Well ... that was a TOTAL SURPRISE!!! SHOCKINGLY GOOD with a SUPERB EXPERIENCE!! We make this annual stop because it's the only breakfast location that is open as we start our drive back to New Jersey but always it's been ugh Cracker Barrel knowing we wouldn't be very happy. But this year was different... walked in and the warm classic store delivered that "back home" we've been here before feeling. The hostess led our group to a round table surrounded by old photos and antiques on the wall. The menu offered an array of choices and our group made a diverse selection of breakfast items Coffee delivered promptly... Carolyn was a great waitress! And, then for the surprise... THE FOOD was actually delicious and more than plentiful. I heard the comment from across the table "this is real French Toast!" And, he was smiling over his breakfast. The classic Cracker Barrel breakfast another member chose had "so much food" and when asked how his breakfast was he nodded affirmatively. My blueberry pancakes were such perfect griddle cakes with crisp edges might be amongst the very best pancakes ever. The sausage was flavorful and just right. One of the group asked for fruit and we were all jealous because it was picture perfect fresh sweet fruit! The only complaint ... where was the peg game?? But we were busy enjoying breakfast to really notice. Debbie, the cashier, just made us feel happy as we headed back to continue our 10 hour drive. I will be less critical the next time Cracker Barrel comes up in conversation... this was a near perfect breakfast. read more

I've been going to Cracker Barrel's most of my life. They have apparently removed my favorite meal from the menu...my beloved hamburger steak with garlic and sautéed onions. I was seated quickly but the waitress, bless her heart, she was about as slow as molasses. I ordered the southern fried chicken with steak fries and corn. You know how something fried in grease gets when it's been sitting a while...kinda thick but not crispy with that hard not flaky texture...yeah that was not fresh fried chicken. The fries also had that deep grease look to them like they'd been sitting as well. Food was bland and felt stale. To top it off I'm standing patiently in line to pay and this fella in front of me is just having a time. Once he's done the cashier starts chatting with a server. Looks at me 3 times while chatting and keeps on making me wait. Pretty poorly done Cracker Barrel. I actually anticipated a much more kindly and southern experience here in Middlesboro Kentucky but I tell you what...our Orlando one on Semoran has them beat hands down. I sure hope my hamburger steak is still on that menu! read more

After posting a not so pleasant experience about 7 months ago, I must say things have changed a little, for the good. Service is a lot better and faster. Food quality has improved a great deal. Some portions are still a little small, but the last couple of visits have been very impressive. Prices seem to have increased some, but that seems to be everywhere read more

Cracker Barrel used to be one of my favorite places but in the last year the food quality and service has really went down. I ordered Mommas Breakfast. It came with 3 pancakes, 2 eggs, and sausage. Server also asked if I wanted the hash browns or fried apples with my meal. He suggested the hash browns and I said that's fine. We asked for biscuits and they came out fresh and hot. If you don't ask they won't automatically bring them. Our food came and my wife was missing her gravy for her chicken fried chicken. I was missing the hash browns. When he brought to us he said he added my hash browns to my wife's meal so it would only cost $1.50 and not the full $3.49 for an extra side. What? I thought it was included with my meal. I didn't ask for an extra side. He's the one that asked which one I wanted. No big deal. back to the food. The pancakes were pretty good. The eggs were cooked the way I like. The hash browns was just mush. The sausage was so overcooked that it was like beef jerky. Not edible. My wife enjoyed her meal and I did eat a piece of her chicken and it was really good. read more

I first off there was a dead frozen mouse right on the sidewalk . Went inside was greater at the door very nice . Was seated right away.Looked to be busy . But still enough tables to seat us right away. The host that sat us really didn't seem to happy . But the main problem was after being seated no waitress for drinks silverware as plenty pass us by not even a ( Be right with you ) some common courtesy. We sat there 11 minutes and walked out . Not happy . They only got the star because they won't post unless you give a star. read more

Moved here over 2 years and this is by far one of our favorite restaurants! The food is always delicious , the prices are always reasonable and the store is 100 % amazing with so many cool different items to purchase - they also have the greatest greeting cards as well as many other different kinds of items that are hard to find and hard to get ! I also need to add that Angela that works in the store is a class act and one of the kindest , sweetest women I have ever met - she is a sweetheart and my husband and I always look forward to interacting with her ! I highly recommend this amazing establishment- delicious meals , reasonably priced , and if you get a chance look in the store as you will find great items and meet the sweetest people that work there especially Angela ! read more

From the peach mimosa which tasted like peach syrup, to the lack of flavor pot roasted....this was the worst meal I have ever had at a Cracker Barrel!!! Our serve didn't bring silverware and napkins until he brought us our cold food! At first I ranked it up to them being busy, but when you have to ask for silverware and napkins twice after our food had been slammed on our table; I decided it was related to the lack of leadership and work ethics. I over heard the manager talking to a table that had similar issues. The manager's reaction was to tell the customer that you get what you pay for. read more

I've ate there once and it is the worst Cracker Barrel around the nation we've ate at. We had slowed down eating at Cracker Barrel thinking overall they were going downhill. I ate in another location and great, actually ate there weekly. My wife wanted to try this one again and I reluctantly agreed. It was consistent as I last remember. Biscuits and cornbread ice cold. Fried food with gravy no knife or waitress until 20 min later all cold. Even the to go box to take uneaten entree home took 15 minutes. Still tipped generously as everyone can have a bad day, but won't be back. We will be driving out of the way to go to a Cracker Barrel. read more

This was my worst experience that I've ever had at a Cracker Barrel. After we ordered, it took a long time for the food to come out even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. Our waitress was terrible and we had to keep asking her for things because she kept forgetting (parts of our order, refill on drinks, knives). The food was sub par at this location: Meatloaf was dry with strange green things that made it unappealing, chicken and dumplings was watery and flavorless. We eat here on our way to the lake quite often. Usually, I would give this restaurant five stars. However, today our service was horrible. The server brought out the wrong meal for our younger son, forgot my side dish, and our drinks were never filled. When my younger son's food came out the second time, he still didn't get everything he wanted. If I was giving out stars for service, I would give one star. The food was delicious as always. Unless you are from the south or have been traveling in the south you will not understand why they make the horrible food they make. Had the green beans as a side dish. Imagine cooking green beans from a can for an hour. That's what they served me on a too small plate with my thin dried out chicken breast and bbq sauce not reflective of the proud tradition of southern bbq. As others have pointed out: ur in the south. Fast food rules, and this place might have table service but the food is just as trashy as all the fast food places lining the main drag. read more

When we can't find something we all agree on to eat at, Cracker Barrel is usually a good choice. We were visiting from out of town and decided to head here for lunch since options were limited. We were seated quickly and all the staff we came into contact with were friendly. The food was good and was typical of a Cracker Barrel restaurant. Everything came out as we had requested in a timely manner. The restaurant was not very busy while we were there so that might explain why we had a better experience than other reviewers. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait for a table. We ended up waiting for 45 minutes. When we finally got to our table we had to wait a very long time for our food and we had a hungry child along. definitely not the best service in town. Charged us over $7.00 for a stinkin little kids pancake with a sausage patty and tried to charge us another $3.19 for two little extra patties. Cashier was very nice about it but manager that showed up was nasty and very grumpily took the $3.19 off. Still cheatin the good money out of people by charging $7.58 for a kids pancake. This place is like any other breakfast place on the outside. But when you eat here you really feel that southern hospitality you can't get anywhere else. The nicest workers ever! I remember I had taken a bite out of my grits and I just don't like grits. My waitress just heard me ask my friend if he wants my grits and she came over and told me I could get something else and I ended up getting the fried apples. This is only one of the many instances I have had! I love the people and the food is good too! The hasbrown casserole is really tasty. And ask for biscuits with apple butter! It's free! I'm generally a fan of OCB, but not this one. We were passing through and went for lunch. I got the luncheon salad and soup. No problems or issues with that. Wife got a blt with fries. Worse fries anywhere. Complained that they were cold and tasted old. You would think they would try and correct that. Nope, replacements were colder. Would think the waitress would ask, especially when you don't eat them. Nope. Probably just a fluke but we were not happy with this OCB experience. read more
