Very nice dental office and wonderful staff! I dread going to the dentist. I think the only time I've looked forward to a dental appointment was when I was a kid and the dental office had video game machines that I was excited to play in the waiting room. Oh, and they had prizes at the end of your visit for you to choose from too! Fast forward to adulthood and going to the dentist is really something I've never liked doing, especially when my regular dentist and his dental hygienist retired. Then I went several years meeting new dentists and staff as we relocated a few times. Thought we found a good dentist...and then they decided to not take our dental insurance anymore. :( So this is my long-winded explanation why I didn't go to the dentist for about 2-3 years. I don't have perfect teeth and I don't like the stress my body feels when I'm sitting in the chair with sharp instruments poking at my gums. But I finally decided I'd better stop slacking off and to find a dentist so at the very least I could use up the dental cleaning credits that insurance is paying for. ^_^ Looked on the Cigna website for dentists in our area and narrowed down my search to a couple, with Dr. Slate being one of them. Yelp reviews didn't seem too bad either. Decided to ask my orthodontist's office (Dunn Orthodontics is awesome, FYI) if they had recommendations for a good dentist, since I had such an amazing experience with our Invisalign journey. Lo and behold, they gave me 2 names and Dr. Slate was one of them! I took that as a sign that Pure Dentistry was where I should go. Setting up an appointment was convenient. Location was easy to find. Parking wasn't too bad. (Just be aware Rocklin Academy is close by and pick up/drop off time might be tricky getting in and out) Met Rachel, the dental assistant who did a bunch of X-rays and was so sweet, warm and friendly. Then I met Dr. Slate, who is also extremely friendly and likable. Gotta love people who are skilled at their profession but have engaging personalities and are fun to talk to also! He shared a funny story about trying to get a coveted chocolate chip recipe from my orthodontist's wife, which was amusing to envision. Then it was time for my cleaning. Met dental hygienist Victoria and we had some laughs about "6-7" and other kid/teen slang. She was fun to talk to. TBH, the dental cleaning was a bit rough. I guess that's what I get for not going to the dentist for so many years. I could feel myself tensing up while she was scraping away tartar and then checking/poking my gums. Victoria even told me that I might have a bit of a headache later that day because she really went at it. She suggested ibuprofen. I think I kinda laughed it off because I don't usually get headaches. But man...was she right! I did have a bit of a tension headache later that afternoon. Not sure if it was because the idea was planted in my head (psychologically?!) or if it was from the high-pitched cleaning tools (next time I'll bring ear plugs) or if it was from the more-aggressive teeth cleaning. But at least she warned me about it, lol. Victoria also introduced me to Cocofloss. I had heard about it when we were looking into dental flosses a while back but I had never tried it. She gave me a sample and told me they even had different flavored flosses! Long story short, I think about Victoria and Pure Dentistry every night I'm flossing with my Cocofloss now, lol. We even ordered the different flavored Cocofloss, to make flossing a little more fun each night. So then it was time to leave and Victoria walked me up to the front where I met Celine, another super friendly employee! We chatted and then she gave me some cool Pure Dentistry swag! ^_^ They even had a little fridge with cold water and flavored sparkling water for patients also. It's the little things... While I'm still super nervous and reluctant about going to the dentist and my future visits, I can definitely say that Pure Dentistry alleviates a lot of my fears and they have a topnotch staff and a lovely office. They're great at what they do, make you feel like a valued customer/patient, and give you helpful advice for good dental health. (I'll probably schedule a full body massage after each dental visit in the future, so I can create a positive association between dental visits and relaxation, haha!) Highly recommend Pure Dentistry for people like me who are scared of dentists but also know the importance of dental care! You'll love Dr. Slate and his fantastic staff! :D read more

We had a great experience with Dr. Powell (the oral surgeon) when he pulled 4 of my son's teeth. He did an excellent job, and we were very happy with the care he provided. My son was under IV sedation, and it was perfect, he didn't remember anything, which was exactly what we wanted. In the past, when I had IV sedation, I kept waking up and felt pain I definitely was scared of the same thing happening to my son, but Dr. Powell was very skilled and attentive, making the procedure smooth and comfortable. He is a fantastic doctor, and his team is also wonderful. My son loved him, and I was very impressed with his professionalism and bedside manner. I can't praise him enough for how great he is! The front desk reception women are amazing, they're so nice and welcoming, which really made us feel comfortable from the start, we also visited Dr. Slate. After consulting with him I have decided to make him my son's new dentist. He was equally fantastic, very good with my son and made him feel very comfortable. Most beautiful gorgeous that you could ever imagine! This dentist is capable of producing them. His staff are absolutely fantastic. My good friend Rachel, in particular. I am a very sensitive patient, especially around the nerves and in the gums. She's always been super gentle & so positive. She's always saying such encouraging things.. I can be a real hellcat when it comes to Patience and even sometimes to being understanding. I've been a very rough patient for this company. For years I had the privilege of being worked on by a family dentist. That changed about15 years ago. I got good at cleaning and caring for my teeth. I found a couple dentistry's to give me a cleaning but the service was, sad to say, not up to par. Rude, uninformative, not very helpful. My wife found Pure Dentistry and I am very happy she did. First stepping through the door I was greeted and helped by very kind people. They were happy to answer any questions and assist me in getting the information if they couldn't. Dr. Slate is very kind, informational and is happy to answer any questions. He is great at his profession and has clearly formed a solid team, and even more so, a solid community of hard working people. Thank you again for everything. As someone with dental anxiety, I was nervous heading to my appointment this past week. To my relief, the staff here was so friendly and welcoming. I didn't feel like I was being treated as an inconvenience because of my anxieties as I have with past experiences. I felt heard and cared for. I would give 6 stars if I could. He treats my whole family. He's very professional, talented and NEVER pushy. We always felt comfortable and my children love him and the whole team. When I read reviews here that are one star based on the price, well, that's not fair to give him one star based on that. You need to do your research before you come to the office. He's not a cheap dentist but then again, you pay for what you get, and let me tell you, he's worth every penny. Again, the staff is wonderful- the office is pristine. My wife and I's experience coming to Pure Dentistry is SO far above the quality of care and customer service we have ever experienced with any other dentist in our lifetimes. Everyone from the front desk, to our RDA (Big shout out to Courtney for being awesome!) to Dr. Slate himself, everyone is super friendly and hospitable. Courtney, the RDA who has worked on both my wife and I always does an amazing job walking us through every step she takes to make us the most comfortable. Also, they feel like family because they remember the details we share with them about our personal lives, showing how they genuinely care about their patients. Now onto the technology... OMG the technology they use for the teeth scans, x-rays, photos, and digital models are IMPECCABLE; the most technologically advanced dental office I've been to. They are very clear about recommendations needed, but never pressure getting us anything we aren't comfortable with. I was recommended to this dentist from a former coworker. He always had a very pleasant experience. I am pretty much frightened of the dentist from my past experiences but my experience at pure dentistry completely changed that. Staff is very polite and warm welcoming, even sharing that I hate the dentist they always try their best to make me feel comfortable. I went in for a few fillings and had very very minimal pain the next day. I think one of the best things you don't see at other dentists is how personal your dentist can be. The staff is extremely pleasant. The office equipment is state of the art. However, Dr. Slate is extremely arrogant. I mistook his arrogance for confidence and confidence to envelop integrity. He took it upon himself to reshape my tooth -made a big mistake and refused to own his poor execution. I had to beg him four times to own up to his mistake. Only after I said I would pay him a second time to correct his work, did he offer to consider a discount for the redo. Delta Dental had to get involved to ensure he follow policy and procedure. He is as arrogant as a hairstylist who thinks they know what is best for their client. Dr. Slate's pride will be his downfall sooner or later. read more

First off I want to say how much I absolutely dread going to the dentist, I dread all of it. From sitting in the lobby awaiting my demise, to laying in the chair feeling like I'm a lab experiment waiting to be poked and prodded. Pure Dentistry broke the mold, they were great. The ladies and gentlemen at this office made me feel welcome. They understood that there are people like me who absolutely dread going the dentist and they worked with me to make me feel comfortable. (To give Dr. Slate a fair shake I waited until after I saw my Oncologist before writing this review. Also, I just had x-rays and a cleaning done less than 3 months ago prior to moving here.) I came to see Dr. Slate for pain under a crown. Not only did Dr. Slate want to do extra diagnostic tests that were unnecessary (which I verified with my Oncologist) he became agitated when I told him that I felt that way. At one point during our conversation he had the audacity to use the threat of my cancer coming back, or spreading, in order to "persuade" me to do all the testing he wanted to do. There was so much more to the conversation that was unsettling but that tactic was what made me tell him that we were done and I left his office. Just know that it seems if you have good insurance he will find a way to use it and if you disagree with his plan of action then he won't help you at all. The one star goes to Rachel and Priscilla who were very friendly and accommodating with making my new patient appointment. I have been struggling with declining oral health ever since I had my children. I just recently decided it was time to take the steps towards a complete overhaul and to get my teeth fixed so that I can feel confidant when I smile instead of always trying to hide my teeth when I smile and talk. I went in for a one on one with Dr Slate and he took the time to sit down and give me a comprehensive and detailed plan of action. Then he gave me different ways in which we can make what I want a reality, as far as the dental plan, and the finances that are involved. I am not wealthy but he gave me a plan that I can handle. I left feeling EXCITED, ECSTATIC, ELATED!! He has been my dentist for the last seven years and I feel beyond comfortable when I go there. The staff are warm, welcoming, and kind. Nobody is snobby or dismissive. They TRULY care about getting you your best, in health and esthetics. I cannot recommend this place enough and I'm so excited I can finally start the process on the smile I've always wanted.
