One of the best day care facilities in the Bergen county area and an even better place to be employed. Facilities are clean and up to date. The owner takes great pride in business and it shows everywhere! Children are cared for in the most loving and professional manner. The cradles family is definitely one to be a part of! If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Initially when my kids went here we thought it was a great place. Slowly we started realizing things were wrong. 1. Anytime either of our children hit their head, instead of reporting it yo us right away, they always told us it happened right before we were walking in. 2. We had to rush our daughter to the ER after pick up, for an incident we were never made aware of. 3. Very inexperienced young teachers with little supervision. 4. Laura is money hungry & packs the place with children breaking DYFUS GUIDELINES. 5. My children were both bitten many times. They did nothing about it. 6. The were written up for 19 violations by the state. Ask around, this place is well known for biting. 7. My daughter, 3 years later just told me that they made her sit in a stairwell with the door closed as a punishment for scribbling. She was 3. Both my kids were traumatized by this place. Words truly cannot describe how thrilled my husband and I have been with Cradles to Crayons. After an upsetting first experience with another local daycare, we quickly decided we could not send our son back and were on the hunt for a new daycare that we felt comfortable with in a very short amount of time. We were absolutely blessed that Laura had the space to accommodate us. After speaking with Laura on the phone just once to explain our situation, my husband called me and said "I think this is the place. Laura is so warm and helpful and I got a really good vibe from her." Boy, was he right. We send our 14-month old to school every day with full confidence that he will be loved, challenged, and exposed to kindness and consistency. The teachers, even those who don't work in his classroom, greet us with warm, welcoming hellos every single morning. His teachers Miss Lori, Miss Tarah, Miss Sandra, Miss Eileen, and Miss Alyssa are compassionate, fun, and knowledgeable about the complexities of a child's world. They are clearly passionate about what they do and we leave our son every morning knowing that he is in the absolute best hands we could ask for. We've watching him learn new skills, make friends, and come out of his shell in a way we could have never predicted! We receive pictures and updates throughout the day to keep us in the loop about what our son is doing, and the teachers communicate with us frequently without being overwhelming. Leaving your child every day can be so difficult, and words can't describe the relief that comes with knowing you are leaving your child in incredibly capable, kind, loving hands every day. My husband and I are relocating to Boston, which means that our son will unfortunately be leaving Cradles to Crayons in a month or so. While we are excited for our new adventure, we are so sad to be leaving this incredibly special place. If you are looking for a place that will love your child deeply, teach them in developmentally appropriate ways, and ease some of the stress of being a working parent, look no farther. We could not recommend Cradles to Crayons with more enthusiasm. Your child will be loved and cared for as their own, and you will leave each day with a smile on your face. read more

We have been sending our kids to cradles to crayons for about six years now, and could not be happier with the results. My oldest child, now in first grade, started when he was about six months old, and my almost four year old has been there since about the same. My oldest loved his experience there and my youngest is currently enjoying it as well, not only because the staff was(is) wonderful, but because of the nurturing environment they provide. All children grow and develop at different times, things my oldest did at a certain age, my youngest did not, and the younger was doing things before the older was as well. Everyone who worked with my children help to make sure no one feels left out, and has really worked hard to bring out the best in all of the kids. read more

Went on a tour recently and I did not like this place at all. There are two locations this review is for the house setting. When you first enter the location you are smack in the middle of a "classroom". The room setup looks dingy and old. We then toured quickly the baby room which was okay. Incredibly small kitchen.we then went to the basement to see the pre 3 room which is where my son would attend. The stairwell is dark and clearly unsafe. The classroom was set up okay but very cluttered not enough light. Then we quickly went to the pre 4 room which seemed the opposite very sterile. All the teachers seemed dreary and withdrawn. My mother who is a retired therapist couldn't understand mindfulness in kids less than 4 years of age. So we left, the director who seems very distracted and spoke extremely fast left us feeling very vague about this place. I had high expectations but the lack of professionalism was prominent. There was no office and the director was dressed in a T-shirt and looked frazzled. She seemed awfully young and not very knowledgeable. read more

One of the hardest things I ever had to probably the hardest thing was having to decide where to send my boys at 1 year and 3 years old for childcare. I had to go back to work full time do to a medical condition that made my husband have to stop working immediately. This was at the same time my mom just unexpectedly passed Hard time in my life but as a mom My 2 sons are the WORLD to me. So I really did my research to find the best place for my babies. I visited I spoke to many places on phone. Right away there was something about Laura. She spent over an hour on the phone with me. Answering all my questions and concerns in detail. No other facility manager spent that time with me. And at the visits. Same thing. Laura really explained everything in detail. Other facilities did the quick tour and the shirt answers and hand outs ant that was it. We felt immediate warmth from Laura and her facility. So at 1&3 my boys started full time at cradles. Best decision I ever made!! The care, the schooling. Unbelievable!! Right up there with places like kinder-care and Other facilities that are very very expensive. And j also felt very comfortable about how things were handled when it came to things like biting. Other bumps and scrapes from kids being kids . Laura always called abs let me know right away if something happened. I felt extremely comfortable and confident of the care they received each and every day from all the employees. And Laura would not tolerate inexperienced or lax employees. She cares so much about her business and the kids she would only want the best in caretakers. The employees went above and beyond in my 5 years of sending my boys, the boys both learned more than I could ever imagine. And not just that. The social skills and learned and experienced great compassion thanks to Laura and her staff. And as my boys are now in grade 1&3 I can see the difference with kids that did not have this great care like we received at cradles. My kids are both very smart and have the best social skills. I get compliments all the time about all these characteristics that of course I have a little to do with but by sending my children to Laura she had so much to do in molding these two boys into what they are now and what awesome men they'll become. I thank you Laura and all the girls at cradles for being such a huge part in planting all the right seeds to create that foundation my little boys have to start their life path. I have been a "cradles" mom since 2012. My 3&5 yr old have been excited about school since day 1. I am surprised at the negative reviews on this website. We feel that our kids have excelled and excited about my daughter entering kindergarten in Sept 2016. She is more than well prepared. Mrs Laura loves these kids like her own and the teachers have been a positive influence of our kids lives...i am proud to be apart of the cradles to crayons family!! read more

My daughter spent the last two summers at Cradles. The genuine joy that Ms Laura shows at the sight of "her" children could not be more apparent. Every day they did a meditation. Weekly yoga. . And learning made fun. My daughter actually wanted to go every day! They visited nursing homes, took trips to local eateries and even took train rides into Westwood. I always felt confident that she was in good hands when I left her there. She will be attending every summer as long as they will have her! read more

Five stars? It should be more like 100 stars!! This was by far the greatest daycare facility in the world. I have two children who graduated from Cradles and I still say it was the greatest experience for my children. Attending the facility for almost 10 years, I honestly cannot say one negative thing about the director Laura or her staff. I have nothing but positive and wonderful things to say. My first child who is now in 4th grade has learned the true meaning of kindness,how to care for others and has the utmost respect for all adults and children her own age. She loves school and I thank Laura and the teachers for that!!!. In addition, my kindergartener, is doing amazing in school academically. Reading and writing are so much fun for her because Cradles taught her how to have fun while still learning. Socially, she has many friends because she learned the meaning of how to care for other classmates, how to share and most of all how to be kind all around! Again, I thank Laura and all the teachers for that. Furthermore, Laura took the time to help my daughter ( who is a left handed writer)learn how to write properly by holding the pencil correctly right from the start. As a director who is very busy, I am truly grateful that she took the time to help my daughter succeed in a small task that could cause her many problems in the future if not shown the correct way early on. On a personal note, Cradles became more like a family than just a business. Trying to balance a crazy schedule with two children and both of us parents working full time, Laura was always accommodating if I ever needed it in any way. She knew I wasn't one to ask for help so when I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease last year and became very ill, she was right there to help me every step of the way without hesitation. Knowing my daughters were upset seeing me so ill, Laura and the teachers gave them extra comfort everyday and made school extra fun for them. Again, for that, I am truly grateful!!! As a parent, it was never easy leaving your children and heading off to work everyday. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have tears in my eyes saying goodbye every morning. But, as I was going to give that last wave through the window, my girls were already filled with smiles and off playing with their friends before I made it down the stairs to leave. I always felt instant joy seeing my girls so happy. Pickup was always an adventure because they loved it so much they always asked if they could stay" just a little longer" and play with their friends. Laura was ALWAYS around to supervise and every teacher was trained very well and knew how to handle every situation that came their way. As far as cleanliness, there was never a time I didn't walk in there ( all different times of day in 10 years) that it didn't smell clean and sanitized. I have recommended Cradles to Crayons to many people in the past and I will continue to recommend this daycare years to come. As much as I enjoy seeing my children grow up and experience new things, I will never forget our fondest memories we had and will forever cherish all of them forever. Laura and all the teachers have built a positive foundation for my girls. I can' t thank them all enough for everything that they did!!! We miss them all so much! read more
