Since joining Adlibmasters, my speaking skills have improved tremendously. The club meetings are very organized. Meetings generally start off with two or more members giving speeches. The prepared speeches are followed by an extemporaneous session that gives other members an opportunity to practice their impromptu speaking skills. Finally, constructive feed back and helpful tips are given to the speakers and other participants. Everything is structured, timed and presented in a format with the end goal being to improve its member's speaking skills. I've been in this club for many years and each time I come it seems that I learn something new. I definitely have no regrets after joining Adlibmasters.

This was exactly what I needed to get familiar with a professional woodshop and all the essential tools. The class accomplished its main goal perfectly: giving beginners hands-on experience with the equipment in a safe, structured way. Over two Saturday afternoon sessions (3.5 hours each), we made a simple candle holder while rotating through practically every major tool in the shop. We used the sliding compound miter saw, jointer, planer, table saw, band saw, router, and various sanders. While the project itself wasn't particularly exciting, it was clearly designed to maximize tool exposure rather than create a masterpiece. David was an excellent instructor who prioritized safety above all else and patiently answered every question. The class size of about 10 people felt just right for getting individual attention. The woodshop itself is impressive with a fantastic selection of professional-grade tools. Parking was easy and the classroom was simple to locate. At around $150 per person, it's not cheap, but felt reasonable considering you're getting access to thousands of dollars worth of equipment and quality instruction. Just expect to get covered in sawdust! We had plenty of time to complete our project without feeling rushed. This class is perfect for complete beginners who want to learn woodworking basics in a supportive environment. It's specifically designed as a safety prerequisite for their more advanced classes where you can tackle more interesting projects. If you're thinking about woodworking as a hobby or just want to try it out, this is an ideal starting point. I'm definitely planning to take more classes here.

This is for the Autobody Repair and Welding night courses only…read more The autobody repair with McTaggert was great. Structured classes. Takes you from banging out dents to welding holes and body filler. No paint in this class. If you are looking for job training then I wouldn't recommend the evening class as you wont learn/practice enough to become job proficient. I would assume his day class would get you there though. He is thorough and supportive. If you are like me who wants to learn for a personal project it is perfect. The welding course is good if you have had a bit of welding experience. It is very self directed and you only get feedback if you ask. The supply of equipment and materials makes it worth the fee alone. If you are willing to do a bit of out of class studying (youtube/welding books/forums) and apply it in class you will benefit immensely from this class. I spent all 4 months at the tig bench and sometimes prepped materials at home (and welded too-I bought a tig shortly after class started because I knew I liked it once I tried)so I can better use my time. After 4 months most people asked if I welded for a living.

I was typically the only student who came in-person since most students take the class remote, but being able to be in the same room as the instructor helped my motivation during class immensely. Rhya and Nicky are both so kind and knowledgeable. You can tell that they are not only experts in the language (as native speakers from the Philippines) but in pedagogy. As a community college professor myself, I admire how organized the class was and how welcoming they are. The other students in my recent class were highly motivated and excited to learn Tagalog for various reasons. Some like me grew up with Filipino parents but never learned Tagalog, while others are in relationships with Filipinos/Filipino Americans and want to engage more deeply with the community through language. Overall, SJLC has been a positive experience, and I am excited to take the next (and last) level of Tagalog 3. The current rates for Tagalog (7 weeks, weekly meeting for small group) is $399 remote, $419 in person, and $449 hybrid -- note: this is a "Prime" class, so it is priced a bit higher since the instructor is a native speaker with 5+ years of teaching experience).

The instructor that I had, Keiko is great. She is very patient and always willing to help. (The courses can be fast though depending the language and the books being used). The other people there are always very polite and helpful as well. The facility, while basic, is clean and conducive to learning. They seem to use a mix of media (e.g. slides, Quizlet, etc. which is good). FYI - it is near SJC - San Jose Int'l airport and the jets taking off can be somewhat loud at times.

He said that he's enjoying the AI engineering, that fire was hard, but he didn't care for film and productions. Regardless, the program gave students a curriculum to follow and kept them learning for 3 weeks. I was just surprised when it was him that wanted it, not just me pushing this on him. Rather that than being on the phone any day. I will say though that some parents are not thoughtful and considerate. To be in this program (which is free) and kids from various schools are provided free transportation, free lunch, free snacks.. the only requirement was for the students to remain at school the entire time. You cannot pick and choose when you want your kid to attend classes. A lot of students were turned away for your student yet you don't have the common courtesy to adhere to the program requirement. Gavin shared a lot of students were cut the 2nd week which means other students/families could have benefited from this.

I am Extremely disappointed in how student concerns are handled at Silicon Valley Career Technical Education. When issues involving an instructor were raised, administration minimized the situation and demanded excessive "proof" rather than taking the concerns seriously. This response shows a lack of accountability and poor leadership. A school should protect students, not dismiss them. Families should think carefully before enrolling.
