We called every mortuary around the valley but the moment you tell them that you have someone deceased they would tell you that they are full and backed up. But Ruckers immediately accepted us and immediately sent all papers works needed..They picked up my dad at the hospital Monday(Feb 22,2021),had our private viewing which they call it ID on wednesday( Feb 24,2021 and got my dads ashes friday(Feb 26,2021) morning. I can't speak to how dealing with them from the family side goes, but as an attendee of a service, I feel they were great. The location is convenient, close to freeways and there is a decent sized parking lot plus street parking may be available if you're lucky. The outside of the mortuary looks a bit outdated, but fits in with its surroundings. The room where the service was held is large and looks very nice with comfortable seating and a generally very nice and easy set up. The staff were friendly and professional and handled the late comers with ease, guiding to available seats. They have restrooms down a hall which are fairly easy to find if no one is around to point you towards them. read more

Michael, the director of this place tried to scam me out of several thousand dollars just to have my loved one to be transferred to our family Mortuary. I want to start by stating that it is not easy at all to even pick up the phone or even know where to start when you lose a loved one. The moment that we contacted Rucker's mortuary funeral home is the moment that we knew they had our back from 0 to 100. From the moment they picked up our beloved Leslie and took her to their facility and kept her there until we were ready to say our goodbyes, We felt so supported through it all especially after losing such a great part of our hearts. When going through something like this the last thing you want to worry about or even think about is prepping and planning arrangements for such a life-changing experience . At Ruckers mortuary Michael, Vanessa and Otis Handled all of those pressures with such grace and proved to us that there are great people who have compassion and empathy for others in such heartbreaking events.They absolutely took care of everything from the moment they picked her up from the hospital to the viewing and the transportation to the cemetery. We used Rucker's for my father's passing. Everything was professional and respectful until it came time to pay. Mike said he accepted certified funds check or cash, which is not an issue. I simply asked if there was another method as I do not go to the bank (due to COVID) and I live quite far away. I was simply asking if we could give a personal check (my brother lives close to them) or even wire transfer. This is when he got rude and disrespectful...even saying I came 45 minutes to pick your fathers body up and "I haven't received the f-ing money, you know what the method of payment is!" Wow - just for asking if there was an alternative or easier way to pay. I agree with the other negative reviews - horrible way to treat a family after a loss. read more

Myself and my family are certain that if it wasn't for Michael at Ruckers, our plans and services wouldn't have run so seamlessly nor would it have been as successful as it was. From my initial phone call; not knowing what to say, what to do, or who to turn to, Michael had answers. He was always so calm, attentive, and more resourceful than we could have ever ask for. The staff in General were all very polite, very nice, and very respectful. The facility is immaculate, and I always felt that everything was always so strategically-organized. While feeling broken, lost, and completely overwhelmed, Ruckers guided us. Ruckers (and Michael) were our shoulder to lean on and helped us through EVERY MOVE we made, until the very end. I totally agree with Casty M. Ruckers Mortuary is horrible. They don't have any sympathy nor do they respect the feelings of the family trying to bury their loved ones. They are very rude and unprofessional and show hostility when you ask questions. I guess you're suppose to pay their outrageous prices and not ask any questions. Mike has always been professional and efficient, four generations of loved ones, not one time did I ever have a negative experience! It took me awhile to write this review but I knew that I had to show my gratitude somehow. My father passed away in January, he died of many health complications due to years of smoking but thankfully it was a peaceful death at home in his bed. The police officer that helped at the scene suggested we deal with a family mortuary rather then calling the coroner's. So that's exactly what we did and came across Rucker's through google. I spoke with Vanessa who was so sweet and compassionate over the phone, she took down all the details and they picked my father up in no time. We then met up with Michael the following day, he was very nice, compassionate and professional. We had a private viewing of my father before going through details of how we wanted to handle things. First of, I didn't know what to expect in regards to how he would look because I had this image of my father looking different after the fact but that was not the case. He looked like himself, peaceful, like he was asleep, they did a wonderful job. I am very thankful and pleased as to how Michael handled everything so fast and in such a professional manner. Rucker's Mortuary is a potent stew of disorganization, unprofessionalism and good old fashioned condescension. My family grew up in Pacoima so when my Grandmother passed away having Rucker's handle her transition was the only option my uncle really considered and it was a mistake. During my Nana's viewing the crappy music they provided kept skipping (my uncle played the organ instead), my Grandma's wig was on backwards, the plastic they stored her body in was visible and her make-up was poorly applied. To add insult to injury, Linda Armstrong (an employee of Rucker's) felt my Grandma's funeral was the appropriate place to air her grievances with current fashion trends. Standing at the podium mere feet from where my Grandmother laid, she launched into a 5 minute tirade about skirt lengths, stockings and other accessories. This was done after self-righteously discussing private family issues (which are none of her business) in front of the entire church. I have never witnessed such arrogance and lack of compassion in my life. Needless to say, I would not recommend Rucker's unless you desire subpar service. read more

My grandmother passed away from cancer this past November. As you can imagine, it was such a difficult time for her kids (my dad and his siblings) along with the rest of the family given the light she shined within our family. Rucker's Mortuary did everything with top of the line care, quickness and respect. Their work was so beautiful and all the procedures and logistics were handled so gently and smoothly in this tough time that it made the time be a bit easier for us all. This Mortuary is one of the worst places to deal with, they are inconsiderate and unprofessional. Mike was a heartless A$$hole and was only concerned about charging for everything! They are not helpful and take advantage of the fact that once your loved one is in their hands you have no choice but to accept bad treatment. I will give Zero stars. Place is dirty. Staff sit behind desk with no real thought to helping you even during a funeral service. Very disorganized. No one assisted at the end to guide people at end of service. They nickle and dime you to death. Save yourself the heartache for your loved one and family. Dont use this place. Go Valley Funeral Home in Burbank. Valley Funeral Home is also WAY less money. Valley is also clean and the people go out of their way to help you along with total organization during a funeral. Ruckers wanted 100 bucks deposit for each easel used to place picture of deceased. This was told to the family on the DAY OF THE FUNERAL. No one had $100.00 bills so the pictures of the deceased were propped up crooked against the casket. They told me the people steal the easels. I am sure they figure since they are in a poor neighborhood in Pacoima people won't be on Yelp writing reviews. Dont use this place.
