I was surprised for my birthday with a session! The process is pretty straightforward - fill out a standard waiver, decide on the length of your session, pay and proceed to an indicated area*. We were given a safety briefing, and a demonstration of technique - quite necessary for us. It was tough to get the technique down till we could get them to stick consistently (mastery is beyond us), however, they gave us a lighter ax, then several different models of projectiles, the easiest being what I'd describe as similar to the throwing 'stars' you see in old karate movies. We were given suggestions for games to play, which increased our enjoyment. It can be a workout, but we had way more fun than we would have predicted. * (I assume there may be leagues or times at which there may be a wait, so perhaps of the above on-line). I had so much fun when I went for a friends birthday! The music was good as well as the food and drink. It is such a chill and cool vibe. I will say that it is located in the heart of downtown, so the parking is not good, but once you figure that part out it's all good. They have plenty of lanes and they are open to hosting birthday parties, team building nights for groups, and they also host corporate events. As far as the food, their menu is limited, but they do have options for vegan/vegetarians. Other than that, you can get burgers, nachos, hotdog, etc. They also have soft drinks and alcoholic beverages available. Be sure to add this to you list of things to do! I had a great time here. Glad someone suggested this place. The parking lot is small so parking will be an issue if it is busy. This place has plenty of throwing lanes and you can pay extra to upgrade the item you throw. I think they offer throwing knives, ninja stars, and throwing cards. I am sure there is a fourth option but I cannot remember. Marcus is the owner of the establishment and he is a great guy. You can buy some food here like hot dogs, nachos, and tacos. I was able to visit Craft Axe recently. Although I had previously participated in axe throwing, this was my first time doing it within the city of Memphis. Let me just say - this was by far my most favorite experience so far! I loved the fact that they had a DJ on site. For that reason - the vibe was even better that night. The owner of Craft Axe was nice and took the time to thoroughly explain techniques and safety. This axe throwing facility had caged lanes, which made you even more secure. The scoring system is manual here, but still fun! There were other games scattered throughout the facility such as connect four, cornhole and Jenga. Beer was served at the counters and I was able to order chicken tacos. We enjoyed a nice evening of axe throwing, picture taking, laughter and even a little dancing!. I was so amazed at how easy it is once you take the first throw. I love that it's spacious enough to not feel cramped but still intimate enough for groups to hype one another up on the next lane. Came here on a Friday night and practically had the place to ourselves. There was one other couple there when we arrived. My husband and I met some friends for a little double date night fun. We had a really good time. Brandon was awesome and made sure to go over the rules/safety thoroughly. He gave us some good tips and the four of us were all able to hit the bullseye at least once lol. There's more to do like corn hole, chess, connect four, etc. We did get to play a little Jenga before they closed for the night. They also have food and drinks. Cool little spot. No experience needed for throwing and Marcus is happy to give a free tutorial before turning you loose to throw! Dope spot for date night, game night or family night...or days! It's tucked off in the edge of downtown Memphis between Jefferson and Monroe with bare minimum parking. We ordered Groupon reservations online, saved about $4. Surprisingly, we were the only customers during our 1-hour reservations so we had the whole place to ourselves. The employee was nice and accommodating; showed us the ropes and even changed the music upon my request. They serve beer and not alcohol....I guess that's fitting. Cool place to bring the kiddos. My son and I had a lot of fun here on a Friday afternoon. We were the only ones there. I think this place was relatively new on the day that we went. It was our first time axe throwing anywhere. The instructor was professional and pleasant. She gave us some helpful tips and in no time we were hitting the targets. The place was very clean and brightly lit. The place was a little hard to find. Really fun place, Staff was super sweet and friendly. Brandon showed us to our lanes, showed us all how to throw the axes, asked us what music we wanted to hear, and even kindly did a little dance for us (thanks brandon) They have scoreboards if you want to take score while you are throwing axes. As you can imagine it is pretty loud inside but it wasn't too loud where you couldn't have a conversation. They also sell beer if you are up for throwing axes with a slight hint of intoxication. The place was also very well lit and you could even upgrade your axes to throwing stars and such. They had side games like giant connect four, giant Jenga, and chest. Even a projector that was playing what I think was the recent basketball game. They had plenty of seating and even sold local art work and honestly had some great pieces. Had a lot of photo opportunities. I personally wasn't good at throwing the axes but it was still a great experience for just $21. Went here for a Yelp event. I wasn't even aware this place was downtown. We had a large group, but was able to park in the parking lot with a few spots to spare for others. There was a space for a DJ, who played music while we threw axes with a slight turn up time at the end. Don't worry about being hungry while you're there, they do have food and beverages for purchase. I had the barbecue nachos. They were pretty good. Others at my table had the impossible burger and chicken tacos. We were shown how to throw and left to our own devices.
