I really liked it, but it was in a sad shape. There was a gooey residue on the barrel that would sometimes leave imprints on peoples clothes if they brushed up against it. And the barrel hoops kept falling down. Chicago fabrications brought the barrel back to life. They did an excellent job sanding and staining the barrel and cleaning up the metal hoops and fastening them so they would no longer slip down the barrel. And all that residue is gone. It looks like a million bucks and I would definitely recommend them for any projects you may be thinking of

Hands down, if you are looking for a great materials yard, particularly for all types of masonry or plaster work, do yourself a favor and make your masonry or plaster restoration project a WHOLE lot easier and better by going to see Elizabeth, Matt or one of the other great staff people there. Not only did Elizabeth seek out and carefully mix an extremely close match to my rare 90 year old grout, her knowledge of the "science" of mortar materials can be the difference between your masonry project last several years or multiple decades. Beyond the scientific expertise in coloration, application and adherence, Elizabeth provided detailed mixing and application instructions for my older lime-based mortar with additional and essential tips to achieve the best possible color and quality project. These instructions were invaluable to my tuckpointer who learned new tips as well from Elizabeth. She also requested the home address so they could keep a record of the grout color should a future owner need to match mortar in the future. What other supplier have you dealt with that would provide this kind of all-around, amazing service? In the world of big-box hardware stores where you can't find a salesperson, much less a knowledgeable expert, it's no surprise that this family-owned business have been in business since 1888. Yeah, that's not a typo. On top of all this, based upon other reviews apparently their prices are very competitive as well. Usually achieving two of the three pillars of a great business transaction (quality, price and service) is typically the best achievable outcome. It is extremely rare to get all three as you do here. Enuf said. Just go there and experience true customer service and value that is SO rare in today's hurried retail climate.

I waited on writing this review hoping I could write a glowing review but unfortunately I can't…read more  The owner, Justas Dambrauskas, is a nice guy but his business practices are something to be desired.  We contracted with Silver Birch to design, build, and install kitchen cabinets, a kitchen island, a basement wet bar, and 3 bathroom vanities.  This was a new construction home project and we were going with Silver Birch for these items separate from our builder.  We contracted with Silver Birch in May 2018 and had various items installed over the next two years based on where we were in completing our new home.  The kitchen cabinets, island, wet bar, and vanities were installed but the kitchen cabinets had missing drawers/hardware.  The island was the wrong color including the matching cabinets above the stove.  Justas met with us on site and agreed these had to be replaced since they did not match our agreed to color.  Months went by with no follow-up work.  In December 2022, Silver Birch came back to replace the panels on the island but did not have all the panels and the panels that were replaced did not all match since the doors were of a different shade.  In replacing the island panels, the installers scratched our wood floor where they pulled out the dishwasher even after we told them to be careful.  We thought they would be installing the toe kicks under the kitchen cabinets, island, and wet bar on this visit but they did not.  After they left, we contacted Justas who said they would come back to finish up.  From December 2022 to present, I have called, texted, and emailed Justas almost daily to know when they are coming back to finish up the remaining work but never received any response whatsoever!  We paid Silver Birch over $25K for this work.  We have been living in our new home since early 2021 with missing drawers, no toe kicks, and an incomplete island.  They still have not installed the panel for the wet bar's mini fridge nor the toe kick.  Silver Birch was paid in full and we were promised they would come back to complete the missing items.  They have not!  We trusted Justas that he would come back and so far they have been back once with little to nothing to show for it!  Some businesses don't deserve to be in business. Silver Birch has left us with a mess and potentially having to spend thousands again to finish their work that we already paid for!

To say the least, one persons trash was certainly my treasure! I brought it straight to A Lamp & Fixture. The store is marvelous, and packed full of beautiful, vintage light fixtures. In fact, the guy I worked with mentioned that's what they're most known for. He was kind enough to take a look at the lamp I brought in and was professional and nice the entire time. He was able to get it all up and running and advised me on what lightbulbs to get for it. He only had to replace a couple of plastic parts, and only charged me $10! I was worried the whole thing would need to be re-wired, but I got really lucky and it just happened to work. Highly recommend if you have any light fixtures or questions about them, you stop by A Lamp & Fixture. I'm confident the experts here would be able to help or advise on anything related to lighting!
