If I could sum Craft up in one word, it would be this: unnecessary. From the lengthy beer list (containing only a handful of gems), to the massive space, and what feels like a hundred front-of-house staff, everything just feels... excessive. Also unnecessary? The skillet my brunch was inexplicably served in. Skillets make sense when you're going to fry things in them -- like a scramble or a hash. They do not make sense when you're just plopping a couple (soggy) taquito facsimiles in there and topping them with other decidedly un-fried ingredients. Like (bland) guacamole and (incredibly overcooked) poached eggs. All that skillet is doing is making my breakfast awkward to cut and burning my hand in the process. One thing to note for parents: they seem to be super accommodating of kids. There were four babies seated within ten feet of us, which is something I NEVER see in Vancouver. So if you're looking for a soulless brunch spot with 15,000 sq. ft. of stroller space, by all means, give it a try. read more

This was a place I will never go again. The food was below average. Two people ordered the fish tacos and could not eat them. The fish was almost raw. Our server never asked if there was an issue with their uneaten food. A group of 9 were served by a young guy that barely brought the food. Unless we caught his attention to get another drink...he did not check on the table. As we left, I found out that an 18% tip is automatically added to the bill for large groups... so I guess that's why he didn't need to provide service to out table. read more

Well, so this is my new neighbourhood joint. The first week or so it was open, wait times were over an hour and they weren't taking reservations, so I've been waiting with great anticipation for the honeymoon period to end so I could saunter over and see what all the fuss was about. I'm not a huge beer drinker, so I'm definitely not their target demographic, but since the only other restaurant/pub in the neighbourhood (Tap & Barrel) was a disappointment, I was hoping this could only be an improvement. And, to some degree, it is. My daughter and I went over for dinner, and I ordered a steak sandwich ($16) and she ordered a personal flatbread with prosciutto and arugula. The staff had brought samples of the Margherita pizza around to the waiting area while we were waiting for our table, and I guess she liked it enough to order it. At least, the server advised us that the burgers, which she was also mulling over, are enormous, and since she's not a big eater, she decided not to get one. The steak sandwich was... fine. The steak was nicely cooked (a little on the rare side, but better than overdone) but it wasn't really a sandwich. It was served with a piece of ciabatta bread with a spicy chipotle sauce on it, and a few pieces of "onion petals." The accompaniments were disappointing. My daughter's flatbread was tasty, though she felt there was too much sauce and the pizza was cut weird, so it was kind of hard to eat. Anyway, the overall ambiance was loud and bar-like. Clearly they want people to drink and eat appetizers, which is what I will do next time (except for the drinking part -- I'm a lightweight). The appetizers did look yummy, which is definitely an improvement over T&B, since a place that is basically a drinking establishment should have a good selection of small plates. One last thing, about the beer flights. They have 100+ taps, so a flight is a necessity on the menu. Most places offer this, a little taster tray of different beers. My boyfriend particularly likes this feature. Craft has a "bartender's selection" which rotates weekly, so you can't actually pick your beers, they pick them for you. I thought that was kind of strange and not very friendly, more geared toward the convenience of the staff than the delight of the patrons. Oh well. read more

After have lived in Calgary for many years and frequented the Craft Beer Market on 10th Ave I excited to learn that one was opening in Vancouver. My first 2 experiences at Craft Vancouver were unfortunately much less than what I was hoping for. If you are looking for a place to have a beer with a friend it's not a bad spot - character building and lots of craft beer on tap (wine on tap too). If you are looking for any sort of customer service / dining experience I wouldn't suggest it. My latest experience at Craft was with a large group. For groups over 10 people they require a set menu chosen prior to the event of shareable appetizers (pizza, wings etc..). For $18 a person + 20% gratuity the food quantity and quality was severely lacking. Each person received one, two if you were lucky small squares of flat bread, 3 chicken wings, one fish taco and one beef kabob. This issue was addressed to one of the managers who responded with "good luck finding restaurants in Vancouver that will give you a meal for $18". Nice, thanks. Also, addressing issues of 2 people who came late and didn't get to eat because there was so little food to begin with were still required to pay and 3 people not being able to attend last minute due to a family emergency and were not taken off total were handled very unprofessionally and accusatory and not in a manner where customer service was at all a priority. I completely understand that when you say you are bringing in a large group and only 5 people show this hinders the restaurant - but - when you fulfill your obligation and bring in 25 people when you booked for 28 I feel that's pretty terrible for the restaurant to penalize you and make you pay for the few individuals who were unable to attend / came late and didn't get to eat. Considering those 25 people that did show were purchasing beverages on top of the set menu price they were required to pay. If you are looking to plan an event for a group over 10 there are many great places in the city that allow separate bills, provide significantly more food and much better customer service. As someone who plans many corporate events Craft would not be on my list of venues for future events. read more

The place is very large and inviting. High ceiling, great atmosphere and over 122 choices of craft brew. Service is decent, and food is good pub food. It's located near false creek Olympic Village and the menu also has a decent selection. I would repeat for sure. read more

CRAFT - Poutine and chicken wings - Beer Bar Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

See all

This place is really nothing spectacular. The beers offered on tap are very generic and widely available everywhere. Also, quite overpriced for what it is. Quite gimmicky, but overall a nice establishment. The nachos were mediocre at best. Salsa was weak. Staff were very nice and attentive. I probably wouldn't come back but I'm glad I checked it out. I can see why this place does well, but it's just not for me. read more

Craft has done an amazing first impressions on me from the very start. Ordered a poutine that was absolutely stunning and left me craving for more. The Baja fish tacos left a distinct flavour and my girlfriend was impressed with the meal. The beer was the real winner overall. The strawberry beer was probably the most delicious beer I've had in a while. After finishing our plates, we were unexpectedly given a series of beer samples of other fruit beer that we considered. A very notch service and it gives me a good reason to comeback to this place endlessly. The only downside I had was the pricing but the quality made up for it. read more

blech is Vancouver totally incapable of opening small, character-driven, tv-free, quality-focused drinking establishments!?! oh ya, they're called tasting rooms. their only downfall is the lack of food, which is what brought us to Craft. but the food here was so sub-par it was, like, sub-sub-par (give me a break it's friday). not to mention jaw-droppingly over-priced (since when do nachos cost $18!?!?). and yes, there is an exteeeeeeeeeeensive beer menu. but do we really need that many choices?! i mean a few IPAs, 2 ales, a stout and/or porter and a cask would be great. keep the kegs fresh, the tvs extinct and maybe offer a few solid items of chow (see 33 acres who does this well). i guess this place serves it's purpose. there's a certain crowd here who just wants to meet after work, have some nachos and watch the game. kinda like at Earls...Rogue, Cactus Club, Joeys, Browns etc etc. see what i'm doing here? so while i welcome establishments that focus on beer, at Craft, it just seems like that's an after thought here. read more

We had to wait 24 minutes to get in, but having 100 taps helped to ease the pain. Being from SoCal, we have local access to the best brews from El Segundo, Smog, Monkish, and more. Dillon was behind the bar and on his game. Based on our conversation, he served up the Yellow Dog IPA and the Black Plaque Stout on Nitro. Best 2 beers of our visit so far. No time to eat as we were off to the next tap room. read more

The selection of beer is impressive, as they had many different stouts to choose from. The size of the glass they serve it in is very disappointing. The owners have never been to England. If they have, they would know a real pint is 568 ml. Craft's tiny glass is an insult to British everywhere. In England, it is illegal to serve beer in glass that is less than a full pint., it is too bad Canada does not have such a law. The nearby Big Rock Brewery does serve beer in pint glasses and is cheaper than Craft beer Market. read more

A place we regularly go but disappointed tonight as the "fresh" vegetables were cut about 2 days ago, the toast had freezer burn and even the beer seemed to not be fresh and it's Mirror Pond! The service was great! read more

I went there two nights ago and had a wonderful time! I'm not much of a beer drinker but was nevertheless excited to check out what they did with the old salt building. Went in, was suggested to try a beer that I LOVED it! Brownie points......Overall I was really impressed. Beautiful concept, big open space, really impressive bar (140 beers on tap!) and the overall atmosphere was great. Keeping in mind that they have just opened, I thought they did a great job. There was a wait, but this was to be expected. They are clearly working out some kinks, but it can only get better from here! Staff was super friendly and professional, and I had a great experience! I can't wait to go back, I really liked the concept of Craft Beer Market. Keep it up! read more

We came here for a birthday. I was very excited to come. Food tasted decent. We were told it would be $18 per person for "appys" 30x18=$540. We got 3 appy pizzas. 3 plates of wings and 3 plates of fish tacos. Value is horrible. Service was horrible and when we questioned to server she sent the manager over. The manager was very rude. Very unhelpful. It's unfortunate as I had never been here before and will never come back. I'm about 99% sure no one in the party will be coming back either. read more

The place was nice in terms of architecture and vibe but the management is obviously ripping you off. When I received the bill there was an 18% tip already included without any notice and the payment machine then asked to tip again! I asked for the tip to be lowered and the server said it was policy and she couldn't change it. I didn't want to have an argument but you are not obliged to tip anything at all and I find it outrageous they do business like this. read more

Craft Beer is in my neighborhood so a natural choice for getting the most beer choices in one spot. It's also a great place to go on your birthday as they give you your new age as a discount off your meal! So, the real story here is I ordered Wild Salmon and it came looking grrrrreat until I noticed a very weird thing....a business card shoved into my meal? Yes a brown printed card inserted under my salmon.I pull it out of course and find it's a "brag card", as i named it, touting how many meals Craft has contributed to the homeless. That's a ll very nice but ytou could tell me that via a tent card, a poster or attached to my bill...NOT IN MY FOOD!. The server offered to take it away but I hate to see it wasted like this. She said she never has heard of this and was going to find out why. On her return she says that it was intended, not a mistake and that the card is food safe. What does that mean? It was printed, it has ink, it was handled by a person from a box, blah, blah, blah. More importantly, shoving marketing into someones food is just plain weird! I didn't order a box of Cracker Jacks! The meal was quite good, Craft servers are good, the place is fun BUT, they gotta hire a new marketing person. read more

The food is good, but nothing extraordinary or special. This seems like a place I'd go to if I just wanted to grab a quick dinner at a restaurant with my family on a lazy day. The waits are very long, but it just opened so I give them that. I am not a huge fan of the prices. I think it is a bit overpriced for what it actually is. Not great, not bad. read more

This is my go-to brunch spot for one reason, the chicken and waffles. The chicken is perfectly spiced and tender, and the waffles with the maple syrup or house made hot sauce make a devine combination. Although my meal today was not at the quality I've come to expect from CRAFT, I still had a five star experience. The staff went above and beyond to rectify the problem, my meal was comped, and I was even given an array of complimentary beer tasters. Great food, great beer, and top notch customer service. I'll be coming back. read more

We had a rough encounter at this location. We came for my boyfriends birthday, but our timing was brutal as we were seated during a shift changeover. We weren't tended to right away, and since they didn't know who would be taking our section, we didn't get our drink order taken. Once we flagged someone down, the manager came by to personally apologize and covered our first round of drinks. When our food arrived, it was incorrect and the food we did receive had a hair in it. It was a comedy of errors but the manager came by again to acknowledge that it wasn't a great night for them, and she ultimately covered our entire meal and gave us a coupon for next time. Had the customer service element fallen short, this would be a very different review, but we were so impressed by how the situation was handled, we will gladly return. read more

Excellent selection of beer and fantastic service. My food was pretty decent. Very big portion sizes. I really like the location and the atmosphere and will probably go back- I can see it's a great place to take out of towners. The only downer is the long wait times and the fact you can't make a reservation. It's a bit of a dead zone with only one other pub nearby, so it's a bit hit and miss as to whether or not you get in. I think once the fad is over it'll be a decent local. read more

Went here last night for a birthday supper and we absolutely loved it; the atmosphere was nice and although there were tables everywhere there was actually walking space and it was Not too noisy. Let's start with the look and feel of the place, it has an amazing overall feel, pleasant music, very lively and aesthetically it looks amazing. Next is obviously the beer. The selection is quite amazing, with over 100 beers on tap it's pretty hard to not be able to find something that will catch your fancy. However, with that said, there aren't many that I haven't seen before. The food is where I mainly docked stars unfortunately. With that said I went for their "wings night". The wings were definitely pricey for being on special, and there weren't many choices in flavours. I got a pound of the hot and the Canadian maple (which is a blend of bacon and maple flavour). The hot was swell but the Canadian maple was a massive let down - each one was a little worse than the last and I couldn't finish. If anyone has had those bacon cheddar chips it kind of tastes like that but with a hint of maple. The texture was quite awful as well so that was definitely the downfall of Craft Beer. I hear the veggie burger is quite good and their burgers are and I quote "alright, but nothing special". Anyway, overall I'd say it's a great place to have a few beers but I'd eat elsewhere. read more

No quality in the food, and the service is horrible during busy times. We had a table of 8, and we were waiting 15 minutes with empty glasses EACH time looking for someone to take our order, and then another 15 minutes by the time we got our drink. When our bill came around, it was separated by seat numbers. NONE of the totals were correct! Everything was mixed up. I ordered 2 caesars and they charged me for 4. There were other items on my friends' bills that they didn't even order, (i.e. a gingerale, a large size glass of the priciest white wine on the drink list, when my friend only ordered a 6oz, a charge for a bottle of beer that was $9, when the one he ordered was only $7) . This place charges a liquor tax on your bill, which is why I suspect they try and take advantage of a group of friends having a good time by charging items that were not even ordered, thinking that they will get away with it! BEWARE and check your bill! We waited another 30 minutes for them to sort out our bill after we had to explain it to them numerous times (they reprinted the bill 3 times). We were so nice to them and patient, and they were not even apologetic to us at all! The server gave us attitude, and worst of all, the manager came by our table wondering why we hadn't paid the bill yet, gave us a look, and just walked away!! I am disgusted with this place. If you are going with a group of friends during peak time, be prepared to have slow, unorganized, and rude service. read more

The place is solid. It's my go to spot for lunch in the village. Usually stick to the burgers and fries.

This place is huuuuuge, it's effin cavernous. We had the charcuterie plate-I didn't like it. My standards are high but there wasn't enough of each kind of meat and cheese and the quality wasn't high enough, especially for the price. The jams and mustard (two types of fruit jam and one grainy mustard) were a nice touch but thats really not the actual FOOD part of a charcuterie plate. Less condiments, more good stuff is what's needed. We also got the prosciutto and arugula flatbread which was like a better version of the charcuterie plate, had all the best stuff on it, was hot, and made me feel like I was actually eating something. Obviously the beer is the main attraction at this establishment, and the around the world flight we had was great! Despite the restaurant practically being the size of a football field, our service was great, but we were sitting at the bar. I would recommend this restaurant to big groups and people who like to talk loudly, everyone else is talking loud too so you'll fit right in! read more

Its a great place to grab a snack and a beer. As the name says it's a market full of beer from local to all around the world. I'm not giving this place a 5 star only cause there wasn't much service and it was hard to find our server when we wanted to order. Not exactly sure why. I was here a few nights ago with a bunch of friends hoping to catch happy hour or something but end up being late for it. I asked for no patio when we arrived only because I was totally not dressed for the sun to be shinning at me the whole time I'm there. Therefore she seated us close to the patio on the high tables and chairs. Which I love because it's like we still got the feel of the outdoors but we were technically inside the restaurant. Good call on the seating. Don't get me wrong. I love the patio with i'm in tshirts and short but not when I'm in my business casual outfit and in black. We ordered our drinks first and let me tell you I love my Fruli beer. It tastes more like a strawberry cider than anything. Love it and totally recommend anyone who loves strawberry to have this. Food on the other hand we all shared nachos, wings, flat bread, poutine and tacos. Everything was really good. We tried all the different types of wings that they had. I have to say I was pretty pleased with all of them even the spicy one. I normally don't eat anything spicy but this one was actually tolerable and good. Overall, it's a really nice location and place to go grab a beer and some snacks. I see I lot of people going there after work and it's a nice place to socialize with friends. They have big and small tables which is awesome. read more

Not worth the waiting. Food is very overpriced, tasteless although the portion is quite big. Beer is also overpriced. Good ambienece though.

Amazing selection of Craft beers here for every kind of beer you could want with rotating specials and tasters. Really good layout and vibe, with really tall ceilings and a lot of space, tables ideal for groups up to 8-10 people. Would be very fun to rent out the space for a private function read more

The shittiest burger at a beer joint I've had in a long time. Firstly, the bun. Not soft nor squishy like a burger bun should be, tasted like stale pumpernickel. Swap that out for brioche ASAP management. The patty, 4oz of overcooked rubber. Cut my burger in half and only a sliver remained on one side between two massive bun halfs. The pickles were good, the two razor thin slices of them you put on it. The rest , blah. read more

Amazing beer! Below average food! I love the Craft beer scene in Vancouver. It just keeps getting better and better. This place is in an amazing building. What a great space for an event the capacity is huge. The beer selection is great and about average on the price front. As for the food, all 5 of us were very disappointed. The menu has a large selection of mouth watering sounding dishes but nothing that we ordered was worth the money we paid for it. The ciabatta roll my chicken burger came on was so dry it was most likely stale and all together the burger didn't really taste of much. The poutine side was below average. The butternut squash ravioli was $17 for a baby sized plate. Which is fine if the quality is great, but it wasn't. As for the grilled cheese sandwich which the menu said was served on a baguette but came on regular cheap looking white bread and tasted like your drunk buddy just made it for you. Please don't waste your money on the food here. Spend those dollars on the great beer! Service although a bit slow made up for everything. Our server was really friendly and helpful and apologized for the slow drinks at the bar. read more

Tonight was the night for Crafty Beira! Way to go - awesome food, fantastic service!! Craft you're back baby!

First off, this place is gorgeous! I'm crazy about the interior, the large beams, the history, the presentation of beers and food, the service... that was all top-notch (definitely 5 stars)... but the food... oh the food... The food is the reasoning for the two-star review. On our way to meet friends at Craft, I looked up it's rating on Yelp and was surprised to see the 3.5 rating. A person would think that such a stunning building in a great location with so many awesome beer options and great service would, at the very least, have decent food (especially in Vancouver). It was bad. Like - I don't even want to eat food there again - bad. We started with the nachos which were deceiving in size... they come out on a HUGE platter, but once it comes to your table you're immediately disappointed by the quantity. They tasted mediocre at best. I ordered the fish tacos, and was happy to know they had corn tortillas as an option instead of the flour torts. They were terrible. Besides the fish being JUST cooked enough (my husband and friend suggested I return them, but I didn't want to be "that" person), they were soooooo boring and lacked so much in flavor and love that I was immediately disappointed. They came with a barely cooked through tiny piece of fish, a cabbage slaw that literally consisted of only cabbage (no herbs or carrots or green onions or anything of color or flavor), and a pathetic spoonful of pico that was it's only moisture. Really terrible. Our friends had the blue cheese and bacon burger that was "ok" and the lettuce wraps that were also sub-standard. Love the atmosphere, but the food is, overall, terrible. Sorry, Craft. read more

The beer was fine... and it should be, considering they don't make it. Service was great, and friendly. Atmosphere was as it normally is... giant space filled with too many people. Ordered the Baja fish tacos. Honestly haven't had fish tacos more $#!^^& than that anywhere. One tiny piece of fish, no more than an inch long on EACH of four tacos. Taqueria, El Caminos, Narrow Lounge, all have better fish tacos. I've been in the restaurant industry (owned a couple), and if I served someone an entree with 3 tiny bites of fish like that, I'd have it tossed back in my face. I should have taken a picture. Needless to say, no-one in my group plans on going back. Had better luck at Tap & Barrel, or Steel Toad, both nearby. read more

So they sell beer here. Unfortunately the Craft Beer Market management has followed the latest stupid trend in the Vancouver restaurant business. More on this shortly. The food was good. Maybe even better than good. Our server was friendly, courteous, engaging and a total professional. One of our Party ordered a steak, rare. It came to the table cold. Our server took it back, replaced it, AND IT WAS PERFECT. But the MUSIC? Totally not matching the venue, or the crowd. So loud we couldn't carry on a conversation around the table. You couldn't hear someone from three feet away. We asked our very courteous and very professional server if the music could be turned down. Oh, did I mention we were here to celebrate someone's birthday? Our poor server apologized profusely, and said, "We all hate how loud the music is. I can never hear what my customers are saying. It's terrible for customer service. But my Manager said, if you can hear the customers, the music is not loud enough. Turn it up". Absolute true story. So, rather than ordering more drinks and desert, we're getting our bill and going somewhere else. Good marketing strategy. Whoever runs this beer joint should be fired. The idea that you can't carry on a conversation in a glorified pub is the very heights of stupidity. And the choice of music? Utter shite. read more

A few weeks ago, my husband's company had a corporate dinner at Craft. There was a mix up about the set menu but once they realized what had been planned on phone/email never made it to the kitchen/servers, a new order was set in and appies were on their way to the whole group. We had food but not plates, so we ate off our napkins. We asked for some plates, got them. Needed napkins so we could replace our plate-napkins (eating finger foods). Otherwise, service was good/nice people and the food and drinks were great. We went back one week ago, for a friends birthday party. Her husband was told they don't do reservations but if we came at 5:30 it would be fine. On the day of he was told 5pm would be better so the notice went out the group to arrive at 5. J & I arrived around 6 (off work). We were saying hello to our friends and asked our server if she could take our drink order. We were standing and taking off our coats; she roller her eyes upward, tightened her face and said "sure, but all this mingling is making it pretty complicated, where do you want your drinks, where will you sitting?". I pointed to the empty seats at the end of the table and said we'd sit over there. We had two tables of friends in rows, for a total of 14 people. Adults in their 30s and 40s ordering drinks and appies. Not a simple two seater with beers, but we were not a difficult group to serve. She was agitated to a degree that was not appropriate for customer service. Being a venue open to large groups, able to offer a welcoming setting with two nice big tables of seven, is unique and something Craft will surely benefit from. Servers need to be ok with that. We got a moody one, her name was Amanda Beu. and she did not like serving a large group of nice people. __ read more

Love the beer selection. Prices are ridiculous for food, though. $19 barrel of nachos... We ordered it because we saw it a few tables down. Looked like a 2+ inch deep barrel. Crazy, right!? We were so stoked. At $19... a little pricey for sure but hey, you get a whole barrel, and there were a few of us. Well they put a plate on top of the barrel. It's just a wide plate of nachos. Totally misleading. Paid $3 for 3 shreds of chicken in addition... Not nearly enough cheese. We asked our server if the $3 guacamole was worth it (if there was much of it) and she flat out told us "not really." Appreciate her honesty, though. All the service was great. I dunno... just leaves a sour taste in your mouth when you feel you've been ripped off. Fish tacos also came with barely any fish. A lot of skimping here... Mediterranean plate: Fantastic. Love the hummus. That plate is worth its price. read more
