Asher was so friendly, a great listener, and gave me some tips and tricks for my hair. Also mentioned leaving a note for my next appointment to allow a little time to help me regarding product and process for working with trying to get my curly/frizzy hair to look nice so I don't always have to straighten and style with heat . I usually have Kaitlyn but she wasn't available, and she previously has been just in kind so helpful and my hair looks and feels fantastic with her each time....and I'm always a little nervous with new stylists. I am 2 for 2 at Craig Berns! The front desk staff are also very friendly and when I call to schedule or have to make arrangements due to work they are always helpful. Great gem of a place. I go the Vanessa for my haircuts and she is the bomb dot com. She is very pleasent to talk to and is great at the consultation to figure out what you want and what your haircut goal is. My haircut is $52 and it is worth it every time . You pay for the service and quality. They carry aveda products here. Front desk staff is always pleasent to deal with and are super friendly. You can book online through their website. Side note: they have a ton of workers here that work together at the same time during the day so if you want to come during a more quiet time I suggest booking an appointment on a weekday night closer to closing time and not during the holiday time of course. You ca always ask them when a more quiet time is as well. They give you $10 off your first visit and a free product. They have street parking out front as well as a parking lot. read more

Returned for complimentary shampoo reconditioning treatment from last experience of hair being burned. Before drying it, they put styling gel in my hair, even though I told them I do not want extra product in my hair - oh, this will make your straight hair stay in place. Yes, it did hide the sizzled pieces, but it made my hair look super greasy all day. I was told that they had never seen someone's hair get burned at the salon, and it was probably because I am from Waukesha where we have bad water, so maybe the combination of bad water (mineral build up) and hot iron make me an unideal candidate for flat ironing - something they could have never known. The issue is that I have a water softener and a filter on my shower. Hmm... I was also told that another issue could have been an electricity surge that changed the temperature of the flat iron without the stylist knowing. Overall, I was really frustrated that they did not take ownership for the individual's mistake. The stylist was too busy jumping between two customers that three people touched my hair before the end of the haircut; and in the middle my hair was half pinned up (not dried) and half dried, when they started to flat iron it. I am appalled because I never asked for it to be flat ironed; I asked for more "shape" - layers that would curl around my face. I am frustrated because I have never had this happen to me before. My hair is not colored; I do not flat iron it. I had thick, healthy hair and now its been sizzled and I have broken ends of all different lengths throughout my head (almost two months out). I have had a medical professional look at the split ends, and they said, wow, your hair is burned, look at the lack of color on the split ends and the unique texture/how it has a little curl. Craig Berns Salon owner is nice, but she was in complete denial and made me to feel the guilty one. She offered a complimentary "shampoo reconditioning" which is really a free bonus because your water is so awful. Too bad I'm still out my $40 with tons of sizzled hair strands all all different lengths. All to say: I got burned by Craig Berns Salon and they did not care. Nope, I cannot recommend you. read more

I had a facial at Craig Berns yesterday. I have to admit at the out start that I haven't had a facial for a long time and that I didn't read the services provided carefully. When I used to get a facial, it included black head extractions. I don't have that problem especially and I didn't ask for it - but was still kind of surprised that it wasn't included. Covid impacted my getting a facial for over a year. They say it's up to you whether you want your service provider to wear a mask but I wasn't prepared for not knowing whether or not my provider was vaccinated. When I asked whether she was I was told that they weren't allowed to answer that question. So - I had to ask her to wear a mask. You might want to tell them when making an appointment that you only want services provided by someone who has been vaccinated. I'm old with multiple conditions so it's important to me - I recognize it may not be important to others. The other thing that bothered me about this $125 facial was that at least 1/4 of the time was spent massaging my shoulders and upper arms. It felt good but that's not what I was there for and it seemed like just so much filler to extend the time spent. Everyone was very friendly and I loved the setting but will be more careful in selecting services again and it probably won't be here. read more

I decided to give this place a try after I felt my stylist wasn't listening to me anymore. The salon itself is very nice and all the employees are very welcoming and pleasant. However, I did not get the expected results from my hair color after 2 visits. I came in with very warm golden highlights and asked for a cool ash blonde. Both times I left with warm golden highlights. I even showed the colorist pictures. I am disappointed that I did not leave with the expected results and that my colorist did not even check on how I felt about the results after they sent me to the hair stylist. My usual stylist is out on maternity leave so I decided to go where my sister works as an esthetician. I requested Meghan for getting my hair done and she did a fantastic job. I had a lot of purple in my hair and was told it'd be extremely difficult to get out with aveda products since the purple was a direct dye. It was horribly faded from an intense purple, faded pink, to gray. Meghan spent over 3 hours on me highlighting most of my hair along with shadow rooting. I couldn't believe how well it turned out! She definitely got 95% of the purple out, and whatever's left is very discrete just like she said it'd be. So I'm pretty blonde now where the purple was and I love it! So much better. She made my day and was super patient, and really did an amazing job. read more

Always a fantastic massage! Amanda is so in tune with what needs attention. She never gives a "cookie cutter" massage. It is always unique to what you need that day. The room is comfortable and warm and relaxing. The staff at Craig Berns are always very welcoming and helpful. The same thing happened to me as it did with another reviewer below... I got a disingenuous letter terminating me as a client after being a loyal and good customer for several years. It wasn't until I shared feedback regarding someone new that they scheduled me with, due to scheduling issues, that I was terminated. I shared the feedback discreetly with the front desk. Did not make a big deal of it. FYI...I also left a generous tip for stylist as I could tell it was her inexperience, not intent, to do a poor job. This business, apparently, only cares about "customer satisfaction" IF the customer marches in step and doesn't share their opinion. Feedback is not accepted. Phone calls are not returned. If they ask you how the service was, don't take the bait unless you want to receive a termination letter. read more

Not only did Jen give me the best hair cut I have ever had but everyone in the business is super friendly, helpful and very experienced with both styling and Mens cuts. They didn't try to push tons of products on me as I walked out the door either which is the reason I hate going for a haircut. I went to craig burns salon to try and find a new hair place. I had been going to the same two people that I followed from beauty school thru at least five different salons. When both girls went out of town craig burns was recommended by several friends that I had known a long time and done some charity photo work with. I called craig burns to be sure they did styling the way I had been getting for years. I made my appointment and the stylist did not do anything close to what I wanted. I left some detailed feedback and after a couple weeks the salon owner called and said that they did not have the ability to do what I had wanted , but could come back and try a better stylist but be sure to bring pictures, I was given to the desk and explained exactly what I wanted and given an appointment. When I drove back to the salon ( an 80 mile round trip from my home ) I arrived 20 minutes early and the stylist was very nice, the owner came over and when I showed her the pictures the owner said " I hope you don't want that !! " and just made me feel beyond uncomfortable. I was feeling horrible and the manager said that maybe I should just go. I drove away and then decided to still try the stylist despite the bad experience with the owner. but even though I would still be starting about my scheduled appointment time she was not available. I left a detailed message for the owner and got no response . I requested to try the stylist without the owner and never got a response or refund.I had asked that the stylist get the refund since I felt bad that she would lose money on my visit, but I never heard that she got the money either. I have never felt worse and more stressed with any salon I have ever been to. The building is clean and very nice, some of the people there were very nice. I can only say that between the desk and the owner the communication is not good. I don't know if men are welcome at the salon ??? They made me feel quite unwelcome. read more

Very disappointed with this salon!! Received poor results with color.When My dissatisfaction was expressed,there was no attempt at correction or suggestions. The initial hair assesment was terribly lacking,and, offerings of information on styles and proper hair maintenance was not forth-coming. Would not recommend this salon . I went to Craig Bern's salon for a haircut...mainly to get more layers. I went to Desiree, who I went to several months prior and had a good experience. This time I asked for some more layers and a trim. What I got was a HORRIBLE haircut!!! When I said I did not like it; Desiree said "what do you want me to do? Start over?" in a very sarcastic tone. I kept asking for more layers and she kept saying "you have too much hair." This was a very bad experience and I would never recommend going to Desiree at Craig Bern's Salon. read more

I don't usually write review but I must tell everyone about the fantastic experience I had at Craig Berns Salon & Spa. I didn't know what to get my new daughter in law to be for Christmas. As she has been a single mom (she has a beautiful little girl) I thought perhaps she didn't often get to treat herself to some pampering so I decided on a Spa gift certificate. During her visit we went over to the salon and she had a mani/pedicure which she loved. But here is the great part...I had not purchased any treatments for her daughter because she was sort of small but we took her along for the visit. Karen the nail tech WAY above and beyond and offered to paint the little girls nails. To add to that, she placed little pink hearts on each nail (we are talking a small child's nails now) and covered them with clear sealer so that she had a heart on each finger! Wow, talk about customer service. Thank you Karen and than Craig Berns Salon & Spa for caring about people. read more
