I had my wisdom teeth removed (all 4 at the same time, ouch haha) a few weeks ago and the care I received from the entire staff was top tier. My surgery went very smooth, aftercare was explained thoroughly, and billing was a very simple process. I was also quoted and paid a pretty low price, so that was a very nice bonus as I expected to pay much more. Post op follow up appt was optional and I opted out initially as I thought my recovery would be easy. I was wrong (sadly haha), and in some pretty good pain still about a week post op, which isn't super typical for WT removal. I made a quick phone call to the office and was scheduled the very next day for a follow up just to make sure no dry socket or anything awry was happening. I was reassured everything looked good and just needed to give it some more time. Thankfully now I feel great - just harder healing process because I'm "old" to be getting my WT out ;) I should mention that aftercare (visits, meds, etc) post op was included in the price of the treatment. I was urged by all staff to come back if/when needed and it was nice to feel like I wasn't being burdensome. I even got a check in the mail for a refund for part of my treatment because my insurance covered more than anticipated - really refreshing to see such honest bookkeeping! I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Antrobus, he is wonderful. He answers any and all questions and really makes patients feel comfortable. I would come back for any further oral surgery needs!

One day, I remembered a clinic where I was seen once when I broke my crown, and they were the only ones open that day. I googled "Oak" (all I remembered), called for an appointment, and Penelope on the other end was so sweet and accommodating -- I felt like I was talking to an old friend. When I arrived, I realized I'd gone to a different clinic, but since I was already there, I decided to stay. Penelope welcomed me like family, and the modest lobby with a lovely aquarium really helped calm my nerves. The highlight? Dr. Patrick Finn -- gentle, thorough, and with the lightest hands I've ever experienced. He explained everything clearly and made me feel at ease. The hygienist was also super friendly, and the lady who scheduled my follow-up with specialists was so organized. I jokingly told her I made a "really good mistake" ending up here -- turns out, it was one of the best mistakes I've made. Long story short: I'm now a happy patient, grateful I found such a caring team. Sometimes, mistakes really do lead to the best surprises.

But the moment I walked in the staff made me feel so calm & gave me peace in knowing I was in good hands. I can not thank the staff enough for their kindness, compassion & patience. Very nice dental office and wonderful staff!…read more I dread going to the dentist. I think the only time I've looked forward to a dental appointment was when I was a kid and the dental office had video game machines that I was excited to play in the waiting room. Oh, and they had prizes at the end of your visit for you to choose from too! Fast forward to adulthood and going to the dentist is really something I've never liked doing, especially when my regular dentist and his dental hygienist retired. Then I went several years meeting new dentists and staff as we relocated a few times. Thought we found a good dentist...and then they decided to not take our dental insurance anymore. :( So this is my long-winded explanation why I didn't go to the dentist for about 2-3 years. I don't have perfect teeth and I don't like the stress my body feels when I'm sitting in the chair with sharp instruments poking at my gums. But I finally decided I'd better stop slacking off and to find a dentist so at the very least I could use up the dental cleaning credits that insurance is paying for. ^_^ Looked on the Cigna website for dentists in our area and narrowed down my search to a couple, with Dr. Slate being one of them. Yelp reviews didn't seem too bad either. Decided to ask my orthodontist's office (Dunn Orthodontics is awesome, FYI) if they had recommendations for a good dentist, since I had such an amazing experience with our Invisalign journey. Lo and behold, they gave me 2 names and Dr. Slate was one of them! I took that as a sign that Pure Dentistry was where I should go. Setting up an appointment was convenient. Location was easy to find. Parking wasn't too bad. (Just be aware Rocklin Academy is close by and pick up/drop off time might be tricky getting in and out) Met Rachel, the dental assistant who did a bunch of X-rays and was so sweet, warm and friendly. Then I met Dr. Slate, who is also extremely friendly and likable. Gotta love people who are skilled at their profession but have engaging personalities and are fun to talk to also! He shared a funny story about trying to get a coveted chocolate chip recipe from my orthodontist's wife, which was amusing to envision. Then it was time for my cleaning. Met dental hygienist Victoria and we had some laughs about "6-7" and other kid/teen slang. She was fun to talk to. TBH, the dental cleaning was a bit rough. I guess that's what I get for not going to the dentist for so many years. I could feel myself tensing up while she was scraping away tartar and then checking/poking my gums. Victoria even told me that I might have a bit of a headache later that day because she really went at it. She suggested ibuprofen. I think I kinda laughed it off because I don't usually get headaches. But man...was she right! I did have a bit of a tension headache later that afternoon. Not sure if it was because the idea was planted in my head (psychologically?!) or if it was from the high-pitched cleaning tools (next time I'll bring ear plugs) or if it was from the more-aggressive teeth cleaning. But at least she warned me about it, lol. Victoria also introduced me to Cocofloss. I had heard about it when we were looking into dental flosses a while back but I had never tried it. She gave me a sample and told me they even had different flavored flosses! Long story short, I think about Victoria and Pure Dentistry every night I'm flossing with my Cocofloss now, lol. We even ordered the different flavored Cocofloss, to make flossing a little more fun each night. So then it was time to leave and Victoria walked me up to the front where I met Celine, another super friendly employee! We chatted and then she gave me some cool Pure Dentistry swag! ^_^ They even had a little fridge with cold water and flavored sparkling water for patients also. It's the little things... While I'm still super nervous and reluctant about going to the dentist and my future visits, I can definitely say that Pure Dentistry alleviates a lot of my fears and they have a topnotch staff and a lovely office. They're great at what they do, make you feel like a valued customer/patient, and give you helpful advice for good dental health. (I'll probably schedule a full body massage after each dental visit in the future, so I can create a positive association between dental visits and relaxation, haha!) Highly recommend Pure Dentistry for people like me who are scared of dentists but also know the importance of dental care! You'll love Dr. Slate and his fantastic staff! :D

I first came to know Cedar Dental because I have a son who suffers from dental anxiety. I was told…read morehe might need additional sedation, and Cedar Dental informed me they offer both IV and oral sedation. Since I've always been uncomfortable with IV sedation, I was relieved to find there was an oral option. My son initially had a tooth pulled and a bone graft done under oral sedation at Cedar Dental, and we needed to schedule further treatment, including a root canal. I spent about 45 minutes speaking with Dr. Amy Kiesselbach's team, going over the procedure and the multiple future appointments he would need. Lindsay was very helpful in discussing what insurance benefits I had left, and we developed a treatment plan that would allow me to best utilize those benefits. During our conversation, Lindsay verbally quoted me a cost of $776 + $173.60 from insurance, and an out-of-pocket of $557.40. She also called in the prescription for oral sedation, being fully aware of my son's history and our plan to use oral sedation again. Later that day, I received a text with a link to a full written quote, but I didn't realize the link was there and didn't scrutinize the digital version since we had just reviewed everything thoroughly on the phone. Unfortunately, several charges were left out of the verbal quote: a $600 charge for oral sedation, a build-up, and a laser procedure not covered by insurance. On the day of the root canal, I was shocked to learn that my total out-of-pocket was over $1,000, including a previous balance I wasn't aware of. I was not at the appointment and had to give my credit card over the phone before they would begin work on my now-sedated son. A few hours later, I was informed that Dr. Kiesselbach would not complete the procedure because my son, who was under sedation, had reached up in discomfort a few times. Instead of giving him a break, they restrained him and ultimately refused to finish the work unless I paid an additional $2,700 for IV sedation and a crown despite me clearly stating from the beginning that I was not comfortable with IV sedation. I told them I would find another dentist, at which point they informed me that there would be no refund for the incomplete work and that they would still bill my insurance in full. They even admitted they would adjust the coding to ensure they received payment. This entire experience was extremely upsetting. It felt like my child's needs were exploited for profit, and I was manipulated into paying far more than I should have. Thankfully, I found a new dentist who was not only able to complete the root canal without any sedation, but my out-of-pocket cost was only $191. I would not recommend Cedar Dental to anyone, especially parents of children with special needs or anxiety. Transparency and patient care should come before profit, and sadly, that was not my experience here
