The closest location to my residence. I usually shop at this smaller location once a week and use the pharmacy for all my prescriptions. It is quieter than other local Fredys, and it is laid out understandably. I've only experienced negative(s) in the Customer Service department. There is too much BS when handling any returned item(s). Receipts are always needed. When you really need customer service, pay more at Safeway. Be prepared to have your receipt verified by 'security' when exiting. read more

One of the few Fred Meyer locations that is arranged pretty well which is good since it definitely has unhelpful people. I was a bit shocked as to how quiet my shopping trip was though I think all of downtown was at the Timbers game which, unfortunately, got out as I was leaving. So, pro tip and do not do what I did because that made for a very unfun exit. Do yourself a favor also and just park in the garage since street parking is ridiculous. You need to go up the elevator or escalator but the street level of the store is a bit zoo like. read more

I've never been treated so rudely in my life! Don't show here if you're poor you'll be treated like a thief! I had a receipt but the security refused to let me leave! I demanded to speak to a manager and she was rude too! Looked at me like I was doing something wrong while manhandling my groceries while checking them against my receipt. I go out of my way to visit this Fred Meyer. It is my favorite out of all the ones I have been to! Before the pandemic you could get some surprisingly good conveyor belt sushi and even sit down at a mini bar. It made shopping awesome to say the least! Those days are now gone... it's so sad to see the empty spaces. The good news is they do have great pre made sushi rolls. I was shocked with how much I enjoyed my roll! It was a total score because at a certain time they mark many of the rolls down to $5... I'm glad I took the chance! I wouldn't recommend the seaweed salad. Nothing special about it can be said and I felt my money would have been better spent on another roll. They have a very solid beer and wine selection which being a boozy lady is great to see. I dig that they have a robust canned wine selection for those of us who drink on the go... So, on this last trip I gathered up my rolls and canned wine, and had a little picnic at a nearby park. I used my mitten as a paper bag substitute to hide my love of sushi and champagne (sparkling can wine... judge me all you want it was great!). Maybe I'm crazy but I'd love to do that again. Went in to withdraw bottle drop funds from kiosk. Kiosk printed my CASH voucher . I took it to Marvin (csr) and he panicked because the amount was 84.75. He started calling security, managers, and other co-workers as if I had violated a rule. Well Marvin is black so he automatically assumed I was black and i was doing something illegal. After 5 minutes of being treated as if my voucher was counterfeit and after 4 phone calls he cashed it. How sad that blacks turn on Indians. The whole experience was discriminatory. Service: I'm a long time Fred Meyer customer, even worked at Fred Meyer through high school and university. I have noted several changes of policy and service levels since Kroger bought out Fred Meyer. The older I get, the less I get any kind of respect for my age or level of disability. At 61 years old, I was confronted by an employee of the Stadium store on my last visit of June 6, 2023, in place of the 'store director' who I asked to see and who was on a conference call. I have been harassed and given grief at this store multiple times while having to wait for my local transit's disabled shuttle. I have been forced to move, told I can't loiter and treated like dirt with my walker full of purchases made at this store. Today was the final straw. Being disabled, my phone is my lifeline to help or aid. I complied with the first demand made by the security guard that I move from my place leaning against the side of the building sitting on the ground next to my loaded walker, into the sunlight on the edge of the street having to stand to wait. All of the benches the stores used to have as a courtesy for the elderly and disabled have disappeared. The lack of being able to sit and rest as well as the movement into direct sunlight was causing an increase in my pain levels and risk of passing out as well as getting me sunburned. I take meds that increase my already awful sun sensitivity! I then moved into the lobby to take shelter. Where I have waited before. I got the same security guard, the Fred Meyer man sent from the store manager and an ADDITIONAL security guard, (3 in-shape younger men to intimidate a 61 yo disabled woman? Really?) I commented on their ridiculous tactics, was told I couldn't plug in my phone... even when I expressed I was DISABLED AND WAITING FOR A DISABLED ASSISTANCE LIFT ride from our transit system and my phone could use a charge. I let them know that their disrespect in approaching me and repeatedly harassing me was not appreciated or appropriate. I was then asked if the young man had been disrespectful in his language. I was too intimidated and overwhelmed to answer, but I can let you know that 3 men approaching a 61 yo woman are intimidating and of COURSE I felt disrespected. Treated like an awful human who had no reason to be there and buy groceries. Ambience: In the last 1/2 hour of standing at the curb and waiting for my transit I watched the three of them get into altercations with many people on the sidewalk. Even going so far as to yell and exchange insults with them. No more shopping at these stores. (One month and ongoing!) Their prices aren't better than other stores, the management here is rude and their simply truth and organic products are sub par. I wish they had kept their nasty and disrespectful policies in the other Kroger stores In the midwest! No need to worry about people wanting to continue to spend money when they can't feel safe from your policies even pausing outside your store. I truly hope that none of you are ever sight and mobility impaired and have to receive the 'benefits' of your policies to 'keep you safe.' Oh, being told that I could go sit at Dutch Bros coffee across the street where I could plug in my phone took the cake! As if I would bother to wait here if I didn't need to stay in sight for my ride. I'm only one customer, but I sincerely hope that others are not getting the same experience. After the anxiety attack and crying jag I ended up subjecting my poor driver to, I decided that submitting to this kind of thing just to get only some of my groceries isn't worth it. read more

Today I'm in Portland with my girlfriend Amber and our friend Jeff for the STP bike ride and after dinner we went to Fred Meyer in downtown Portland. As we were walking out it was Jeff, Amber, myself and one other gentleman. The other gentleman, like myself is a person of color. Right as we get to the exit, the security guard literally jumps in front of me, and says, "I need to see your receipt, and yours." Yours being the aforementioned person of color waking out with us. Mind you he let Jeff walk by, didn't ask Amber for her receipt and she was on my right, closer to the security guard. He literally had to step in front of her cutting her way off to put a hand in front of my chest to demand to see my receipt. My response was to ask him, "Sure, if you don't mind telling me why the only 2 people you asked for a receipt are the people of color. His response, "What was that?" You should've seen the look on his face. It wasn't chagrin or the least but apologetic. Rather it was one of total surprise that I would have the "gall" to call him out. The smug bastard. What a blatantly racist asshole. We were in a group of 4 people all within 2 to 3 feet of one another. And it would be one thing entirely if he were asking to see the receipts if everyone exiting the store. But he wasn't. He literally went out of the way to ask, only Filipino and the black man for their receipt s. It's been a few years since I've wanted to hit someone. But it's entirely frustrating & infuriating that as model minorities we're still expected to put up with that type of micro aggressions. read more

Totally surprised by how nice, clean and well stocked the downtown Fed Meyers is! Lots of gorgeous produce and lots of organic as well. There is a huge wine area with shopping carts of discounted wine. There is also a bar! Yep, you heard that right - a bar in the middle of Fred Meyers! Varied and inexpensive selection of wines and beer, with daily happy hours and Timbers viewing parties. What? Sign me up? The bakery section was loaded with offerings from all the top local bakeries without the huge markup prices that other stor s sell for this convenience. Jaciva tortes and cakes; Papa Hardin delectable deserts; croissants and cinnamon rolls from La Petite Provence;sticky buns from Marsee Bakery; and lots of tasty offerings made in store. Definitely coming here next time I need a delicious dessert for a dinner party. They don't just have sushi, they have a full on sushi bar! Plus a convenient takeout kiosk with fresh made sushi to go. The cheese counter is well stocked with local and national brands with lots of high end crackers, jams, dried fruit and nuts to create a stellar platter. Now to the grocery area, it's huge and spread out. The store is not as large as the NE Weidler store where I shopped for 19 years when I lived in NE, but the way it's designed, you literally have to cover the entire store footprint if you want produce, dairy and staples. The housewares, personal items and home and garden are practically amongst the food aisles. Baffled me and made it challenging to figure out the logic. I'm sure I'll get better at this once I visit more often and get used to a completely different layout. There is plenty of parking underground. The garage is well lit, which is super important to me since there are a lot of street people in this part of town and it can be intimidating. The recycling area is at the opposite end of the doors to the elevators - Good call! At the UnSafeway on 10th & Jefferson, it can be uncomfortable navigating through this area to get into the store. Fred Meyers planned this well. The day I was there the escalator up to the store was not working. Hope this is temporary as the wait for the elevator took some time and there were a few people I didn't want to be in an elevator with so I waited to go it alone. There is also a parking area outside on NW 20th place, conveniently located across from entryway, which I will use next time. In addition to picking up a few groceries, I scored a few Easter items on sale and some Mexican salsa bowls. That's what I always liked about Freddy's, one stop shopping. And this store, while limited in the non-grocery items, delivers. Since I go to a gym nearby, I'll be back. From the outside location I had my doubts, but inside was all good. read more

Do you know what a hypermarket is? Yeah, me neither, but it's a hybrid of a supermarket, a big-box store, and a department store, at least according to Wikipedia. Unless you count Costco, I don't think I had been to one until I entered this endless store off Burnside. I've never been to such a huge market, but consider that I'm from San Francisco where fashion-forward markets are so claustrophobic that I end up impulse buying my groceries just to get out of there. Honestly, I don't even know where to start with this review. I live pretty close to this Fred Meyer and get my prescriptions from there. I used to shop there regularly before the pandemic really hit, the prices were acceptable, and the staff was friendly enough. The last few months they started implementing some really, in my opinion, inappropriate practices. Last time I was in there I needed to use the restroom but they denied it because my bag was too big. They have security officers at every door now, and the staff seems overworked and rundown. Which they are, it's completely unfair what Kroger is doing to those employees. They need more help, and not necessarily in the form of security guards, but more staff to make sure that the store runs smoothly. I've never felt unsafe at this location, I've just felt sad. read more

I've been a loyal and happy Stadium Fred Meyer customer since 1984, but about two years ago I began to notice a shift in employee attitude, and not in a good way. The quality customer service I'd become accustomed to, pretty much disappeared. I'm still fine with Fred Meyer prices and selection, but because of the regular negative interactions with employees, I started transitioning my shopping to the other NW Portland stores. (Fred Meyer should take customer service lessons from Trader Joe's). I'm still happy with the service I receive from the F.M. pharmacy, but not so much from the other areas of the store, especially the often short-tempered clerks at the self checkout stations. read more

This is my personal favorite grocery store in the area and we have quite a few over here. They are always well stocked and clean, there is ample parking and one can find great deals sometimes as well . There hardly has been a thing that I was looking for and did not find. The staff is always very helpful . The wine section has some pretty cheap finds at times and I would highly recommend the cheeses here . If you are by yourself or shopping for a party you can almost always find great stuff at great prices . They have a good bakery section as well as quite a lot of gluten free and vegan options available .The produce is also fresh and have a good variety. The prices are comparable to other grocery stores in the neighborhood. read more

I've had it with this dump. Is it that hard for a single employee to just be moderately polite and at least kind of do their job? The last time I was in there, the woman who rang me out complained that I put cat litter on the belt because she'd have to lift it (or more correctly, slide it). Then after she scanned it she expected me to walk around my cart and go take it off the belt for her. Today, the guy who rang me out just decided to stop bagging my groceries about halfway through. We love to shop here. It is the closest to where we are which is nice. The produce selection is vast and the vegan options are plentiful. The cosmetics section is also very large which I appreciate when I run low on something. However I will say the bathrooms are never stocked with toilet paper, the stall doors don't always work, and it's pretty dirty. I understand with such large traffic it's hard to maintain but it's probably better to go to another place nearby. There is always a slight bit of chaos here. Overall decent groceries. read more

Giving a two star review because things are so inconsistent at the pharmacy. I have had people I have sent positive notes to management about who have really gone out of their way to help. And then I have had people with horrible, terrible attitudes who were just plain rude, like today (S.). Overall, convenient, but with a couple exceptions, poorly trained and overworked staff. Tip, make sure to call in and check if your prescription is ready, they generally will fill in a central location, then send them to the various Fred Meyers, I think on Tuesdays if I recall correctly. This can mean a wait of several days, but they are usually good if you call ahead by at least 4-6 hours. They also can get backed up to the point that if you are there and ready for a new prescription it may be at least 3 hours from when you show up. For example today, being in intense pain, I was able to get a lidocaine patch after it being called in, but not until they had had it for 7 hours...and that was only because I literally begged for them to provide it before tomorrow. read more

After considerable thought, I am updating this review to 5 stars. Why the dramatic increase you may ask? Well, because, the folks working at this Fred Meyer always go out of their way to accommodate me and they actually remember my name and greet me in a friendly manner. I do have a quirky request: about every two weeks I visit the seafood counter and ask for 2 dozen, 6 oz. salmon fillets to be cut and wrapped separately. I know that it is a time consuming request and so I always try to go early and when I know they aren't busy. The thing is, they are always very happy to do what I ask and I greatly appreciate it, so thank you! The store is always spic n' span with plenty of friendly folks working should I need help finding a product. I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I like the cheese counter. Since the remodel, there is a lot more to choose from. I should also give a shout out to the floral department. They are always willing to arrange and wrap whatever I buy so I can present the flowers I bought as a lovely gift. I've never stopped for a glass of wine or sushi and am still a little bewildered as to why they would spend money on a wine and sushi bar, but, whatever. Parking on the other hand, well, let's just say, good luck to you. You may have to do a bit of circling so take a Dramamine before going and trying to park. Besides the parking not being so great, I really do love this Fred Meyer and the lovely folks that work there. I'm pleased to say that they've started cracking down on the theft at this store. There is security everywhere and they've started checking receipts. Everyone's receipts. Also, they've started locking things like Tide Pods, makeup, razor blades, etc. in secure cases. The last two times I went to this store, I saw security stop thieves. One was a guy who had loaded a cart full of water bottles and attempted to roll the cart out without paying. (I'm sure he was planning to pour the water out and return the containers for cash.) Another was a guy who was shoplifting, and the guards escorted him out. There is now a cohort of tweakers who sit on a wall across the street from the store smoking their meth and sucking on their gums (because they have no teeth). For years, I've watched people blatantly and openly steal from this store and the employees just let it happen. Also, I've watched the prices go up, higher than prices in the suburbs. Tried to order 3 sandwiches from the deli today, at lunch time mind you, and the women behind the deli counter was EXTREMELY rude and didn't even know how to make a sandwich. I asked for wheat bread and she immediately said "we are out" and I could see it right next to her hand. The sandwiches were put together so sloppy and terrible. As we went to leave we heard her say "if I wanted to make fucking sandwiches all day I would have gotten a job at subway"...and yes she dropped the eff bomb. UNBELIEVABLE. They show specials for 2 for a certain price or other scam specials to get people to buy extra and never give you the discount. It is a big scam they have going even admitted from people who work there. When I called the store, they gave me a number to call to get the credit back to my card. When I called them and waited on hold and jumped through the phony robot system, I finally got a hold of a person and they told me I had to go back to the store. I asked if they were going to pay my fuel let alone my time to drive clear back to the store and they said oh no we can't do that. Some agency should give them a HUGE fine to send a message to these scammers. No wonder they can offer Billions to buy Albertsons. Probably can buy them just off the profit from scamming people. Fred Meyer was my back up plan since Trader Joe's was closed. There's a pretty good selection of beer, wine and fruits. Of course the quality is not as great, but I can deal with that. All the neccessities such as soap, cereals, frozen foods are covered and I couldn't be more thankful. Now the cooked food section of the store, that's another story. How can I say this nicely... ummm, it was horrendous. The mac and cheese was a soggy and tasteless mess. The meatballs were so sweet to the point where I couldn't eat more than 2 and I threw out the rest. The mashed potatoes was too liquidy and the corndogs were a little too hard. I had no idea the hours had changed and have never felt so disrespected as a customer in my lifetime! An employee allowed me to come back inside to retrieve my house keys and on the way out grabbed about 5 items as there were still about 20 people waiting in line. The employee pictured came up behind me, and turned off the self service register and when I asked to speak to a manager due to the fact that she refused to allow me to purchase my items, she told me to leave the premise and that the store was closed. She refused to let me purchase my items even though there were several customers still in the other lines and I was checking myself out in self service. To add insult to injury, of the five people ringing themselves in self checkout she chose to turn off my register first. I asked to speak with a manager, and she told me " I am the manager" then proceeded to flip me off on my way out and joke about it with her employees!!! I've been shopping at this location every couple days and it really is unfortunately that you have lost a customer should this serious issue be addressed. I own a large business and we purchase from here often. Thankfully I have had decent experience with upper management and I can garuntee you that this woman was a not a manager just based on her unprofessionalism.
