It's a nice park to take the family for a picnic lots to do for the kids there's a nice playground with a castle in it. I didn't play frisbee golf but the course looked really nice. I was really impressed how well maintained the park is plus the restrooms are clean if your in the area it's worth stopping.

They have several playground sections that the kids were able to choose from. They checked out 4 of them and played for about 15 minutes on each. Biggest complaint is there are no bathrooms open during a nice day in March. They only had port o potties which are not ideal for children. I understand that they can't heat them all during the winter but you think one or them would be available under the office or the main park area especially with sports season starting.

Never terribly busy in the mornings when I come, but lots of friendly walkers and a nice way to unwind and spend time outdoors. There used to be tennis courts as well but I understand they removed them in favor of the playground which is too bad as there aren't any other courts within 10 minutes or so.

Grandview Park is a very cool place to hike - not only does it have some awesome Pittsburgh views…read morewith a beautiful, open, flat area featuring benches, picnic tables, porta-potties, trash cans, and even a working three-tier fountain for dogs and people alike, but it has a trail so forest-y that you will not believe how close it is to downtown. Grandview not only has the unique combination of city convenience and natural beauty, but the park hours are 6 AM to 11 PM which makes it a great spot for a first date. One thing to know is that while the main areas are accessible and enjoyable, the trail itself has certain parts where the branches, leaves, and vegetation grow very close to the path, so you may find yourself brushing through plants as you walk. One of the things on the path you may want to be careful about brushing up against are the several branches of what are called wineberry plants along the trail. They are beautiful and fun to spot, but be careful because the stems have thorns and they grow very close to the edges of the trail in some areas. Because the trail can get narrow in places, and it helps to be small and nimble because otherwise you will probably find yourself rubbing against these plants. There is also a hidden gem near the Grandview Park access road between Grandview Elementary and Emerald View Park where you can find two beautiful cypress trees. I have honestly never seen trees quite like these before. They look like what would happen if a regular tree had a soft and sweet little baby with a pine tree. They are unique, whimsical, and somehow both elegant and adorable at the same time. They are definitely worth taking a moment to appreciate when you are on this part of the trail. Another important thing to know is that there are some steep ledges on this trail which are no joke. You actually could get seriously hurt if you fell, so be mindful of where you are walking. Also, make sure you take this trail with someone you trust because, honestly, if someone wanted you to die, there are definitely places where they could make that happen on this trail.

My glasses flew off of my face and I thought I was going to fly off of the edge, but instead landed on the ground with a nice bruise on my shin as a souvenir. The plastic "kids slide" is like going down a thin lobster tail and is bumpy on the way down. Anyway. Would come back. The slides are still fun even when moving at a reasonable speed. The rock scramble stairs and the cargo net to get back up are also fun. Yes, I am an adult.

It turns out that it's 40 acres and has a playground, 3 softball/baseball fields (two of which are lighted), an all-purpose field (for soccer, lacrosse, or just playing with your dog as one older gentleman was doing), and bathrooms. Other than that there's not much to it. It is easy to miss when driving down Baptist Road. However it is very well kept and on this Sunday afternoon wasn't crowded at all. So if you just want that simple walk in the park without running into everyone and their uncle, you might want to take a ride over here. It doesn't beat Schenley or South Park in terms of amenities, but it's a beautiful, clean park in its own right, hence the 4 stars.
