It's never overly loud/busy which makes the experience relaxing. They also sell tons of great hair products. I generally go for a little trim/clean up, but most recently I decided I needed a good 6/7 inches chopped off. Vanessa does so great and listening to my exact requests and delivering them so wonderfully. Love that it's not a blunt cut, and how well she does thinning it all out. Will continue coming back!

I was offered a beverage, and had some delicious coffee with pumpkin spice creamer; it definitely woke me up! Kellie was very thorough and left no hair untouched. The chairs they have here for the rinse/shampoo&condition treatment are FANTASTIC! Not only are they very comfortable, they have a massage feature as well. I could have laid in that chair for an hour or more. Seriously, it was amazing. My hair was cut exactly how I wanted and it continues to wash/dry/and fix perfectly. She even showed me how to use a little makeup to make them pop a bit. I also love that she didn't use any oils or products after threading. I stopped getting eyebrow services because I always seemed to break out from the "calming" oils that were applied post-shaping. I'm sure you can request it if you want, but I'm glad I got it without. I was gifted with a certificate and was happily surprised to find an Aveda salon right here in Wauwatosa! I wanted a massage, but they no longer offer them. So, I opted for a new service I've never had before - a facial! I made an appointment for a 90-minute Dual Exfoliation Peel and was paired with Lisa, who is absolutely incredible. Lisa walked me through every step of the process as I was a newbie. Starting with changing into a sarong, slipped, and comfy robe, we did a foot soak and light foot/leg massage. Then back to the private room where I laid on the table. The lights were turned down to a calming level which was nice. The one really off-putting thing in this otherwise calming room was the ceiling - there were HUGE brown water stains on the ceiling tiles that were absolutely disgusting. It's not hard to replace a few tiles, so that surprised me. Luckily my eyes were closed most of the time. Also the music wasn't particularly relaxing with drum beats and chanting sometimes. She started with a "sensory journey" where I got to choose an oil scent I found pleasing out of three. Then she exfoliated my whole face with a nice scrub, really focusing on getting the dead skin layer off and not just "petting" my face with the product. Between each mask I got a hot towel, which was heavenly being wiped on my neck and face. We did a chemical peel (not like you're picturing, remember Aveda is all natural and vegan!) where the cooling part was first, and the second was a nice warming sensation. The facial even including a light neck massage and she did a wonderful job on my arms and hands. The results were shocking - I did look smooth and refreshed, and learned more about proper skincare routines for my skin. I 100% absolutely recommend this salon, this service, and I want to be friends with Lisa - she was so friendly and great! The price tag was very high for regular treatments ($150 for the 90 minute treatment) so I don't know when I'd be able to afford to come back - but they did a wonderful job. They also have a full Aveda shop in the front to stock up on your products, really nice to not have to go into Mayfair or to pay shipping. Gave the owner/manager an opportunity to rectify this very upsetting experience, but she became defensive, indicating she would "discuss with staff at their next meeting". Really? How unprofessional and inappropriate. I get my hair done faithfully every 6-8 weeks and never need extra product. The stylist begged to style my hair, which consisted of using her hands to twist my wet hair. This was $27 up-charge unbeknown to me! Had I taken a picture of the discarded "extra" product mentioned, I would have posted as it was about 1/3 of a bowl. Clearly appeared to have been dispensed for the extra $$ which wasn't needed or used. Would have given an extra star had I not been taken advantage of. Seems as if it was a communication issue. But the fact remains, when the owner/manager is given an opportunity to rectify and does nothing, says a lot for that business on how they treat clients. #1 attribute in any successful business is customer service. They do, however give new clients a sample "gift bag" which consists of some of the samples Aveda gives when you purchase sets or liters. So to ease my mind, I felt as if I purchased the gift bag. Note: They do offer a $20 coupon on their website to new clients. Thank goodness I remembered or I would have been even more disappointed. The stylist should acknowledge new clients with this advertised promotion. Luckily I mentioned it after the shocking total cost was announced. All I asked was that they don't start the layers on the top layer of hair but they could be started on the next layer (they could touch the root of the hair in every other layer, I just didn't want the strip look on the top of my head) so far everyone I spoke with was extremely difficult to deal with. I came as a walk-in and was seen immediately. Apparently right now Sonia is here just Fridays and Saturdays. Sonia was pleasant, patient, and interested in my feedback to make sure I was happy with the final eyebrow shape. Good lighting so I was really able to see if any little tweaks were needed, which Sonia took care of. I also briefly met Mr. Dino and spoke for a while with his daughter. Overall good vibes about the place with very reasonable rates for threading. (The vibes and rates are so good I plan to try them out for a haircut too!)

I went for eye brow threading and one of the stylist said that she does better brow wax. I feel so stupid that I believed her and went for brow wax. I told her that I just need the brows to be shaped, not THINNED. 1st she took half an hr to wax. 2nd wax was all over my hair and if that wasn't bad enough she screwed up my right eyebrow. She thinned my right eyebrow in so bad that I had to use a brow pencil to make it look presentable. I wanted to cry so bad there, but I took a deep breath and went to the counter to pick my stuff and complain and she had the nerve to say that oh we usually charge $15 but since I was such a mess today we will just charge you $12. Lady you might as well charge the full amount. If it wasn't for my husband I would have paid full price for screwing my eyebrow up. The salon itself smelled bad and was dirty. I would never go to this salon. EVER!
