Dr. Van Otten is the chiropractor I have been looking for for 50 years. He uses gentle manipulation and massage -- none of the "neck cracking" or drop tables most other chiropractors employ. He explains both medically and in laymen's terms what he is doing. He listens to you and then explains what symptoms are related to both what is actually happening as well as what you might think is happening. Also, he has worked closely with a number of Olympians. A first rate practitioner delivering first rate care. read more

Dr Van Otten really helped me with mechanics and understanding of how certain things I was doing in the gym were affecting my sciatic pain. He explained about avoiding excessive abdominal curls and decline leg presses so it didn't fire up the nerve against the disc. I've since switched to planks and reduced my ab curl work. That along with acupuncture and cupping at my acupuncturist cured my sciatica. Dr. Van Otten's advice was key to my recovery and I can't thank him enough! read more

When I was 25 years old, I injured my low back along with my sciatic nerve pinching down my left leg, jumping into squats without a warm up. One of my friends had researched Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) and found Dr. Van Otten. I was skeptical at first but desperate to try anything. Especially coming from my active lifestyle and my desire to maintain my active lifestyle, I gave it a chance. I went from limping to running again all in a matter of a few treatments. Later I encountered a bilateral repetitive stress injury from my neck, both shoulders, biceps, triceps, forearms, wrists and hands from typing as an Industrial reporter. I was to the point of tears. My coworkers never saw me cry before that time. My work load was brought to a complete stop certain portions of the day. I even had to take a few days off. Treatments with Dr. Van Otten and his recommendations got me up and running to the productivity I took pride in again. He is a Godsend. read more

World's greatest chiropractor, without a doubt! I've been a patient of Dr. V.O. since 1998, and not only is he a great chiropractor but the best and most caring doctor I've ever been to period. He sincerely cares about his patients and their health over money and/or the insurance companies. He will do whatever it takes to make you better and to accommodate your schedule, even if it means working weekends and/or late evenings. A truly great guy, and an even better doctor! read more

I went to see Dr. Otten for some general lower back pain but primarily because I was having numbing issues down my right arm. My first impression was that the place was a bit dated and not a lot of high tech equipment that I've seen before. During the visit he really took time to analyze the issues before treatment and did not even pop/crack a joint. His technique is more accupressure/stretching. After the visit, most chiropractors will try to put you on a plan to revisit them but Dr. Otten insisted that he never see me again. I've visit him only twice and my pain has gone away. read more

I wish all chiro's knew ART. Craig has helped me recover from several sports injuries over the years, all without the help of any drugs or braces. He's never mis-diagnosed an injury I've had. I trust his analysis and work completely. Because he's an athlete himself, he understands my need. He's always able to find out what the cause of my pain is when I cannot. The best part is he's not like other chiro's that want you to come in for a series of 8 visits at a cost of $80 each. Once he fixes you up, you're done! He really cares about his patients and never overcharges. I hope he never retires; if he does, I'm really screwed!!! read more

I see Dr. Van Otten in Sonora. He has worked miracles on me, no joke. He is the most talented chiropractor I've ever met, and I have been to more than I can count! Last summer, I fell on my ribs and thought I broke them. They weren't healing though after a month! I went to see Dr. Van Otten and, without even having an x-ray, was able to figure out that my rib was in a way dislocated (extremely rare). He did a few small movements and I was instantly better! Today I went to go see him thinking that I did the same thing but it was a pulled muscle and let me tell you, this doctor knows how to work pulled muscles! My fiance is a massage therapist and his beef with chiropractors is they pop you into place but leave the muscles tight, so naturally they just pull out of place again. Dr. Van Otten understands this (and he and my fiance get along great, he loves to learn from him and he is always willing to teach him/explain what he is doing), he works the entire body, muscles and bones! He explains everything he is doing, which I think is so important for the client to know. First because it shows that he knows what he is really talking about and second it gives you a sense of understanding of your body. He is also very friendly! He also works with pro athletes and is certified in ART. read more

Recovering from whooping cough and a migraine left me in excruciating pain. Dr. Van Otten helped my headache and showed me how coughing spasms and/or a chronic caugh can be exascerbated by inflammation in certain areas. I was able to get off all of the meds I had been taking for weeks and remain headache and pain free weeks later. The best doctor I have ever seen. read more

Dr. Van Otten is amazing !!My husband sees him too. We would strongly recommend him!! I went to Dr Van Otten for a regular checkup, posture correction and happened to mention about the tingling sensation on my outer thigh (that I have had for a while, and what my doctors thought was a vitamin deficiency). He told me that this was meralgia paresthetica (a compressed nerve) and he can easily fix it! I got so much better after my first appointment and have had two more sessions with him after that. I can feel a marked difference and the tingling sensation has reduced drastically. I wish I had consulted with Dr Van Otten earlier. He is exceptionally good with his diagnosis and treatment. I love it when my doctor says "I can fix this, not a big deal!" read more

Dr Van Otten is amazing. He does ART which really helps fix your problems. I have not been able to run without pain since I've had my baby almost 8 months ago. After seeing him two times I've been able to run 2 five mile runs with no pain. I feel normal again. My hips and my lower back were giving me a lot of issues but now I have barely any pain. read more

I have been going to Dr V as I lovingly call him off and on now for about 15 years and I absolutely love him. He is by FAR, THE best chiropractor out there. He diagnosed my rheumatoid arthritis before my doctors did. He has ajusted me over the years and I still continue to go see him for a tweek here and there. I was exercising one day at the gym and pinched my cyatic (I hope that's how it's spelled) nerve and he was able to give me relief after visits. But to heal it I think I need 1 more visit. Going tomorrow. I have recommended so many people to this man (and they have come and brought more of their people), that I feel I should own a piece of that practice lol!! But seriously...this man is why people still believe there are still great doctors that care about you!! Do yourself a favor and go see him. read more

sought Dr. VO's opinion after my insurance carrier suggested spinal cord injections. He not only was able to advise me on current medical issues but also provided education related to surgical menopausal symptoms and other neck/shoulder/arm compaints. Prior to seeing Dr. VO, I stood firmly against the suggestion of care of chiro docs, but am proud to say that since my initial visit, I stand firmly committed to the treatemeht plan of Dr. VO. Once referrred by a coworker, I quickly learned of Dr. VO's expertise and since have, too, become an advocate of his work and treatment plan. I would, wthout reservation, be able to recommend the services of Dr. Craig Van Otten and would welcome any questions. Any inquires may directed to me at 925-437-9744. I can, without reservation, recommend Dr. Craig Van Otten for any position for which he were to apply! Sinerely Margarette Macedo read more

My right knee had been bothering me for some time and I was even considering surgery. Fortunately, I read some of the reviews about Dr. Van Otten and decided to give him a try. It was the best thing I have done. After two visits to see him, I don't even think about my knee anymore. Surgery won't be necessary. Dr. Van Otten is amazing with his use of ART. read more

Dr Van Otten is amazing! He's been the only chiropractor who has figured out the real issues and able to fix it. He does ART which is great especially when you lift weights/workout a lot. He was recommended to me by a pro bodybuilder and I'm very happy I decided to make Dr Van Otten my chiropractor. I highly recommend him especially if you're an athlete or gym rat. read more

This is for my past experience with Dr. Van Otten but I would recommend him to anyone I know. I've always been sketchy about chiropractors cause I've heard so many horror stories but after my first major car accident Dr. Van Otten had me feeling normal within the first couple months. He took his time asked many questions and it wasn't awkward at all. Lol and he looks like he could be Dr. Ozs brother. Front office stave was one lady I forgot her name but she was really nice and they were always so accommodating with schedule switch ups. I definitely will go back if I ever need chiropractic services again. read more

I have been going to Dr Joly for about 4 years. I will tell you he has the hands of God. About 6 years a go I slipped in my shower. About a month after from my shoulder to my neck felt like my arm was going to fall off. I went to my family Dr. and said I pulled a muscle. So I decided to get a M.R.I to see what was wrong. Nothing showed so i thought it was on my head. 4 years ago I went to the Fremont Art and Wine Festival and I show free screening so I went . After a while I found out that I had a pulled collar bone and spreated shoulder. I have been pain free for 2 years and loving it. I have told all my friends. read more

I met Dr. Van Otten for the first time last Friday and saw him again today. He really listens. I mean really listens and asks pointed questions. He knows the muscles inside and out. I've been having pain in the very top of my hamstring. I am confident that with his assistance I will be back out running again very soon! read more

I've seen Dr. Van Otten for different things over the years. I would recommend him highly. He does not "crack" you like a lot of other doctors, he uses ART which is much easier on the body. He has helped me and my family members for neck, shoulders, knees etc. Great guy too. read more

I have been seeing Dr Van Otten for more than 5 years. As a computer engineer, I sit in front of the computer most of my life and that work burden has been catching up on me. He fixed all sorts of my problems on neck and shoulders such as stiff neck, shoulder impingement, upper back pain, neck tightness and so on. I would highly recommend him. read more

Hands down the best ! I have been going to him for 11 years now, for all sorts of bone or muscle related pains. One of the interesting ones: I had a tendinitis in my right knee. Was going through physical therapy for 6 weeks without luck. Went to Craig, he did a simple test to prove to me that I had a pinched nerve through my knee that was disabling the use of part of the calf muscle below the knee, thus overusing another muscle and causing the tendinitis. I didn't believe him at first, so I had him do the same test on the left leg (the test was basically him trying to turn my foot inwards, and me resisting it, which I could not do on the right leg, but could do on the left). After he proved to me on the other leg that the test was correct, he then fixed the pinched nerve, and mere 3 minutes later the same test on the bad (right) leg worked (meaning he could not turn the foot inwards since I was able to resist it). Tendinitis was gone in a week or so. Had this had happened to somebody else, I would find it hard to believe, but it happened to me. I will follow Dr. Van Otten wherever he goes. read more

Dr. Craig Van Otten is the greatest!!! I've been going to Dr. Van Otten since 1994. I even travelled to the bay area to see him while I lived in Reno! read more

I first saw Dr. Van Otten in the early 1990s when my lower back went "out." I was hesitant to try chiropractic because several of my cervical vertebrae had been fused during surgery a couple of decades earlier. He assured me he could work around that. His work was immensely helpful. After moving back to MI for about 15 years I planned to drive back to CA to visit friends in 2008. I spoke with Dr. Van Otten by phone, to ask if I could resume being his patient after my long drive. He not only remembered me, but he remembered what had been going on with my neck when he saw me in the early '90s. Once again, I received excellent and very helpful care from him during my visit to CA. I would eagerly recommend him to anyone who is considering chiropractic care. read more

I have been going to a chiropractor for years; I have chronic neck and back pain issues resulting from a serious car accident I experienced over 25 years ago. I have always felt that these other chiropractors eased my pain but did not solve the problem. When my back issues started to move into my hamstring, preventing me from trail running, a friend told me about Dr V and how he addresses the muscular issues to solve the problem. I've been seeing Dr V now for about 3 months and while it took him a few visits to identify how to fix my problem, he has done so. The sessions make a big difference and I am back out on the trails. I have been increasing the time between visits and soon expect to only be visiting him every once in a while. He is awesome. Really listens. He spends as much time is as needed. He is very caring and his prices are very reasonable. I'm so glad I found Dr. V! read more
