Don't be deceived by the outside: Artisans and Craftsman is essentially an ENORMOUS warehouse of…read moreevery art supply you could ever think of. My partner *loves* coming here because he usually finds exactly what he's looking for (... and a whole bunch of stuff he wasn't looking for, but it inspires him soOooOooo he has to get all of that too). For him, it's five stars. For me, the couple of times I've been to pick up/look for something... the employees have been so, so incredibly rude. Clearly, I don't give off an artsy vibe, and they know it. One particular time that haunts me: I asked about something specific and I used an alternative term for it (but still a correct term; I had to do a quick internet search after I left to see if I really had misspoken - I hadn't) and all four employees behind the counter just stared blankly at me. I repeated my question, explaining what I needed with context so they could visualize what I was talking about, and was met with "never heard of it", "that doesn't exist", "we don't carry anything like that". I eventually found what I was looking for on my own, and when I cashed out I was met with snickers and eyerolls. "Ohhhhhhh, you meant [other term]." I felt so ridiculed and awkward and unwelcome. For me, it's a one star.

They have a good selection of supplies. Love looking through the discontinued post cards. Bad…read morecustomer service, however. Waited a full minute before the female cashier with short auburn hair rang me up. Very stiff and refused to make eye contact, seemed bored and distracted, ringing me up for a smoke break. Next time I will purchase from Blick.

That's The Mix. A totally non-judgemental arts and crafts store that appreciates you trying to make art and do crafts in a world increasingly not built for beauty, but for zeros and ones. I found everything I was looking for and so much more here: really sparkly embroidery thread that I never knew existed, gold pens that write oh-so-smooth, and locally made glittery watercolor paint (no gatekeeping here, it's Antimadder Art if you want to look it up). Genuinely, my partner had been craving colors exactly like these! Loving their new space; it's a big, old building with loads of windows to flood every nook and cranny with natural light! Be sure to sign up for loyalty points! There are workshops and product demos now! And in the summer they have live music on their porch! Go. Get your supplies. Say hi to Leslie; she's the art teacher you're missing in your boring adult life. #heartemoji

Norway is the cutest town, and I am happy to have had ties to it for many years. My grandparents…read morehave lived in Norway for most of my life, and for the past six years, my mom has too. This shop is the perfect addition to Main St., selling both wine and knitting/sewing materials. Owner, Kim, is very sweet and creative. Main St. has beautiful knit pieces placed all around, adding a sweet feel to a historical little town. Cafe Nomad just down the street serves Fiber & Vine wines too. The store itself has a large, diverse selection of delicious wines and colorful yarns. There is also a large selection of buttons, and I find very unique ones that I use for my jewelry-making endeavors. During Norway's First Friday events, the shop often offers wine tastings, and they have a schedule of other events as well--such as "knit and sip" type stuff. Be sure to check their schedule or follow their social media for the most up-to-date info!

Kim has been a staple of downtown Norway for years now and once you step foot in Fiber & Vine, there is no way you won't fall in love. One of my favorite offerings of the store are the adorable felt kits. There are so many options for adorable little crafts-- my most recent purchase is a little felted fox (he will look adorable next to the giraffe in my daughters room.) Kim is so helpful too; if you ever have any questions or are looking for a recommendation (on crafts or wine ), she has got you covered. I've yet to visit on a first Friday for a wine tasting but that will be next on my list! Whether you have something specific in mind or are just looking for a reason to head downtown, Fiber & Vine has got you covered!

And the job was finished in a timely fashion, just as promised. We had considered replacing the chairs, but for less than half that expense we were able to keep the chairs we've enjoyed for almost fifty years. We highly recommend doing business with The Craft Shop in Windham, ME.

What a fun little discovery on my way into town. I have passed this place a zillion times and had…read moresaid I would stop eventually. Well, stop I did, to see if they had a gift for a friend's birthday. First, I love any store that smells like balsam as you walk through the door. The scent makes me feel like a kid again. I'm not from Maine (have been here long enough to feel at home), but as a kid we used to drive here from Ohio and spend a few weeks going up and down the coast. The smell of balsam reminds me of these trips. Second, I was shocked by the variety they had. Maple syrup, Maine souvenirs, crafting supplies, wooden figurines, and antiques. The have a sign stating that they "glue chairs". I didn't know that was a thing, but apparently, it is... They also sell wreaths and Christmas trees during the appropriate season. And finally, the owners were as nice as could be. They had out hot chocolate for the kids, and they wrapped my little gift up neatly. This little shop is well worth the drive into town because of how darn cute it is!
