If I could leave 0 stars, I would. We arrived at 9pm on a Thursday to eat a seafood boil, I've been craving all week. We instantly got dirty looks from the hostess and one of the other staff ladies. The other staff lady barely even acknowledged us and took us to our table without saying a word. She threw our menus down and left without saying anything. While waiting, we heard a snarky comment about us arriving at 9pm... There's a whole hour left until closing, they stop seating at 9:30Pm and close at 10pm. We decided to take our food to go due to me and my fiancé not feeling welcomed. We got our drinks, we ordered water and it tastes like it came from the sink, how can water taste so gross. We have been here multiple times before and had a great experience but this time made us feel like we should not come back. The other staff lady who was straight up nasty to us was a more bigger set lady, she has blonde hair and a bun. She stood behind the bar tonight, but how can you hire someone who has a nasty attitude. Restaurant setting was nice as usual with sports on and country music. This was my first time visiting Crafty Crab. We had the appetizer of steamed oysters with their version of everything sauce. The crackers were fresh and so was the oysters! These oysters were so delicious! Then for the main entree I had the bag of blue crabs with noodles added! I was in seafood and noodle heaven with this dish! The service was spot on, the host and wait staff were friendly as well as attentive! I really enjoyed this entire experience at the Crafty Crab! This location has now been my go to spot for crab legs in Lakeland. Their hours are very convenient and consistent. For this particular visit I needed curbside service because I had my baby in the car. When I was on the phone with one of the gentlemen, he said it would not be an issue and they will come out to my car for me. All I would need to do is call the restaurant. So I placed my order which was two lobster, snow crab, and headless shrimp combos and an order of half a dozen cook oysters. There was a slight language barrier where I had to repeat myself a few times but other than that it was a fairly easy transition. However when I got to the restaurant a young lady who picked up the phone said they do not offer curbside service because I would need to come inside to pay. I asked if I could pay over the phone and she said no. Then I asked to speak to the manager and instead she offered to come get my card and go back-and-forth and do the curbside service herself. I appreciated her effort but I would appreciate it more if they would simply communicate. All in all the food was good. Everything taste very fresh. I ordered the boom seasoning with medium heat. However it tasted a little too salty at times. I did really enjoy the lobster and the shrimp. The crab legs were a little too soft to snap sometimes. In fact most of the time I ended up peeling the shell. Yet the potatoes and corn were cooked just how I liked it. If you ever get a to go order with them I would suggest buying aluminum pans to help reheat your food in the oven. read more

They have great lunch combos. I had clams, shrimp and I added a pound of king crab legs. My sauce was garlic butter and wow soooovgood! Spice medium. I ordered onion rings and they're crunchy and panko crusted the way I love them. Nautical looking place. Nice bar. My server was excellent and the staff were very friendly! I had lobster with corn on the cob and potatoes with medium heat garlic butter seasoning and my husband had mussels and clams with sweet potato fries and corn on the cob with medium Cajun seasoning. We were not disappointed whatsoever!! Corn on the cob just melted in the mouth off the cob! Seafood was perfectly seasoned and steamed to perfection! I approached manager regarding the piece by piece delivery of my meal, asking for clarification as to why it took 20 minutes to get the order completed... fried oysters and fries... ten minutes later cole slaw, and another 10 for the fried shrimp to arrive. My response from him was "I am sorry...." At which point he went back to washing dishes. I may be more understanding if the restaurant was busy but it was at about 20% capacity and this was a simple fried order. All told we had over 700.00 at our table including an 18% service charge... I think I will stick with popeye's for shrimp at this rate.... I get it hot on time and it tastes just as good. Our waitress, Amber, was awesome--friendly, courteous and attentive. We couldn't have asked for better. The interior is fun with all the seaside decor. I enjoyed my 'Blue Hawaii' and hubby said the IPA was very good. We will definitely go back and try a seafood boil! I've given this place chance after chance after chance. I like their shrimp and the way they season their sausage. Other than that, everything is lacking. My biggest pet peeve is that when you order food to go, they give you the food, AND THATS IT. They don't give you bibs, gloves, wet wipes, nothing. It's like since you aren't eating inside the restaurant they don't care at all if you have everything you need and that is horrible customer service. To me it's common sense to provide more than just the bag they throw your food in when you order to go. I'm going to start going to Mr. & Mrs. Crab from now on since there's one in town. The manager who is also a bartender is so rude.. I was a very loyal customer until today. It was a roach crawling on the floor and instead of making an announcement we tried to politely call him to tell he what the issue is, he continues to call the waitress which isn't acceptable because you're the manager. He finally decided to come over to our table and we explained to him what the issue is and he claimed he didn't see the roach!! Ummm sir that roach is big but he continued to lie. Okay so at this point appetites are lost and we are ready to go. The young lady comes over and it's explained to her by one of the guest in our party that she is willing to pay for her drink but no she will not pay for the food that isn't eaten.. he gets so mad and stated "okay you know what it's all free go to Mr and Mrs. Crab". 1. We didn't ask for anything free especially food that literally hasn't been touched 2. If a customer has a complaint as a manager you're supposed to listen not get so angry especially when we're telling you we see a roach 3. If you're a manager be prepared to have corporate called on you with an email sent. I have been to this restaurant a couple times prior to today 3/25/21 and I've never had an experience like I did today. So, on a special menu the have "happy hour" specials that consist of draft beer $3.00, calamari for $6.99, wings $5.99, and frozen drinks for $5.00. Anyway, ordered calamari which was good, ordered the frozen margarita mango flavored and I confirmed with the waitress that it is included in the $5.00 special and she said, "yes". The bill comes and I was charged $8.50 for the drinks. It's not that I couldn't pay, mind you I was spending over $110. dollars at this restaurant and the manager argues with me that a "margarita" and "daiquiri " are a different mix and that the margaritas are $8.50!! Well, the advertisement for happy hour states "frozen drinks for $5.00", which is what I got! Either way, where was the customer service? Why was the manager arguing with me about a few dollars off on drinks that I was given false information on? Unfortunately, this experience has ruined any future plans of me or my family patronizing this restaurant!! Yes, I am spreading the word on the treatment I received today!!! Thanks, but no thanks!
