The kids loved her magic performance and loved the face painting and balloons. She was prompt and friendly and kind with the kids

The Secret Theatre - Cast of "Pirate Pete's Parrot" (11/2022)

This is for the for the Queens Secret Theatre 10-10,44 Av,LIC 11101…read more November 8-2025 ,I saw the event on this great location, I must say ,nice and receptive people. By what I researched , it was created to give opportunities for artists ,which is great and also for the ones who are already in the industry to show and expanding their talent . From time to time this place comes with this wonderful Shortplay Festival . It is so exciting and so promising for the actors, directors and writers .However the competition ,turns in disappointment to see excellent work of the participants overlooked. The voting system is led from family members and friends. This current method is unfair to talented actors, writers ,and directors who give their best, but unfortunately the results depend on personal connections instead of artistic merit. A system led by qualified judges would make the festival stronger, fairer, and more true to its mission of supporting learning and creativity. Please reconsider it , to be an excellent place with fair judgments for all artists . If it continues like this ,I don't see the point of artist go through it.Thank you.

Previously based in LIC, I was gutted when The Secret Theatre closed during the pandemic. They've…read moresince found new life in Woodside, for which I couldn't be more elated. They are the true definition of a community theatre and one that keeps the arts scene alive in the borough. Does it seem like they have a better setup than previously? I seem to think so. While the venue is still incredibly small, it is a little less stuffy their than previous digs and a lot more modern. The waiting area feels like someone's living room, complete with seasonal decor and chairs / stools that feel like they were donated. Now known as the The Secret Academy, they've got a whole arsenal of classes aimed toward developing the next generation of actors. They aim to teach young folks everything from dance to drama to singing and have many current students involved in big time productions. They teach kids as young as 6 and work with high schoolers to prepare them for their next big thing. They host a number of shows throughout the year and I hope that during one of my next trips back that I can stop by and see their latest play. Here's hoping they'll be able to remain here for a very long time.

But my boyfriend said that he would take dance classes only under general anesthesia. Saddened, I thought "What dance would be elegant and beautiful, but wouldn't require a partner?". After a short search, I came across Aurora Reyes' classes at Flamenco Latino and it was exactly what I was looking for. Flamenco is unlike other dance types in that it has a long learning curve. But once you get a knack for it, you could dance any sort of dance style. After just one hour of classes, my wellbeing and mood is greatly improved, from 0 to 10 on some days. I never imagined that I would be dancing to the accompaniment of 8 live guitars. Aurora is an amazing dancer and singer - musical instrument in form of woman! Thank you Aurora, I will go to your classes indefinitely, as long as you have me! Note: this listing currently has the former location of the dance school - it's now inside of the Cultural Creative Center at 147 Christopher St in West Village.

Q.E.D. = quod erat demonstrandum…read more Q.E.D. Astoria is a mellow and welcoming venue that focuses on comedy but also hosts a range of interesting programming for adults and kids. Most events seem to be under $20, and you can purchase tickets on their website. It's set up so there are a couple of tables around a stage; if you're a small party, you could share a table with other folks. I suggest going when the doors open so you can pick out your preferred seat. The staff are super kind and cool. They do sell food and drinks which you can consume during the performances, but there are also a zillion restaurants nearby too. I've seen a comedy show and a movie screening and had a blast at both. Excited to check out more Q.E.D. events this year!
