Food and menu were awesome. Love spending time in the store. Service was great. The building and decor were so much fun.

Despite all the negative comments about the owners, I visited twice. I'm glad I did. The owners were friendly and helpful. Perhaps these are new owners? This is a well stocked little store that seems to be focused on anglers and others who visit Sauvie Island. It's a great place to get a parking pass, stock up on cold beverages, grab some food, or get some conventional fishing tackle. Recommended. read more

This place is so unbelievably disgusting, and the owners are surly jerks. People who plan to visit Reeder Beach are required to purchase a parking pass. While waiting in line at the very crowded Cracker Barrel Market near the bridge, I observed that more than half the people inside were not wearing masks. Really? The mandate is not new. When it was my turn, I asked the clerk if they just didn't care about the mandate. He responded, quote, "No, we don't care." I told him that was totally gross, he was endangering everyone in the place, and he was breaking the law. If Sauvie Island policy is going to REQUIRE people to go into that store to buy a parking pass, but will not adhere to a state law regarding a global pandemic, they are *literally endangering people's lives*. Please be careful purchasing things at Cracker Barrel market. They see tons of business and are not enforcing the mandate. * The Island Cove Market is closer to the beach and you also might be able to buy parking passes there. (I don't know for sure; I never have personally.) I don't know what the mask situation is like there, but I assume most people buy their passes and sundries at the bridge, because it's right there when you cross over to the island. This store has what you need, at a decent price. You're not going to get Walmart prices, you're paying an extra buck for convenience. They sell a variety of things, and if you're not too picky, it's a good place. I'm grateful there's a little local business so close to where we are headed. I've bought snacks, drinks, fishing supplies and batteries from this shop. We stop by every single time we go to Sauvie Island, and it's also our meet up location for when we invite friends. There's a big parking lot on the side, and room for everyone. If you like a nicer and cleaner store, and want to pay even more, you can go to the Island Cove. We have also purchased items there, but they aren't open before the season starts and they don't sell fishing supplies. read more

Went in yesterday to get a parking permit. There was a long line of people, most without masks on and no social distancing happening. The owners/sales staff behind the counter did not have masks or gloves and no hand sanitizer in sight. Terrible situation and irresponsible management in this time of Covid. But where else could we get a permit? read more

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE. They rip you off and intentionally give people the wrong parking passes. Then have "all sales final" policy bc they want to rip you off! I bought a $30 pass and they gave me a $10 pass, when I showed them the lady just started yelling at me and I couldn't understand her. Because she can't read english everyone who buys a pass is supposed to make sure they are getting what they payed for!? What kind of terrible business practice is that?! Go to the Reeder beach store instead. They are nice, kind, and humble people. And when you ask for a year pass you get one! Amazing!! read more

Fishing tackle? Check. Tasty Beverages? Check. Deep fried 'X' ? Check! This lil' barrel o' heaven offers the nearly perfect tri-fecta to ensure your visit to Sauvie Island is a pleasant and thirst-free one. It is virtually the only game on this entire sub-continent of an island, but for one or two tiny shops closer to Reeder beach, which are only open seasonally. The same lovely Korean couple has owned this store since '86. They are incredibly sweet and accommodating. If you share any of even the most trivial knowledge about Korean food, culture, or language, you might just be rewarded! The lady makes her own Kim-chee, among other delicacies, and is delighted to share w/her customers. I've been coming to Sauvie Island since childhood, be it for swimming, fishing, hunting, pickin' fruit/berries/pumpkins, running, biking, what have you. It is almost inconceivable to imagine a trip out without a stop in @ the Cracker Barrel, nestled just beyond the bridge. The only two gripes are the hours (they always close at/before sundown, year-round) and no gasoline available. If I remember correctly, this little store used to have a pump out front, WAY back when. So you have to go to Linnton for petrol or after-hours anything. Someday inevitably they will have to sell/retire..... anyone want to go in halves with me, on a fabulous business venture??? ;p read more

DO NOT STOP HERE! There are other "much friendlier" stores on the island to get your parking pass. This place is a scam! I stopped in on 08/03/2021to buy a parking pass for the beach. I also bought a 5hr energy. The Asian guy (maybe owner) seemed like he owned the place. Not very friendly. He put my parking pass on one side of the counter and my 5 hour and my receipt to sign on the other side of the counter. I thought that was odd because I was like......oh I have to move over here now to your tied up pen to sign my receipt? So I signed, grabbed my 5hr and left. I pulled out of the parking lot and immediately turned back because I realized I forgot to pick up my parking pass. There was nobody in the store when I bought my pass and 5hr. I went back in expecting he would be a decent human and lol hand me my parking pass because I was a dumbass for leaving it. He didn't. When I walked in he was looking out the windows looking at the parking lot and didn't even acknowledge me. I was like....... hey, I forgot to grab what I came in for! lol I forgot my parking pass on the counter. lol. (being super friendly) because I was going to the beach and in a good mood. He stopped looking out the window and looked at me and spoke in a different language that I didn't understand and sounded very rude. I was like.....WHAT? He said I don't know! I said.....you don't know what? He again said something in a language I didn't understand. I said....I was in here 1 minute ago to get a parking pass and I forgot it on the counter. He again said something in a different language and again..... I was like...........what!??? Then apparently he could speak English because he said.......you pay again! I said, I'm not paying again! I was in here 1 minute ago and here is my receipt. Mumbled something in a different language and said.............You pay again! I will never go back to this place and they should actually be investigated after all the reviews I have read about them. I'll be contacting the BBB read more

Such nice people and they are honest/genuine! I accidentally paid with a larger bill and the lady quickly corrected me and gave me back my correct change. They were also really great with little boy and made him laugh. It is not a Starbucks or corporate owned property which gives it a unique nostalgia feeling. They have been there for decades and are always nice and hard working. I stop by every time I go to the island and will continue to do so! read more

The best thing about this place was the store. Odds and ends to buy with nostalgia galore. Food: I had chicken fried steak with cheese hashbrown casserole. Comes with two small biscuits, grits and eggs. Chicken fried steak was ok. Nothing special. Small, low flavour and greasy. White gravy was smokey tasting. I ordered poached eggs- received hard poached (like hard boiled). Grits were made with water. Needed to add sugar and butter +salt to get them tasting better. Biscuits were meh. Child ordered pancakes. The tastes as if the oil they cooked on was old. Left a very oily taste in your mouth. She ate one. Sausage was smokey tasting and eggs (scrambled) needed salt and pepper. Service: the worst service I've had in a long time. Rarely came by. We needed jam and had to try to catch someone's eye just to ask. Only refilled our drinks at the end of the meal- even though she filled the table up on either side of us. Waitress was surprised when food showed up at our table "oh, you got that already" Best thing we ate: coke a cola cake. Thankfully that was good. read more

Um... This is one of the few places to get your sauvie's island parking pass. So it's got that going for it. The group of 20-somethings outside were really annoying. loud, vulgar, and seemed to be en masse on this particular sunday. I had already been down the road, and had to turn back when I realized I needed the pass. I was confused where to go so asked the woman at the counter. She was chinese (I think) and seemed to keep yelling things at me that were incorrect (that much I knew) and then continued to be in her native language. Thanks for the help! I'm sure no one ever asks you directions. The place itself is so -so. But for everything else... I give it just the one. read more

Don't go here. The owner is an a$$hole with a capital A. I was on a bike ride this morning when my bike broke down near his store. While waiting for someone to pick me up I went inside to buy some food while waiting. It was cold outside so I stood near the door waiting for my ride. The owner was a jerk and told me to go outside and wait by the picnic table. Don't give this guy your business. Go somewhere else. read more

They're running a racket! You can buy permits closer to the beach. Stopped in to buy an annual parking permit as I always do, forked over the $22 for the annual permit I asked for. Upon initial inspection, it looked like a 2012 permit so I carried on with my journey to the beach. As I put the permit on my dash, I realized they handed me a day pass. When I returned to the store, I thought they would have noticed the $15 they would have returned to me for over payment. But no, they either did not pay attention to my payment or pocketed the cash. It's doubtful they even rang up my cash payment. I tried to ask nicely at first and explained what happened but it quickly got heated. They clearly were not paying any attention to their customers as usual since the soap operas that are always on were ranked up and are certainly more important than their overpaying customers. He even admited to not paying attention to the people who come in. After arguing with the owner for 20 min. , he returned 15 to me when the lady who I initially dealt with walked away, probably with the 15 in her pocket. Needless to say, I'll avoid the dirty unfriendly little store. read more
