I love Trader Joe's! It has so many unique items, it's definitely worth checking out, and you'll be hooked on repeat visits!

Usually the staff are friendly but it's a hit or miss. Today around 5 pm I was checked out by Sylvia P. and her posse of coworkers. I spent several minutes waiting near the register for her to even acknowledge me while she giggled and gossiped with them. Finally, she asked me how I was doing, I responded 'oh I'm fine,' and she clearly wasn't listening to me (going back to talking to her other co workers on the next register) because she asked me yet AGAIN how I was doing in a more ruder tone. The bagger was also side tracked by the other co workers and didn't help me bag at all. Maybe split them apart next time. Annoying as hell. read more

Another Joe to love. And for all the same reasons, I love all the Joes in my life: Behold the glory of Trader Joe's! Step through these automatic doors, and you enter a land of wonder. A place where cauliflower masquerades as pizza crust, peanut butter cups are basically currency, and somehow, inexplicably, 3-5 dark chocolate hazelnut bars end up in my cart every single time. What I love: --Avocados that are just the right level of ripe, like some sort of mystical fruit sorcery. Seriously, how does Joe pull this off, time after time? --Cheese aisle nirvana--who knew you needed blueberry goat cheese? Trader Joe's knew. --Unexpectedly fancy frozen meals that make you feel like a world traveler in sweatpants. --$5 flowers that trick your house into looking like you have your life together. Red flags I should heed: --I pop in for "just one thing" and leave with an armful of mystery snacks and three kinds of hummus. --I become emotionally attached to a seasonal item, and then--poof!--it vanishes until next year. I'm looking at you, Lemon Pesto! --Parking lot chaos. Every Trader Joe's lot is a gladiator-style tournament where only the boldest survive. Seriously, the parking pissing me off. Get it together, Joe. Still, it's a magical land of snacks, surprises, and affordable gourmet delights. I would get lost in your aisles again and again, Joe. This Trader Joe's is in a convenient place with ample parking. The exterior was decorated with holiday decorations! It's always exciting to see seasonal items & to try new things. We went to find & try the kimbap but it's so popular it was sold out! We purchased the pre-cut mixed fruit as a snack and it was delicious. For the second time in three weeks, another work trip brought my to the mainland. The silver lining, I got another trip to TJ's. Went a bit overboard on this trip spending twice as much as I did in Carson City. But I wanted to try some things I haven't tried before. Store was nice and clean as usual. Parking lot was a bit packed, as were the check out lines. Also disappointed that they don't sell hard alcohol here. But still got some nice snacks to take home. I come from a land of no Trader Joe's (Hawaii) so of course, any Trader Joe's is a win for me. I walked out with over $200 in goods. LoL. Yes, call me crazy. Not everything I bought was for me though. Honestly, why isn't there a Trader Joe's in Hawaii? So many items were priced in the $1 ~ $3 range, it's so affordable! Love all Trader Joe's, some more than others! As many reviewers stated, the Trader Joe's in the Alphabet District is the perfect size, it's clean, well stocked, has friendly customer service, beautiful fresh flowers - BUT - the parking lot is a nightmare and I'd rather not have to pass beggars, political rants and people selling their wares to get through the Entrance. I also refuse to pay for street parking to spend money in a grocery store. Luckily I can go during off hours, usually right after the gym at 10:30 in the morning when it's not crowded. For 18 years The Traders in Hollywood was my store, and I still go there when I am on the east side because they have a huge parking lot and the store was recently remodeled and expanded. But now that I moved across the river, I shop at this location once or twice a week. My favorites: - Cheese selection is vast and far better prices than other grocery stores. Get the ginger mango Stilton, it's addictive! Love their whole milk ricotta to top pasta or toast for breakfast. Their bite sized mozzarella balls are perfect for a Caprese salad, along with their heirloom cherry tomatoes. - Prepared meal section is awesome, especially if you cook for one or two people. My faves are the green chile chicken enchiladas, made with white meat chicken breast, cotjo cheese, scallions and green chili sauce. They taste freshly home made and you get 4 for $6.99. The Italian meatloaf is also tasty and if you add mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas, it's a full meal. I've also bought the carnitas, which are decent. - Love the variety and prices of dried nuts and fruits. Raisins, cashews, almonds, apricots, dried mango are my faves. - For everyday cooking I buy the Trader Joe's olive oil and spray version of olive oil. Their tomato sauce makes a good starter and I stock up on penne, orzo, linquini and their specialty seasonal pastas. Their price for marinated artichoke hearts can't be beat and I love the roasted cherry tomatoes which make a quick and easy bruschetta, good enough for company. In the refrigerator area I buy their pizza dough for homemade Stromboli's and pizza, of course. - The veggie area rocks, their variety and prices for bagged lettuce is the best. I go through several bags a week preferring the arugula, baby kale and butter lettuce. Always buy their sugar snap peas, broccoli florets, heirloom tomatoes and English Cucumbers. When in season, I buy the champagne grapes. If you haven't had them, look for them end of July and buy them when you see them- they are in season for just two weeks. Same with the fresh figs and the Sugarkiss cantaloupes; they are insanely sweet. Get them! - Snacks are plenty! Their triple ginger snap cookies are crave worthy. Love their unsalted peanut butter filled pretzels, dark chocolate peanut butter cups and English Toffee. Their hummus is really good and so affordable. Same with their salsa and dips. - Their wine selection has the variety and price range I like and I enjoy their tastings to find wines I would normally never give a chance. While I don't like 2-buck Chuck, their Chariot red blend is full and delicious for just $5.99. I buy it buy the case as an everyday wine, one that if you don't finish it, it doesn't pain you if it goes bad. - Love the holiday time when they get their seasonal items. Triple Ginger Beer is the best for Moscow Mules. I stock up on their gift packs of oil oils from around the world, honey, rosemary nuts, mini baked Bree bites, chocolate mousse bites, and salted caramels. My only complaint about Traders is you fall in love with a product and then it disappears! For years they had a three cheese ravioli and then poof, it's gone. Now all the ravioli have meat or veggies in addition to the cheese. Sometimes just cheese is what you crave. I miss their advocado lime salad dressing that made my homemade southwest bowls next level. And their raspberry, walnut, goat cheese dressing. I should have stocked up! There have been a few times where an item was bad or turned bad before the expiration date or we didn't enjoy an item and they replaced it or reimbursed us, no problem. That's good service! What a great store...seriously. We were meeting friends for dinner next door and were running quite early...OHHH HUMMUS! No joke, I will clue you into their Mediterranean hummus which is ridiculously good. They also have a perfect assortment of pita for dipping but we also love their naan (grill it and then dip into the hummus!) and also sesame crackers which are another favorite of mine. Veggies are always very fresh and plentiful, flowers and plants are a must (seriously, start bringing your friends more presents - these are too beautiful and inexpensive to not give to everyone you know), their wine...some snacks (dried fruits, nuts and chips) plus a few cookies and I cannot fail to mention their well priced and delicious wines whether you adore a full bodied red or a super sweet white. I am also a huge fan of their swordfish which is frozen but perfect and at such a great price. I cannot say great stuff for a lot of their frozen desserts but I am a fan of the lava cakes and ice creams. They do offer many options is meals which are easy - I am just not the person who buys though but I hear great things from friends about them. I also love to report what great customer service I get across the board at every Trader Joes I go to, including this one. Love Trader Joe's for their cheese and other food basics that are reasonably priced. Their produce section still is not great so I rarely ever get my fruits and veggies here - still see a lot of plastic. I particularly like this store as their signs indicate what products are seasonal. Thank you. There's been a handful of times where I try something new and didn't realize it was seasonal (rookie mistake, I know) and it's gone the next time I shop. I appreciate this so that I know when to return to stock up on that particular product! read more

I like Trader Joe's in general. I'm really impressed with how well this location is handling the Covid 19 crisis right now. They are carefully managing how many people can be in the store at a time. While the line outside is long (social distancing make it look worse than it is) everything inside is streamlined. Also, the parking lot is unusually empty. Because TJ's always stocks stores throughout the day , they are not having the same issues as other stores right now. I haven't had any issue with anything except toilet paper. read more

I have three complaints for Trader Joe`s 1.Why is parking so hard to find? Even though I know there is a very good reason for that, and even if they increased the parking lot, it will still always be full. 2.Why do they have to come up with such great snacks and foods? I mean how many snack cupboards do I need to have in my house now? 3.And Why do all the memes about Trader Joe`s only include Millennial's coz isn't that place loved by everyone? Very well stocked, fresh produce, great prices and great customer service.They have some great products , few of our favorites are -Everything but the bagel seasoning and spread , Sweet Corn- Burrata, & Basil Ravioli, Malabari paratha ,Vegetable masala burger patties , cauliflower gnocchi , Brownie Crisp Coffee Ice Cream Sandwiches, Mango and cream bars.I am sure I cant recall a lot of other stuff that I have loved here however with the exception of a handful of things every purchase and find has been fantastic. They stock a lot of great wines as well that are reasonably priced. Love the potted plants and succulents that come in cute pots. The only thing I find inconvenient is that you have to walk around the store many times before you can locate the product that you were looking for, so maybe a better arrangements or display of signs would be useful. read more

On a very cold night in Portland, which is also my last day in Oregon & panicking because I didn't get my Trader Joes' necessities. My lovely daughter brought me here to this Trader Joe's location. Thanks goodness! Id be flying back to Hawaii empty handed. Out of all the Trader Joe's store I visited, I love this one the most. I love the old fashioned look at this Trader Joes. I love that its very spacious, neat and clean. The only part I hate is the parking lot, a busy lot with small parking space. The cashiers are so friendly, prices are super cheap, & No TAX. They carry such unique items and never was I disappointed with every single item ( old and new) I bought. Every visit to Trader Joe's I always noticed, they have a new item. The one thing I regret is not buying enough to last me until my next Trader Joe's visit. Oh that one question, what is your favorite from Trader Joe's or What can I get you from Trader Joe's, hmmm I like to say one of each please.!! Every visit to Trader Joe's, I always enjoy looking at the alcohol, fresh plants and produce section. I am teasing myself because I can't bring it back, with me back to Hawaii. The flowers and plants are so fresh and pretty. The alcohol, wow!! super cheap and you can't go wrong with the quality of Trader Joe's alcohol. The produce are so fresh, cheap & packaged nicely. I bought a bottle of VINTJS Pinot Noir from Williamette Valley, for only 8.99 to enjoy at the hotel. (limited quantity) If you see this wine available, get a bottle, I really enjoyed it. I just had my best experience at a Trader Joe's ever. I went to get my get my items rang up and the cashier was talking to a coworker. I'm sure it was a productive conversation, anyway. The only acknowledgment I got from the cashier was that of ringing up my food. No hello, how are you doing, what are you up, your total is etc. None of the agonizing rhetorical stuff I'm usually bombarded with when I visit Trader Joe's. This is truly a wonderful store staffed by amazing people. the person making ice cream samples was truly lovely and the checkout person whose name was Colby talk Shakespeare with me and gave my son stickers and even praised him when he recited a little Shakespeare. Most Trader Joe's are about the same wherever you are. As someone that has lived all over this country, I appreciate that consistency. The NW Portland store seems to have a workplace culture that's unique, but not in a good way. The employees here are some of the rudest, most oblivious and most entitled workers in any store I've ever been in, period. They stand around in the aisles chatting and gossiping, blocking access and causing traffic jams in a very busy store. I've tried being polite and saying "pardon me" to try to get to groceries I need just to be ignored or sneered at for interrupting their important conversation. I will not be polite with them ever again. Another thing that drives me crazy is they don't give customers the right of way when passing. Guests or customers should always be graciously allowed to pass first in any service or hospitality based industry. I live close to this store but I find ways to use other TJ locations to do my shopping to avoid this store as much as possible. read more

I've never found a Trader Joe's I didn't love. They're all more or less the same! Love one Trader Joe's, love them all. They're consistent. They all carry the same products. The only thing that changes between them is how much of a nightmare their parking lots are. This one is horrendous. Honestly, it's a nightmare. Avoid it at all costs. You'll be stuck once you decide to enter it. If you're going to come here, do what I do: park on the street on a Sunday before 1pm (while parking is free). It's the least stressful option. This store was a great addition to the area. Lots of unusual groceries, great cheeses, great snacks at usually fair prices. The problem is they get you to fall in love with an item and then discontinue it! Parking here is difficult but in this neighborhood any parking is unusual so that is a plus in my book. It is usually busy here with lots of people but they are staffed for it so the lines move fast. My favorite things here: The cheese! Flowers! Treats like cookies and Macaroons. Naan. It is all about the naan, man. My current food obsession that just isn't stocked in most stores. Freddies - nope. New Seasons - the guy in the bakery had no idea what I was talking about. TJ's is the place. Not only do they have naan, they have five varieties, so I loaded up on garlic, tandoori, whole wheat, etc. last weekend. Then you get the hummus quartet for dipping and it is a party in your mouth. Lake Oswego is my usual store, but I've been to this one several times in past couple of months on weekend mornings and always had a great experience. Compared to other grocery stores they have the nicest (and dare I say cutest) staff. This location is actually larger and cleaner then the LO location. I imagine parking can be a nightmare, but I've been able to park in their lot with no problems every time. This is also a store that it is impossible for me to leave without buying curries, tortilla chips, wine, chocolate (those peanut butter cups are insanely good!) and flowers. I never buy flowers anywhere else, but at TJ's they have the most beautiful (and affordable) selection and they last for weeks. read more

The front of this TJ is old school, take me back kind of 80's look in the heart of Nob hill Northwest. I was here last week to pick up a few bottles of Willamette wines. Always, during the many frequented trips to this store, I have found their prices so much better than New Seasons ( the latter just stocks way more notable labels and varietals). On average, their inventory runs about $4-6 less than New Seasons. Wine tasting is free in the afternoon. All they had was beer that day--- pass, thx. Nice bottle of Adelsheim Pinot and an Eola white, without breaking the bank! I love the ease of being able to walk to this store, or drive. Open with later hours, and always with a bathroom at its rear when I'm in a pinch! I hate to be that person but... I'm going to be that person. I love Trader Joe's. The cheap & good wine, the healthy frozen foods, the packaged odds-and-ends that you might not find anywhere else. I do a lot of my shopping here (except for produce - TJ's always seems to be lacking in the produce department). However, a recent experience in this store has ensured that I'll be driving to Lake Oswego next time I have a pressing Trader Joe's need. I'd lost my job recently and was on food stamps for a while. Nobody likes being on food stamps - it's not exactly a point of pride, but a girl's gotta eat. I've discovered that thankfully, most grocery store checkers don't bat an eye when you use an EBT card, and they don't judge you. Well, not openly. Not so for this Trader Joe's. When I came through the checkout one night, the cashier was pleasant enough - until I paid. As soon as I swiped the card, she stopped talking to me and started shouting to a co-worker one lane over about what she did last night. She didn't say a word to me for the rest of the transaction, not even when I gathered my groceries and thanked her. It was like I ceased to exist. Listen, lady, I don't like being unemployed and on the dole any more than you do. You think you could at least keep your judgment under wraps until I leave the store? I was so irritated that I contacted the manager, writing a calm and polite letter, and never heard back. This TJ's lost my business for good. Oh, and the parking lot? An absolute nightmare. It's tiny and every row is one-way, so if you don't find parking in the first row you go through, you have to exit the lot, drive around two blocks (one-way streets) and come back so you can scope out the second row. As a visitor to the States, I don't know the history behind Wholefoods and Trader Joe's My perception is that Wholefoods has a slightly dodgy corporate image with the public here while Trader Joe's retains a trendy anti-establisment reputation. This is despite the prices being high in both supermarkets This branch of TJ is located in the chic alphabet district of Portland. It's spacious, clean and bright Staff were helpful and friendly. When I enquired what baked pea crispies tasted of, one employee opened a whole bag for me to try I enjoyed the small tub of watermelon spears but it cost $3.49 read more
