They share a birthday, April 9th, and were having a birthday lunch there this afternoon, when I got the idea to call the restaurant to ask if there was any way I could provide a card to cover their lunch, since you pay at the end. I was greeted and helped by the kindest woman, Alicia. She found them, about to leave, and hurried to take my info! She was lovely in the sincerest way. I gave her my phone number if there were any issues. Well, there were, as my lovely mom perused their delightful gift shop area (think Cracker Barrel but better) so long the pre-auth expired and my card declined! One of the things I love most about this place is that it truly feels like "come as you are." There's no single type of crowd here. You'll see families, business meetings, date nights, people dressed up, people dressed casually, groups of two, groups of four, and even three generations sitting together. It works before or after church, after school, after soccer games, or after work. No judgment, no pressure, just people showing up for great food and a great environment. What really stands out is how respectful and welcoming everyone is. Whether it's a toddler learning to eat, someone needing a little extra space, or a busy group navigating a crowded moment, people are patient, kind, and considerate of one another. There's an entire cake station behind a large glass case filled with massive, handmade-from-scratch cakes. You can grab slices, order whole cakes in advance, and even place special holiday dessert orders. It's decadent, impressive, and very hard to walk past without stopping. Even when it's incredibly busy, the team is friendly, efficient, and well organized. Whether dining inside, outside, or picking up food to go, the experience is always smooth and welcoming. I also noticed two large piles of dough proofing and a fresh pecan roll on the cooling rack. Emeraude supports other cottage cooks through the display and sale of their products: ice cream and cookies to mention a few, so you are not just there to buy bread. However, bread is the primary reason you are here. I didn't know about the preorder program (great way to reduce waste) but there was still plenty to choose from. I am a sucker for sourdough, big selling point, and we took one home as well as several pecan rolls. The pecan rolls were spot on: great texture and flavor. The caramel stayed soft even as it cooled, excellent. Maybe that was the duck fat. Not likely to do this again due to the price. I am always impresed when a baker gets a solid crust with a soft chewy interior on any loaf of bread. Our loaf was perfect in that regard. On the other hand, the bottom crust, while not burnt, required a tremendous amount of force to cut through it. See the picture and notice the very dark color. The sour flavor of the loaf was not overly powerful and everyone liked it. Fall is the perfect time for this bread because it goes great with soups and stews.

Bloom and Brew is so adorable, the coffee is great, but the Avocado Bagel is out of sight! The perfect flavor, the perfect amount of avocado, and the perfect bagel. Don't sleep on this.
