Two sacks of XL size! Worth it!!!!!
Basil A.

I arrived at 9:45 the other morning, and waited another 10 minutes for them to open. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. I bought two sacks of XL crawfish that came out to around 35lbs a piece. They had all the great stuff in stock, Cajun land seasoning!!!!! ALL the crawfish were alive when I purged them!!!! Not a single dead one. EVERY crawfish was over the size of a dollar bill!!!! My god you have to go here for your crawfish needs!!!! There was no fooling around here with dead or tiny crawfish. They were so helpful even after the sale. They put the sacks in my truck bed and even put a five gallon bucket of ice over them for me as it was a hot summer day. We easily fed 15 people with the sacks we bought!

The crab legs? Absolute weapons of mass deliciousness. And the whole Dungeness crab? Let's just say if I ever get stranded on a desert island, I want this crab to be my volleyball companion, because we'd never be apart. Seriously, steam, boil, whatever, but once you cracked 'em open, it was like Poseidon himself whispered, "You chose wisely." I'd been on a failed scavenger hunt across Houston Texas looking for crab legs, striking out left and right, and honestly, I'm now glad I failed everywhere else because destiny clearly led me here. Joselu deserves a medal, a crown, and maybe his own parade. Friendly, helpful, and somehow knew exactly what I needed before I knew it myself. The man is basically the seafood whisperer. 10/10, Annapolis-approved, Poseidon would eat here.

One the way there, I saw the sign on my left. I wanted to stop by on my way home. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon. The parking lot was half filled. Mainly for other businesses in the strip mall, which has many Asian restaurants, a bank and several small businesses. Looks like there was no vacancy. When I walked in at Hong Kong Food Market, I saw some flowering plants in the entrance area. Walking in the market and saw more. The prices were pretty reasonable. I bought one on my way out. The produce section looked fully stocked, which making my shopping easy and pleasant. The seafood department was my favorite because I saw so many fresh fish and live fish on display as customers picking up the fish. The rest of store is hit and miss. I couldn't find the cashew cookies like other Hong Kong Food Market had. However, the soy sauce section was pretty full. As matter of fact, I like the sauce section better than other grocery stores in Chinatown. On my next trip to this part of town, I would explore more at this strip mall.

I told myself it wasn't the staffs' fault however this last time was very disheartening as the front end staff was incredibly rude. They had advertised acceptance of OTC cards as an S3 store yet upon paying they claimed my OTC card would not work and the lady at the front would not even allow me to try it at the register despite having very limited knowledge of OTC. She then proceeded to verbally create a very loud environment for all of the patrons at checkout. I would not recommend this place in any form especially for seafood lovers as the fresh fish was stored in cloudy water and had a rank smell.

This is apparently their fifth restaurant judging by the name, so they must be doing something right. Since they recently opened, they aren't very busy right now so I was seated immediately and had a very attentive server. The complementary chips and salsa was good: they served a red and a green. The green salsa was the puréed pepper style (not avocado based) and had some heat to it and very good taste. I really liked the red salsa - there's a flavor in there that I can't place but I really enjoyed. They have daily specials, but I went ahead and ordered off the menu: I got an enchilada plate with rice and beans. I got the "Enchiladas al Carbón" which were covered in queso, and had sliced steak inside (if you have ever had "tacos al carbón," then you already know what I'm talking about). The meat was well-seasoned, and I liked the queso, even if it was a little runny. The refried beans were good, but didn't stand out - the same could be said about their rice. The price was fairly reasonable: that meal with a drink was $17, which I would say is the going rate for something like that in these parts. I will definitely be back to try a little bit more of their menu, and I would recommend that you all try it out!
