Dr. Ardron gets 10 stars in my book. Excellent doctor, listens to his patients, accommodates…read morewhenever possible, great sense of humor, brilliant surgeon. However, the missing star... the staff member that did the actual scheduling for me on two separate occasions left a bit to be desired. All three times I was there, she was far more interested in her phone than doing her job. She kept it near her lap in front of her and could not pull her attention away from it long enough to be useful to anyone. When she did finally pull her face away from her phone, she gave me a handwritten appointment card with the time and date on it, but apparently never actually entered it into their system. I also know that I was not the only person this happened to, because someone else told me it happened to them and I had also witnessed another incident with someone I do not know while I was in the waiting room on one visit. On that same day, after I saw the Dr., I tried to set an another appointment with that same scheduler before I left. She kept me standing there for several minutes, (eyes on her lap, where I knew her phone was) when she decided to ask me 'if I would mind if she called me when she got back to Sonora, because she would then be able to make the appointment more easily from there'. That phone call never came. I believe the issues were being caused by some new software they were trying to adjust to and I understand how completely irritating that can be in a busy office setting. You've told your customer they have an appointment and then they arrive at the correct time and date only to find that it's not in your scheduling system at all. Then that same day you ask them to trust you again until they can better serve you, but you never do, there's a pattern developing. If it all comes back to the same employee, that needs to be addressed. Bottom Line: I don't know if they have retrained or replaced the scheduling person. But something was needed. If you can navigate the scheduling issues, you're in for a treat with a great doctor and a very kind and personable staff. I was never angry about it, but it was an inconvenience and it came off as a bit unprofessional. What I am saying is that you shouldn't let the possibility of experiencing something like that deter you from a truly gifted Dr. Ardon and his very amicable and enjoyable nature. He'll give you the gift of clear vision, and it's amazing.

Having had a host of vision problems since birth, I have been to just about every eye specialist in…read morethe world. Dr. Iwata was the first OD EVER to fully explain the situation and to offer me a range of options. I wear contact lenses and when I expressed an interest in getting glasses as a backup, he asked me what time of day I would likely be wearing them and suggested I schedule an exam for that time of day so prescription would be correct for tired eyes at that time of day. You won't get that at LensCrafters! When my pre-teen daughter turned out to be mildly nearsighted, Dr. Iwata actually suggested we NOT get glasses for a couple of years because it was his experience that girls that age would probably not wear them anyway out of vanity. He was absolutely correct and didn't try to sell us a pair of expensive glasses. HIGHLY Recommended!

After being told I have cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and upper eyelid drooping, I expected to be referred to an ophthalmologist. Instead, I was told it was "not bad enough yet." I wondered, how bad does it have to be? The doctor said, "Don't worry, haha, I won't let you go blind." That did not feel appropriate or reassuring to hear as a patient. I expected my concerns to matter and hoped for some compassion, such as an offer to refer me for a second opinion. Instead, I had to call my endocrinologist to get the referral myself. I have been struggling with my vision for a while. I cannot see up close without glasses, my vision is cloudy and fuzzy, and I am unable to drive at night. When I saw the ophthalmologist, he said these issues had been developing for some time. I told him I had only been diagnosed in 2022, and he said the condition appeared to have been present for about 10 years and was serious. I called the doctor's office, left a message with this information, and when they called back, they said the new doctor could be my family doctor going forward. It felt as though, because I raised my concerns, they no longer wanted to see my family. That was not what I was looking for. I was simply hoping for a little compassion from the doctor.

I called immediately during their posted business hours, but reached an answering machine. The recording provided another number for true emergencies, so I called it and spoke with their answering service. I explained the situation, provided my phone number, and requested an urgent callback. Eight hours passed, and nobody called. I called again around 6:30 p.m. and spoke with a different representative. She seemed helpful, but the result was exactly the same--still no callback and no assistance. Unfortunately, this is not the first time they have handled an eye emergency this way. They did the same thing when I personally needed urgent eye care. Based on our experiences, there appears to be no urgency, accountability, or genuine concern for patients who need help. When someone is experiencing a potentially serious eye problem, being ignored for hours is completely unacceptable.

The office staff was very efficient, making an appointment and getting Mr. S in to be seen right away in Angels Camp. Surprise, surprise he has cataracts! I witnessed a young gal who had great anxiety while waiting for surgery. The staff did an excellent job of calming her. Their professionalism is obvious.
