loves her. My daughter asks why she can't come on trips with us. She makes such an effort to love and support the children. She finds their interests and treats every child like they are her own. We have LOVED Montessori. If you are thinking of a school and are unsure, do not hesitate. It will be the best decision you make!

Initially I wasn't sure if the class I attended was going to be active enough for my 22 month old, but by the time the class ended, he wanted to stay! He had a great time with the musical activities, and the pace was pretty great. As I mentioned before, some of the activities are "quieter", which wasn't a huge sell with my little guy. But I am going to guess that he will get used to that and it will be a good thing for me.
