From picking my mom up from Burbank airport, to delivering her to Our Lady of Lourdes in Northridge, then police escort to Mission San Fernando--Crawford did everything perfectly. The driver even wore an Irish Tie for my mom. He was extremely respectful in church--even went to communion in honor of my mom. He felt like a member of our family and my mom would be pleased. Crawford handled my dad's services 9 year ago also very well--but for my mom--they seemed to pull out all stops and made everything beyond perfect! Thank you from our entire family. read more

I was in the mortuary business prior to law enforcement. We were taught to make things easier on the family due to them going through the grieving process. My fiancé's family is using this mortuary for her mom's services and they have been the worst. Her left instructions for what she wanted and they are not respecting it. I guess his name is Chris and he's getting in between family members and trying to upsell them. I know he's a salesman but read the room. All you doing is prolonging the grieving process. I definitely agree with the two previous one star reviews. It seems as though the last really great review was left 6 months ago. Apparently, there has been a major negative shift with the staff. I paid specifically for "professional services" as was quoted on my invoice and never received professionalism from Wayne, Gloria, and Brianna. Everything seemed good in the beginning. We needed to book the memorial service rather quickly because I had family coming in from Korea. We were able to use their facility for the memorial service and reception afterwards. After we paid, my father and I were informed that the microphone and organ were not working at full capacity. I didn't think too much of it because I just lost my mother and was not focused on these minor details. The real problems started happening when it came to get a permit to have my mother cremated as well as getting the death certificate. I had to continuously call every couple of days to follow up and find out the status. Every time I would call, I was always questioned about why I was requesting to speak with Wayne or Gloria or Brianna. Side Note: Wayne never returned our calls when we requested to speak to him. I also was put on hold for 5-10 min at a time. Then I would get transferred to the answering service. Over a month and a half went by and I was getting no where with the staff. Eventually, I asked Gloria to get me in touch with her superior, Mr. Glenn Gomez. Rather than giving me a direct line of contact with him she told me that she would email him and he would get back to me. That was definitely not good enough for me. So rather than waiting for Gloria to inform her superior that I wanted to speak with him, I took it into my own hands to find out how to get a hold of Mr. Gomez. I found his email address and emailed him. He responded immediately. Mr. Gomez said that he would make sure Gloria and Brianna would follow up with me. Again, Gloria dropped the ball. It was not until I was put into contact with Jessica Rodriguez, the director of operations, that things started getting done. She allowed me yo call or text her on her direct line. I worked with her directly. I was reimbursed for the "profs services" that I paid for and never received. Also, Jessica followed through on everything she said she was going to do. I received my mother's ashes and death certificate within 1-2 weeks. I truly hope the staff takes this as a learning experience and never does this to anyone else again. read more

Lost my Dad in November of 2023 Crawford Mortuary was the place my parents had made their pre arrangements. They were so AWESOME professional,accommodating, patient,reverent,comforting and kind. From picking up my Father from our home to helping us dress him to bringing him to the church and then to the cemetery they went above and beyond the call of duty. What a terrible place. They absolutely botched every step of the process. Got information wrong for the obituary. They were supposed to take the incorrect obituary down and it's still up. Dragged the process out for no reason. Tried to charge for things that other places don't charge for. I really don't even want to get into each issue and relive the problems. I promise you don't want to deal with this business. You're already in a terrible situation having to deal with any of these places, and for them to absolutely screw everything up makes it even worse. Had to have a loved one transferred to a different place and this location tried to charge us still.. finally called a corporate office and they apologized and refunded us but what a disgusting thing to have to do. Continuation from 4/28/2024 Review: We would also like to recognize that there were able to redeem from their inadequacies on the last three final days, as follows: (1) The Funeral Director/Manager who stepped in when things were already messy had a change of heart and realized that she needed to assist and be part of the solution rather than be a problem itself to the aggrieved party and hence went out of her way to work on the papers herself that will enable the repatriation of my mom's remains a day later Feb 11 instead of Feb 10. (2) This Funeral Director/Manager ensured that we were satisfied with the preparations (make up, dress, hair, etc.) made on my mom for her viewing. (3) This Funeral Director/Manager picked up her phone even it was outside of office hour USA time given the time zone difference between PH and USA when we called her for assistance in correcting the errors done at their end for the release of the cargo at the Philippine port. We in fact were grateful for her felt presence in these last days. (4) The rude lady office staff gave few laminated pieces of the obituary inserts (not sure if these were part of the service) (5) The price of the funeral plan was competitive, the venue for the memorial service was neat and the staff assigned during the wake were all alert, helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, the pain and distress we went through in the early days of the transactions far outweigh the good deeds we were accorded to on the last days of this contract. The horrible experience mentioned above will not justify a good customer review. No family deserves this kind of treatment during this time of sorrow. For our family, a rating of ONE STAR is justified. We hope that this brings Crawford Mortuary (1) to work on rectifying what needs to be rectified in their customer service level and (2) to improve on their overall performance so it achieves its purpose in helping the family during their time of grief. read more

Margot was nothing short of amazing for my dads arrangements. From day one calling her and having every question answered, to coming in to set up the day before, to the end of his service Margot was on it, evening helped cleaning up the reception room while we were eating. She was extremely professional as well. I can't say enough about her. I will be using this business (hopefully not anytime soon) but in the future for sure specifically because of her. We were lucky to meet Maria Sandoval who is a representative of Crawford. She help with pre planning as well as after service care. She is very comforting and patient and helped us through a very difficult time. Somebody else made a review blaming her for getting marketing literature. That has nothing to do with her as she is there to just help you make pre need plans or help guide you along the process. I enjoyed her help so much I set up my pre need plans with her. This mortuary will not quit sending me unsolicited material even after I contacted Maria Sandoval (Aftercare and Advanced Planning Specialist). Some of her empolyees have denied twice that they sent me anything. This is very unprofessional. My advice is not to use this mortuary, unless you want to be bothered in the future. We were lucky to have the assistance of Cassidy at our time of need. She also went beyond the call of duty for us all. Nothing sounded fake or scripted in delivery of conversation. Nothing sounded like a business deal. Our mothers name and memory kept beautiful the whole time. She even shared other company keep-sakes links that they didn't have for ideas that we were talking about, like finger print pendants, rings and more. Talk about helpful, not greedy. This was a time of great confusion so even the simple things were asked million times I know. This company is lucky to have her. Dealing with the loss of a loved one is a tough situation to get through. Thankfully, Wayne was so compassionate and caring since the moment we met him. He helped us navigate through this experience as gently as possible. He helped us with all of the planning and made himself available at any time. He was there to answer all of our questions prior to the service. On the day of the funeral, he went above and beyond and truly helped us honor my brother in a beautiful way. I was sad, anxious, and stressed the morning of, but Wayne was so active throughout the day and made sure that we felt at ease. It felt like he was a family member taking care of us. If you care about your loved one, please go elsewhere. These folks will be nice to your face, but could care less about you, your loved one or family members. It took over 1 month to get my family member back in our care from being cremated. Crawford Mortuary will not advise you if there are delays for any reason, will not call you back even though they promise and promise too, and could care less about the stress caused on families during this VERY DIFFICULT time. Our loved ones' services were planned 6 weeks prior to his services, and they failed us miserably. Church was not contacted, nor was the military. When I called, they never even had my loved ones' information, and they gave the church the wrong contact information when they did call. Then, after my many phone calls went unreturned and I got mad, they finally called back a week prior to the services. To top everything off, they still haven't given us access to the obituary portal and forgot the crosses and small jar of ashes we were going to use to fill pendants for family members the day of the service. Military was a no show and they had 6 weeks to contact them. Please save yourself the heartache and use someone else. read more

I called two other mortuaries and although they were both attentive, they didn't give me the same of comfort and efficiency as Crawford. My best friend asked me to find a mortuary for her husband. He became very sick very fast and passed away. I had no idea what to look for but I knew I had to do this for her. I went to 3 other mortuary's before I walked into Crawford Mortuary. I opened the door and DIDN'T feel death or smell death. Gloria walked out and guided me into the conference room. Within a few minutes she made me feel comfortable with a major decision I was going to make for my best friend. She knew the right questions, her tender words and she never made me feel awkward. A day or so later all the major family members came in to meet Gloria and see the chapel. She wasn't in so we met Cassidy. She was informative, kind, and knew how to talk to this crowd of fun loving people who are all politicly incorrect. Cassidy held our hands with every step we took. I had her answering questions that she never received before. She would look at me like "really I have to answer this" eyes and did. My experience: A very sudden and tragic death shook my wife's family to its core. The pain was overwhelming and nobody knew what to do when a young life is taken so soon. There needed to be a quick funeral and a body shipped, no one had any history with anything like this but Chuck and the team at Crawford Mortuary stepped in to make the impossible happen. Chuck worked diligently answering questions, answering them again, helping decide the best way to proceed and offering a kind word when needed. He conducted himself with a dedication and commitment to the deceased. He was going to make sure the deceased was at peace as well as the family. We held a somber yet lovely visiting at their mortuary and their staff worked so hard to make sure we were okay. This is not even the amazing part. The mortuary and Chuck then took responsibility of our loved one and managed to ship his body half way across the world!! I would not know where to begin to make something like that happen. I gotta be honest... as tough as this situation is, having a company so flippant and careless makes it even more difficult. We only dealt in person with the son, who would rather be anywhere else... he never questioned the spelling that seemed off, forgot to ask certain questions and as far as following through by phone as stated... never happened. My family was distraught and we waited waited to hear from them.... Every time, WE"VE had to call and follow up. My grandmother passed nearly two weeks ago and we still don't have her ashes. He neglected to ask us about a container so I guess we'll be getting her back in a ziplock. I guess if you are just paying the bare minimum, you're treated as such. I couldn't be more disappointed. I hope everyone can look into finding a place and not have to just make a quick decision.... we would have paid half the money and gotten far better service elsewhere. Now, at closing, we come to find out her ashes ARE there.. but nobody called so we'll have to get her tomorrow. It's pathetic the care and consideration they gave to us during such a sad time. My Dad passed away in a hospital. The first thing I thought of is how I wanted his body to be out of the hospital. After his passing, the hospital gave me a list of nearby mortuaries. To be completely candid, I called Crawford Mortuary by mistake while driving home from the hospital. After getting off the phone with them they were able to get my Dad in less than an hour. Something that helped ease my tension, as much as it could be eased on the day that my Dad passed. I came on Yelp to help ease my mind that I hadn't just made the biggest mistake by picking them. I saw some bad reviews and immediately began to get stressed that I had made a really bad mistake. I began to get a bit nervous again but after meeting with the staff I was okay again. The service was beautiful and stress free. My Dad was a veteran and they helped coordinate everything with the VA. They have a guy that offers help after the service and they even helped me order the death certificates. I haven't had to plan a death of a loved one before and hope I don't have to do one again. At the end of the day nobody wants to plan their loved ones services but if I had to do it again I would definitely use Crawford. My family and friends kept complimenting me on what a great job I did. I did have to pick out the details but Yony and the rest of the Crawford staff definitely helped guide me through this process and make it very easy. read more

We used Crawford for my Dad and Mom and my Aunt and Uncle and they were great. But in December 2015 not so great with my husband. I brought a picture in for them. He had a mustache most of his adult life and they did not look at the picture and shaved it! Pretty bad --/we wanted an open casket. But he looked completely different without his stache. They also had not followed through with some details and we had to have the service on one day and bury him the next day. Very stressful and disappointing. read more

I'm glad we had a place for my father in-law, but this place smells like a dirty Vegas hotel. Cigarettes. The valet guys are very rude and crashed one of our relative's cars. Park in the street instead of getting valet! My car was parked first in stacked parking. I parked it myself. Valet guy whispered under his breath: "no tip," when I got my keys and walked away. Why should I leave a tip? They didn't no park my car nor have to fetch it for me. Very unprofessional. read more

Very recently my husband died and I turned to Crawford Mortuary to take care of him and the service. I had no doubts it would go well since they had handled my Dad five years earlier. It all went very smoothly. We had the service in their chapel and it was lovely. Two assistants were provided and were exceedingly helpful. I had my mom cremated there last December. It was an awful experience. The woman who helped us seemed confused and unorganized. When we went to pick up the remains she walked out to the lobby with a paper bag and the box which contained her ashes. We had just had my Mother in law cremated at Bastain and Perrott, Oswald Mortruary and when we went to get the remains they put us in a private room with an alter and her remains were in a velvet sack and told us to take as long as we wanted. I wish I had taken my mom to them. To top off the whole experience they sent me a 1 year anniversay card of the passing of my husband. Last time I checked he was still alive. read more

When my mother passed away in Washington State, we worked with a local funeral home for preparation and transportation of her body to California for burial. That funeral home contacted Crawford on our behalf to arrange for pickup from the airport and holding until we could travel to California for a graveside service two weeks later. The employees I spoke with on the phone were kind and compassionate and very efficient in working with both the Washington funeral home and Oakwood Memorial Cemetery and, when we arrived for the graveside service, everything went just as we had hoped.
