Unfriendly service, bad ice cream scoops, and questionable food safety! I went here for ice cream to try an alternative to Kilwins. I was with 4 others and we each ordered ice cream in a cone. They gave us haphazard scoops and weighed them on a scale! I lucked out with a normal scoop, but my friend got an unfortunate partial portion of mint chocolate chip. As we left they started putting trays of stuff on top of the ice cream which made me question their procedures on food safety...we won't be back. read more

I have been coming to cravings for at least 7 years while vacationing in vero beach. It has been my favorite place for breakfast ... after today's service I may never come. I have never been talked to so rudely and have never waited so long for my food... we walked in the door and immediately were yelled at to come in and close the door. (I had 2 pregnant ladies with me who were moving as fast as they could)... the older gentleman with white hair abruptly interrupted me a number times trying to hurry along my order... we felt like we had been yelled at and it was only 8:00 in the morning... we all left feeling terrible... the sandwiches were great... the coffee was cold but I didn't dare go ask for a warm cup for fear of the retaliation or getting yelled at. Called and placed a order for 2 acai bowls with almond butter no raisins at no point did they say our granola is what has the raisins in it. I went and picked it up get back to work open the stapled bag and there's 1 strawberry and no granola witch is 1/2 of the entire thing. So I call and a young girl answers and then tells a manager and they say come back and we will put granola in it. Its a 10 minute drive there. Then I hear a Male say to here tell her she can come back for the granola if not have a nice day and hang up. that's great customer service. All I can say is "WOW!" I have rarely if ever seen what I witnessed tonight in a restaurant. It's like the infamous Soup Nazi has changed sexes and living in Vero Beach FL. It's Covid-19 so granted things are strange. That being said, I thought local establishments were happy for our business, as we are happy to support them. We were waiting in line, as only a few people were allowed in the store at a time. We could see inside and felt bad for the young lady who appeared to be alone tending to about 15 customers. Suddenly an older woman appeared, hurriedly sweeping the floor, ignoring the waiting customers. She then comes out and calls all of us outside, into the store (ignoring the corona "rules") saying they close at 9 and locked the door. It was 8:50 at this point. So apparently they actually close at 8:50. The older woman decided at this point to help the young woman. This woman was so rude, I actually didn't know what to say! The customer in front of me asked for some kind of chocolate cone and she snapped back "she hasn't had those since this whole (corona) thing started. The customer, who was so nice and polite, whispered to me she got one 2 days ago. Then, the older woman went to help the woman behind me and she said "hurry up! We are closed! It was 8:55. I don't know who the owner of this place is. But you have a problem here. I feel bad for whoever has to work with this woman, the customers she must treat this way and actually for you. Servers were nice and polite, but the açaí bowls were not good. The açaí was warm and liquidity, not enjoyable. The coconut flakes looked like maggots&parmesan, and the peanut butter looked like baby poop. Totally unappetizing. The açaí bowls also took about 40 minutes for 2 bowls!! Maybe that's why the açaí was liquidity, but shouldn't take that long to not even be enjoyable. I'm writing this to not make the same mistake as we did and just go to playa bowls. I really like the homely feel of this little restaurant. Seems a tad bit disorganized by the way they run things here, but the food more than makes up for it. I ordered a kickass roast beef sandwich with horseradish ($7.50). So fresh and so lean lean. Lol. For dessert, I got some homemade ice cream in a chocolate chip cookie ice cream cone ($4 altogether). Creamy and refreshing. Juan was eyeing it with jealousy. Puhahaha! As a to go souvenir, I got specially made bread - pistachio bread (mmmm moist and interesting flavor with the sea salt and slight sweetness of the bread complementing the pistachio flavor) and another that was flavored with coconut ($1.25 altogether). They have outdoor seating for enjoying that Florida breeze from the sea. Cravings will definitely be one of my frequent stops in Vero. read more

We came for ice cream, visiting our friends who live here in Vero. We live out of state - We've been here multiple times in the past. When we walked in, it was confusing where we should wait in line. We followed 2 people in and stood behind them. I guess they were standing in the wrong place. The boss/owner then came out yelling at us that we were standing in the wrong place and that "PEOPLE WE CANNOT BLOCK THE DOOR! CAN'T YOU READ THE SIGN?!" This was so inappropriate and loud, my teen daughter, for whom yelling is a trigger, almost had a panic attack. Why is this necessary? I know everyone is having a hard time, but I think we should remember to be kind to each other (ironically signs in the store state this)... This is not what we experienced here. Will never come back. Staff tried to make up for her treatment of us but as we know, the leader sets the tone. Btw this is the first negative review I have ever written about a restaurant in my life, because my parents used to be small business owners and I used to work in their restaurant too. I am an avid fan of Cravings and whenever my other half, his family or anyone is in town I always beg them to bring a few of their gluten free treats with them. Let me personally recommend their little red velvet cakes and the mini key lime pies. You have to be careful though, they can be addicting. However, just know that if you are visiting during peak season or a holiday weekend (such as myself) likely there will be a long (20 min (+) ) wait for food after you venture through the long line that will likely be out the door. Is it worth it? Oh yes definitely. In the greater than 20 times that iI have eaten here, I have never had any GI issues. This time I ordered the tuna melt on gluten-free bread; in the past, I thought they only had GF wraps, so this was something new. It came with a little bag of chips and i grabbed a fountain drink. Overall, the tuna was excellent not too much mayo and just enough tuna. I feel spoiled! It's always a treat to be able to get tuna salad outside of one's own home, as quite a few restaurants do not have GF versions (for reasons unknown). Will i be back? You better believe it! The food here was incredibly fresh and definitely has that mom and pop shop feel! They had plenty of little patio tables with umbrellas and were perfect for the beautiful windy day we were there. We looked through the menu and then went inside to order. Even though we had lunch, they definitely specialize in desserts and baking. I was honestly in heaven looking at everything. There were gluten free options, as well, as protein filled cookies! The prices are great for the portions you receive and definitely has the healthy feel to it. I would definitely recommend the Grilled Tuscacado and the chocolate chip cookie! The sandwich comes with chips too. If nothing really seems to catch your eye, you always have the option of making your sandwich! We didn't have any problems with the staff, nor experienced some of the stories I've read from other reviews but I will definitely say the staff is not very friendly and will probably tell you off real quick if you are a problematic customer or other. I work here and I think we do a pretty good job. You should stop by if you ever get the chance, there is a BOGO for waffle cones on Wednesdays which is a really good deal. If I am being completely honest, much of the stuff on the menu is quite pricey, but almost everything I have tried (and I have tried a lot) is tasty. Cookies are baked every morning and most of the sandwiches are good except roast beef horseradish or anything with pickles (my personal preference.) Cravings is the only place in Vero Beach that I've been able to order a Malt. Speaking of a Malt, it's too bad that one cannot order an Egg Cream. Hint, hint. Friendly staff and no issues with our order. For the life of me, I can't remember his name, but our server was the black gentlemen that worked at Patisserie Vero Beach prior to is closing. Wears a really cool hat all the time, but I really forgot his name. We spoke for a few minutes and he is getting used to the new job. I didn't gig him because it took more than a minute to find the Malt powder. After all, new place and new job - it will take a minute to learn where to find things. Outdoor seating is a plus. It does appear that most customers take their orders to go. Prices were competitive and not offensive. Remember, they are along the ocean in the "high rent" district. While others may complain that menu prices are high, the way I look at it is simple. This is Cravings - not Carvel. You know the price before you order. It pains me to be writing this review as I have been going to cravings since I was a kid, and now that i have children, and after repeated terrible customer service, I can no longer support this establishment. I write this in hopes this will be seen by management and either the owner will shape up or be pushed out: The main issue: the owner. She's rude, nasty, and overcharges for absolutely everything. You want a cup of hot water? Charged. You want your milk for your coffee in a little cup to-go instead of in the coffee so it doesn't spill? No. She "doesn't do that unless you will be charged." Her attitude is truly horrendous and encountering her negative energy in the mornings really kills a good mood in a beautiful beach town. My daughter calls her the "scary lady who always screams." In addition to this, I arrived yesterday and there was a dirty crate sitting on top of the open ice cream bins. The amount of bacteria crawling into the ice cream from that can literally be a safety hazard and make anyone ill. DO NOT let your children eat this ice cream. Every single gluten-free option I've ever tried is stale, and their coffee is so watered down it tastes like a tea. This owner is incredibly cheap. They won't spend the money to keep everything fresh and do things properly. And they absolutely don't make up for it in customer service. Went to Cravings for the 1st time yesterday and it will be my last. Service sucked. 3 people working but no one willing to help! The owner was running around just giving everyone in line dirty looks (extremely rude not appreciating the business). I asked to use the bathroom 1 second after the locked the door as I was standing there....got told I can't let you in cause we're closed. We sat outside and the owner came out and told people who were sitting at a table with a umbrella that they had to move cause she needed to take the umbrella down because of wind.....instead of being polite the just said you need to move. I guess we set our expectations a little too high. My mom and I stopped in today for a late lunch before we went to Citrus Orange to get ice cream. The poor guy who was taking our order was new and had no idea about the menu. I asked for Soup and 1/2 salad. I had to find a paper menu to figure out what was in the summer salad. I asked if they had honey mustard and the guy had to ask if they had it. He had no idea. My mom ordered chicken salad on a croissant. When she was ready to pay, they told her they were out of it, so she agreed to grilled chicken. I took my salad home with me because it was a large container of soup. I have family in Vero Beach and have been visiting this area since I was a child and every time I walk across the street and try and be as nice as I can be when ordering, the owner of this establishment is pretty dang rude.
