There used to be a little shop called Picalilly which had great little gifts and cool items, but they long since closed. It has been over six years since I lived in the area, and while visiting for what was unfortunately my grandfather's funeral I decided to visit the old downtown again. We popped into this shop and I was so happy to see another gift shop in the area like this. While this is more mainstream than mystical, there are some really good finds here. We didn't have too much to spend but I found some adorably funny shirts in back and they happened to be on sale for $3 each. I bought two and the lady behind the counter (who told me they'd been there about five years, but most townspeople tend to not even realize they are there) threw in a hilarious Moose calendar with our purchase. We had a nice little chat, and I later told all my family (from the area and afar) about the place. Even friends whom I knew passed through the area from time to time. Great little shop, especially for the customer service and friendliness of those there. :) Already have their calendar on the wall!

What is it with the bad attitude at this store? North Conway is a friendly town but you won't find…read moreit here. Such a whimsical name of an establishment (Christmas Tree Shop just sounds wonderful). But everyone who works there is like an old, nasty elf! In the ten or so times I've come in, I've either been grimaced at, dismissed or rudely spoken to. It's just a negative, not-so-nice place, certainly not representative of what's outside their store (it's an otherwise generally friendly town). Case in point: as a Californian, I'd never tried Moxie Soda but wanted to try some when I decided to buy it there. At checkout, was so excited to try it and thought I'd express my fun enthusiasm to the unfriendly checkout lady. Her retort was off-putting: "it tastes like cough syrup!" and added a lot of other unwarranted insults, with a contradictory interjection. She was being unnecessarily rough! I responded by initially offering a kind chuckle. But I later came to understand, because she was deadpan, it was a dig against me, diminishing me and my enthusiasm, not to mention questioning my choice of buy. Ouch! The prices are good and the store is clean and organized (which is why it deserves an extra star) but the people who work there are either dismissive or unnecessarily rough! I intuit they perhaps deal with extenuating circumstances that makes them dislike their job or simply don't like customers. Please, staff: customers are not your enemy.

That being said, Brick and Mortar is the perfect LOCAL shop for your holiday shopping needs specializing in home-kitchen-garden items. The layout and store front are beautifully organized offering unique, one of a kind items perfect for gifts or personal indulgence. They currently have some of the most gorgeous Christmas ornaments I've ever seen and sell an array of The Woods merchandise including Maine-made sea bags. After one visit I am already in love with this store and can't wait to do all my Christmas shopping right in Norway! COVID-19 has definitely had its setbacks but I am so happy this store has emerged despite it all-- PLEASE SHOP LOCAL!

The owner couldn't have been more patient and helpful as he took his time to show us so many options. Unlike other stores of this kind, there was no hard sell here at this shop, and everything seemed to be much better priced than the larger shops in town. We ended up ordering matching Maine gemstone rings to be crafted by Richard, the owner. Can't wait to see the result.

Not only is this book store well lit, well organized, and overflowing with beautiful items, but the customer service is out of this world. We entered the store in hopes of finding a gift for our good friends daughter who is turning one in the following days and were overwhelmed with beautiful books to pick from. In addition to the lovely books were adorable toys, puzzles, and clothing options for any little one in your life. (I may have bought my daughter a few things while in the store too.) I saw an adorable little wooden train toy in the play area of the store and brought it up to the front desk in hopes she could help me find another one just like it-- there were no other trains sets in the store but she allowed me to buy the one from the store! I love supporting local businesses and this is one to get behind. Perfect for a gift for any book lover or any person who loves durable, quality, Maine based items. I am excited to make the Tribune my regular book store after moving back to Maine after living in Nevada for the last 5 years. Cant forget to mention there is also an upstairs to the store that I was told has beautiful clothing items. (Unfortunately I ran out of time today and did not get to browse around upstairs.) I first communicated with Creaser Jewelers via email, and they were very responsive and helpful. When I finally made it into the store, I felt very at ease. The staff was happy to show me as many rings as I wanted to see. They eagerly helped me search within my fairly modest budget, and they never pressured me to make a purchase I wasn't sure of. In fact, they encouraged me to be 100% certain before putting any money down. At first, the ring I wanted seemed to be out of my budget. The saleswoman and jeweler (Dennis Creaser) were happy to help. Dennis found a beautiful stone of slightly lower karat value. The stone fit within the band I loved and within my budget. Perfect! They made and shipped the ring very promptly. I have since had the ring serviced twice by them - once for a resizing and once for general wear. Neither issue was their fault, and they gladly did the repair free of charge. In summary, Creaser Jewelers has beautiful pieces and ideal customer service. I highly recommend them!
