I have been a patient of Dr Wada's for over two years. I was referred to this exceptional dentist (prosthodontist) by one of the best maxilofacial surgeons in California. During my initial interview with the doctor, I became convinced that this would be a doctor who could help me.... to restore the damage that had been done to my teeth and jaw over the years by several other people who called themselves dentists. Let's be clear here...dental pain is serious pain. Figuring out how to proceed and at what speed, is the doctor's call. Doctor Wada does not rush that process. He is a perfectionist and this is the kind of doctor I wanted for reconstruction. Part of the first stage of his work involved wearing provisionals. I did not understand myself what a provisional was or why I should wear one. I learned as treatment continued. I heard Dr. Wada bustling around in his laboratory adjusting the provisionals he has made with great care. The end product...a most perfect tooth that would look natural, allows me to chew without pain in the tooth and most importantly be seated in such a way as to be removed if necessary to allow inspection. The provisional allows the bite to be adjusted if necessary and for the mouth to settle in over time before the final teeth are made. Several of my treatments were over three hours long. Often I had to be injected to block pain. There has never been a dentist to compare with Doctor Wada's delivery of these injecitions. I could not tell when he began or ended the injections. During the long stretches in the chair, I found it really refreshing to have one of his assistants run out for a smoothie or something to keep me as comfortable as possible. Before requesting Doctor Wada to take my case I did a great deal of homework on who this man was and where he went to school. I even talked to one of his fellow classmates in dental school. I learned that Doctor Wada did not take the easy path for a quick graduation in order to open a practice early. Instead, he elected to stay on longer and learn more. Like I said he is a perfectionist and...not to a fault. If you are tired of allowing amateurs to ruin your mouth, then your choice is an easy one....I had had years of dental pain and an incorrect bite which is now being corrected. As far as expense goes, in dentistry you really get what you pay for. What is difficult to understand at first is that Dr. Wada is available every day of the week to check any problem, to make even the slightest adjustment....and in complicated cases, there are many adjustments. I am retired and have no dental insurance, so this has been very expensive for me but...is it worth the cost? You bet! Concern for my well being? Not only does Dr. Wada's staff call after every visit to check on me, to be certain things are going all right, but Dr. Wada provided me with his personal cell phone number with instructions to call him at any time if I developed any problems. If you don't believe those in this forum who are speaking the truth about the Wadas, then do a little homework of your own. Simply look in the Public Record. The Wadas have had numerous lawsuits filed against them, in both Sacramento and Placer Counties. Also, they have Federal and State tax liens that have been accumulating for years--is your money going to pay their fines? As far as my personal experience with them: I was sold a bill-of-goods that "my entire bite needed to be rebuilt" (which it didn't). Next, they put me on a pre-payment schedule to pay in advance for all the dental treatment they proposed. Also, they were unable to bill my insurance. Sound familiar? All they did during the many years I went to their office was to make "provisionals"--which are only temporary crowns. After they had 10K of my hard earned money in their bank account, they refused to complete my dental work. In the lawsuits brought against them, this story is repeated over and over. Go see for yourself. It took years for me to find a Prosthodontist who would complete Dr. Wada's work. When I did, the doctor charged me 20K to finish every tooth that Wada started. Moreover, I presented as one of the Wada's "dental phobic" patients. So how do you think I feel about dentistry now after spending 30K and 10 years of my life on this bullsh*t. What the Wadas do is unconscionable. These people have ripped off countless patients but apparently protection of them is far-reaching in the both the dental and legal communities. If you are an attorney, you need to stop protecting them, and if you are a dentist and you are aware of what is going on, you need to help the victims put a stop to it. If you've had a similar experience I suggest you report it to the CA Dental Board. The Dental Board won't do anything to stop these people, unless enough complaints are filed against them. read more

I have seen first hand what an excellent Prosthodontist Dr. Wada is. I feel bad for the two reviewers that had a unhappy experience. As far as the insurance issue...I'm sure clerical errors happen in every office and if it was something else, I'm sure it or they have been taken care of. Regardless of any problems with the business/front office end, the goal as a patient is to see the best possible dentist and get your mouth or jaw joints healthy again. If that is what you want then go see Wada because he is the best there is. The patients he sees are intense and difficult cases that he cares deeply about and he will work day and night to help them. He doesn't go home at 4 or 5 pm like other dentists. He's in the lab working on cases because he wants it done carefully. As a Registered Dental Assistant who has worked in the field for over 12 years I have worked for other prosthodontists. A smooth running business end (front office) doesn't automatically mean the dentist is great. The dentist is great if he has knowledge and integrity. Dr. Wada has both. I have never seen a prosthodontist care so much and have the skills and experience to actually heal people and give them back their natural beautiful smile. Have patience with the front office so you can get to the back and see Dr. Wada. He's worth the wait- you will never regret the time it took to get superior results. I have been a patient of Dr. Wada's for many years. He performed full reconstruction on my mouth. Without a doubt, he is the best dentist I have ever gone to. I read the comments on "His business practices" and I cannot believe what I read. Dr. Wada produces the most organized and detaled treatment plans I have ever been provided. All fees are provided in writing, and I was given every oportunity to review all contracts before signing. The only fees (There were two) I did not have an exact amount for, a clear range was written down. In the end, the amount I paid was the amount I was told it would be. Having spent more hours than I can count in Dr. Wada's office, I would regularily chat with his patients. I never heard on complaint. I was seen on time, my treatment was almost entirely painless, and Dr. Wada sees one patient at a time. You are never rushed, and I always felt tended to. That is something in a world where "time is money" and dents and doctors are treating as many people as they possibly can in a day. read more

I cannot understand why anyone would castigate Dr. Wada or his work. I have an extremely difficult dental problem, and have been to a number of general dentists over the years, and even more than one prosthodontist. He is the only one who found and corrected a "very slight twist" in my bite - wow! what an amazing difference! The terrible jaw aches and headaches I had for years - just stopped overnight. Add that to the professionalism I have experienced in his office, and with his staff, and no, I am not an employee, nor am I a friend, but only a very satisfied and grateful client. I went to one of the premier endodontists in this area recently for a root canal, and I can tell you that he was extremely impressed with the quality of work that he saw in my mouth. My experience with Dr. Wada has been nothing but excellent. I had lost several teeth and I knew that eventually over a period of several years, I would lose the remaining teeth, rather painfully. Dr. Wada explained to me what needed to be done and recommended a periodontist to assist with the extraction of all my remaining teeth and the insertion of implants. I spent many hours over many months from the preparation of temporary dentures, treatment after the extractions to the final product and I could not be happier with care I received. This type of work is not inexpensive, but I was told upfront what the costs would be and was treated more than fairly by everyone in that office. This review is about their billing practices only, their dental care gets good marks. Got a bill from them recently for a routine cleaning back in 2008. Apparently someone was cashing the insurance company checks that shouldn't have been, and so my account hasn't been credited as paid. It took a lot of phone calls for them to finally admit they made a mistake, however I am still getting bills showing I owe money. I'm going to be really bummed if I get sent to collections over this crap. If you go to them make sure you get everything pertaining to your account in writing. Dr. Wada is a good dentist. I've known him for years. My opinion is because the work he does is complicated and involved, I think when something either goes right, or wrong in the relationships involved, issues can get heated. Name calling and vindictiveness are never a solution. Money problems stemming from the economy seems to be bringing out the worst in everyone. I can say this: No treatment I have had has ever been "Sprung" on me; There was always a wriiten treatment plan and fees were always given in advance. Dr. Wada office is exceptional! They have the best hospitality and take extremely good care of their patients. I would recommend any of my family and friends to see Dr. Wada for Dental work, restorative implants and Dentures ect. He does by far the best restorative work I have ever seen and is very highly recommended Prosthodontist. In my opinion, the public may benefit from a peer review by the California dental board of this practitioner. Our experiences with his business practice's have been deplorable, and our experience with the materials or construction of, has also not been a good one? After nearly a year of non functioning temporary teeth , the temporaries may need to be replaced , or reconstructed, by one of his peers.....their opinion.....
