I recently adopted a little Chihuahua from them, she was from a shelter in South Carolina and came through their gracious network. From the time of my first inquiry with them to adoption I found their communication to be on point, clear, candid, and open minded. I spoke to Jennifer, Nancy, Marge, and others. I From the time of my inquiry to adoption was a time frame of about 2 weeks. My experience was they promptly replied to my emails, picked up my phone calls, would return email me back even late hours into the nights and weekends, this organization is obviously driven by a profound sense of service and devotion. I would probably mention that since they are volunteer driven, if you have your heart set an a pup with them and it doesn't follow up through to adoption, be patient, be kind, and keep trying. It doesn't mean you are not a good person or candidate for a dog! I invite you to keep faithful and remain patient , it will all be worth it in the end once you can connect with your adoptive family member. They are not a for profit business, they are a for-happiness and pro-altruism rescue. They are a 501c3. Offer to volunteer, foster, and keep an open heart and mind. Each dog is a unique individual and I would encourage you to understand that once the time is right you will connect with your forever baby. They followed up with me afterwards, assisting me with procuring multiple medical records from out of state, even going the extra mile to mail me microchip and rabies tags. They even patiently and lovingly replied to all of my updates that the dog they placed with me was thriving. Wow. Buyers BEWARE - As a new dog owner I wanted to be sure and do everything for my puppy. She had…read morereceived first shots with the woman I adopted her from. When it came time for me to have the next round administered, I had been told that doing so at one of the clinic's would be far less expansive. I went to the scheduled clinic at the Tractor Supply store in our town only to be told that the Pet Vet team "did not show up" and they hadn't been there in months. I returned home. I phoned another nearby store a few towns away and was told the same. Please note this has nothing to do with Tractor Supply as they only provide space for the VIP Pet Care teams. I phoned VIP Pet Care, and their customer service rep. advised me to go to another location about 35 minutes' drive, where a clinic would be taking place that day. When I arrived, I waited 30-45 minutes to "check-in", only to be told that the annual service plan I wanted to purchase was only available in two locations in the region. One week later I drove over an hour to one of the clinics and finally was able to purchase the plan. The local staff was great and I was satisfied. I contacted customer service about how hard I had to work and the inconvenience they did essentially nothing, saying that there was no possible way they could reduce the cost or provide any sort of compensation. I was now locked into an annual service plan with a contract and would have to travel one hour each way for service. On multiple occasions I dd travel to the "Wellness Center" for Service, found a number of people with pets waiting in line and was REFUSED SERVICE. They operate on a first come - first served basis without the possibility of making appointments. Again, nothing they could or would do for the inconvenience and I had to leave - S. O. L. The local staff are terrific, caring people but the corporate level operation is all smoke and mirrors. They produce a decent looking website with well written copy that completely MISLEADS potential customers. They DUPE you into signing a contract. They do NOT give a damn about customers. When my bank card had been replaced due to potential fraud and the automated monthly payment failed, they immediately turned the account over to a third-party and harassing phone calls ensued. I resolved the matter and continued meeting the financial obligation. I recently called them to make sure they did not auto renew my service plan past the original one-year term. I was told that I could use the clinic and services through the end of this month. When I called the local center to discuss coming in to receive service before the end of the month, they advised they would be closed the day I planned to visit. Good thing I called first. This morning I arrived slightly after 10am. There were about 5-6 in line which I joined. After standing in line for more than half an hour, a pet vet representative came to the end of the line and told myself and three others that they "had reached capacity for the day". They were not going to be able to see us and treat our pets by the time of their scheduled closing at three pm. Despite explaining the situation and the HORRIBLE experience over the past year with their service plan, I was told by both the local staff who called their so-called customer service dept that I was to be REFUSED SERVICE yet again. The Tractor Supply staff was sympathetic and shared with me that the same thing happens ALL THE TIME. They suggested going to the Wellness Center in the area (another hours drive) and called them for me, only to be advised that the Vet had not shown up. All of the above is factual. ABSURD, UNACCEPTABLE, but 100% true. No amount of savings is worth the DEPLORABLE TREATMENT and COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISREGARD shown to me over the past year. I will most certainly NOT patronize PET IQ, VIP-PETCARE, VET IQ ever again and urge anyone considering doing so to think long and hard before doing so!

Background After just getting our six week old puppy, he became sick a few days later. I was worried because he was throwing up and had diarrhea and wouldn't eat or drink all night. So the next morning I went to an animal hospital in Albany and the vet there wanted to run $600-800 worth of tests and wanted me to leave him there overnight. As a new dog owner, I had no idea if the costs were reasonable and was a little upset the vet didn't offer to go step by step, rather than just run all the tests at once. I thought "yikes!" and quickly ran off to get a second opinion. I called Delmar Animal Hospital and explained my situation and the ladies at the front desk were really helpful. They suggested I bring the x-rays and any documentation from the previous vet visit so they wouldn't have to repeat the exams (saving me money.) When I met with Marie, I felt right at home. I described our puppy's symptoms and answered her questions, she looked at his x-rays, and then Marie explained everything in detail to me. What could possibly be going on, what steps she planned to take, *why she planned to take each step*, and an estimate of how much the procedures would cost each step of the way. My first impression, she seemed very caring and loving and genuinely concerned for my puppy's well being, so I felt much better leaving him in her care. One other important note... when we spoke to the first vet, in Albany, about our interest in feeding Otis a vegetarian diet, the vet tech strongly tried to convince me that "dogs are carnivores and are supposed to eat meat" and he didn't recommend we make our dog vegetarian. Marie, on the other hand, has an open mind and although she does not know a lot about this area of interest (refreshing that someone is willing to admit that), suggested places to go to learn more and is willing to look into vegetarian options with us when we decide to switch Otis over to a different diet.

Making the decision to euthanize our beloved 18 year-old dog was one of the hardest things we've…read moreever done. We entrusted this practice to make his final moments peaceful and compassionate. Instead, the experience was heartbreaking. We waited more than 20 minutes after arriving while our dog--who had dementia and was always extremely anxious at the vet--paced the room in obvious distress. When the veterinarian came in, it was clear she had not reviewed his chart. She asked why we were putting him down, which was shocking given the purpose of our appointment. After giving him the sedative, she said she would return with a "doorbell" so we could call her if we needed anything. She never brought it. Our dog continued pacing for about 15 minutes before he slowly stumbled and collapsed. We were left alone to watch this happen while we could hear staff outside the room talking and laughing. The veterinarian didn't return for several more minutes to administer the final injection. After he passed away, he was left lying on the towel we had brought for him, his hindquarters soiled. Because he was being cremated by the practice, we expected he would be treated with dignity before we left. Instead, we were escorted out while he remained on the floor. I understand that veterinary practices can be busy, but euthanasia is one of the most important and compassionate services they provide. Families remember those final moments forever. Sadly, our dog's final experience was one of anxiety, waiting, and feeling forgotten. I hope this practice reviews its euthanasia procedures so no other family has to experience what we did.

I called Liz totally desperate after bringing our adorable puppy home at 8 weeks. We were having a very difficult time with crate training and really had no clue how to take care of a dog. I had read plenty on the subject before bringing our sweet new puppy home, but with the reality of a little ball of furry sweetness wreaking havoc on our household, my research and reading was just not enough. We needed HELP!!! We were a family who never had a dog before with limited positive interactions with dogs (many negative ones on my end as a child and young adult). We had no idea what we were doing! Liz was so patient and understanding with us, I honestly don't know what we would have done without her! She helped us to understand what goes on in a puppy's mind and taught us what to do in terms of crate and potty training, biting, chewing, jumping, impulsivity, general commands like "Wait" and :sit", as well as very important commands like "Come" and "Leave it". I never felt alone while Liz was working with us, even when she wasn't training at our house. When I texted her with questions, she always got back to me in a timely manner. She never made me feel like I was a nuisance or was bothering her, and she always made me feel like I was supported throughout the training period (and she still does!). We started out as trainer/client but now are more like friends and family. Cannot express how grateful that we found Liz when we did. She has so much knowledge and presents it in such a kind and caring way. When you work with Liz, you feel like she is a friend or family member rather than someone you are paying to teach you how to train your dog. She's the best! Hire her, you will be so glad you did!!!.

The vet took her time with me and I did not feel rushed at all. I was surprised that I had to ask her to take the cat's temperature but other than that I was very happy with the experience.

For context, I have been with this practice for 15 years and last Friday, they acted like they had…read moreno idea who I was, which was really odd as I am there monthly to get my other cat a over $100 arthritis shot. Not only was my older cat misdiagnosed (after bloodwork and xrays and idk what, I got a nearly $900 bill) and I was told that my cat seemed to have a mass and that if it was a mass it was probably cancer. I was advised to have an ultrasound and had to wait a week to find out if the cat would die. At the appointed time I presented, and there was a weird vibe in there as there was some sort of emergency. They should have just cancelled appts. I was told I would have to wait aobut 30 minutes. No big deal. I understood there was an animal back there who needed their help. So I wait in the cat section which is kind of a joke as the cat and dog area are separated by a half wall. There were two dogs that were completely out of control, barking and growling with owners not making the least effort to calm them or take them outside so my cat didn't have to be even more stressed. I couldn't put my little guy, who I thought was dying, through 30 minutes of that he was cowering and shaking and was already stressed. So I waited outside where they had benches for that purpose and it was a gorgeous day. The first dog was taken into a room so I went back inside. Next dog comes in and he is even worse and owner could not have been less engaged and on her phone. No attempt to comfort or help her stressed animal. Now if your kid was having a tantrum, you'd take them away from people and help the calm down. So as I exited, I said to her in a low, calm voice "you really should be the one going outside. Not me." I reach the 2nd door of the vestibule and this woman runs out and starts SCREAMING at me. She was on my heels. I turned around and she was inches from my face pointing her findger in my face. Told her to get that finger out of my face and back off. She then bent over to put her face near the carrier and scream "I hope you die." That pushed me over the edge and I did call her a pejorative term. She began screeming "hit me! hit me!" Despite wanting to, I did not because I am an adult. Then two receptionists came out and yelled at me! Saying I should have just kept walking out. So I walked out and waited on the bench. She spoke with the woman inside for a few minutes and then she left with her dog. I was taken to a room with my cat. I was shaking and discussed what had happened with that woman with the tech who was very kind. She said the ultrasound would take 90 minutes and they were dealing with an emergency, so he probably would not be done until 3. I hated leaving him there but went to run some errands (only noon and I live 25 minutes away.) Not 5 minutes later I was called and told that I had not signed the consent form. I replied I had not been asked to and gave verbal consent over the phone. I will acknowledge that I was edgy when she told me I was consenting to hospitalization which has a fee. I replied that he was waiting as they were behind and that it felt like I was being robbed blind having spent $900 there the week before. An hour later I received a call from the reception supervisor that I was being released from the practice due to the altercation with another customer. I was astounded. I attempted to explain that I was accosted. I was told it was not my place to say anything. Then she said i was also rude to the person who called me and I never gave consent. I asked if I could speak to one of the doctors who owned the clinica and she said no. Then she told me they would not treat my cat as a result and that I should come get him. I was flabbergasted. I returned to get my cat and spoke to the supervisor who I had never seen before and would not let me speak to anyone else. I was not yelling. I was actually crying and begging her to let my cat have the ultrasound and not take it out on a animal. Nope. I was handed a list of 4 practice that did the ultrasound and was sent with my cat on my way. They have signs all over the place saying if you use abusive language, inappropriately touch staff or make sexual comments you would be removed from the practice. I didn't do any of those things. I saw one of the doctors in the lot and tried to talk to him. JHe had taken care of my cat for year. He would not even look at me and said he would have to find out what was going on later when he was out of surgery, I found Capital District Veternarian Referal Hosptial in Latham. They were great. The vet said there was no mass and she believed that it was a layer of fat pressing on a large ligament. She also diagnosed him with stage 2 kidney disease, which the inexperienced vet said was early kidney disease. Somehow he just developed it over night as he was there and got blood work twice in the the previous month. So he was misdiagnosed and I and my family spent a week mouring that our cat was dying.

The exterior may seem run down and the inside may not be the best but the staff and team here have hearts of gold and love and care for every animal walking through the door! Yes, this is the ugly building on a crappy part of Central, but the inside and staff makes it warm and inviting inside. It looks like they may have remodeled the waiting room and exam rooms recently. Everything is bright and very clean. The first time I visited and was put in an exam room, I took the time to look around to see how clean it was, and it seemed pretty spotless, especially for somewhere that messy animals come to everyday. The staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to make your dog feel like family here. The staff always remembers Leah, and also asks me about my Mom's dog as well. I think this place may be pricey compared to others, but I can't say for sure since this is my first dog. My dogs neuter was somewhere in the $600 with added testing and microchip insertion. It is $15 for nail trimming here, the flea and tick is $75 for a 6 pack - just for some comparison. I would not use this place for boarding because they do not have someone there all the time tending to the dogs, which makes me feel uncomfortable. All in all, I would recommend this place to someone, and I will continue to take my dog here until I hear a recommendation for somewhere better.

Brook, the manager, told me he had given her no problems other than when she went to wipe his paws before bringing him out to me. She offered me a rag and when I asked what it was for she replied it was for his "piss paws". I was shocked. Why was he standing/laying in his own urine/feces? Was he expected to eat in that same space? He also hadn't eaten the food I provided (his normal diet) so Brook took it upon herself to feed him "canned food" I don't know what kind. Again, I never received a phone call to authorize this. Brook knew he had skin allergies (he was there with both his anxiety and allergy meds-neither of which were dispensed to him) and random food can cause this to flare up. After getting him home and thoroughly brushed, bathed and fed, I contacted the facility and questioned his poor condition and was (for the first time) told my dog was uncooperative and attempted to bite... again, I was never told this until that point. If I had known there was an issue, I would have gladly okayed using a muzzle as needed. I am upset and concerned and will NEVER let my dog come back to this facility. He has boarded at other places and never has he ever come home in such a horrible state. On the contrary, he always comes home in pristine condition. I never write reviews but feel this is necessary and people should be aware. I'm sad because I like to support local businesses but this is one I cannot get behind.
