Luckily she had texted me from her burner phone, so I had that number, then she calls me back (20 minutes after the class is supposed to start), and says it is at the local library. I get there, and there is one other poor victim there with me. It is immediately obvious that she does not know anything about ACLS. The other RN and I are just flabbergasted. There is no equipment. She left halfway through the course to run errands while we watched videos and took the written test. The megacode was us sitting around the table and talking it through. Now it is nearly a month later, and her burner phone that she actually answered has been disconnected. I called AHA and they can't do anything to help me. I am filing a complaint with AHA. AHA gave me two numbers of companies that she is supposed to be affiliated with, Tidewater Community College and First Response Advantage. First Response says they have not been affiliated with her since 5/2018, and Tidewater CC has already received 3 other calls inquiring about this person, and the person I need to talk to is on vacation until next week. DO NOT GIVE THIS PERSON YOUR MONEY!!

It amounted to over 500 pages because there was no information provided, whether they required Spanish or English copies (each test amounted to about 40 pages, 2 tests, in both languages.) That was just part of the printing I had to do. "Oh, we will reimburse you for printing." So after using one ream of paper, a toner (laser printer) and a drum, or part of one. I asked for 25 cents per copy after considering all the factors, and 500 pages at 25 cents a copy is not an unreasonable amount. I was told they have a fulfillment center, after the fact. They gave me no information about the client, whether American or Hispanic, and I went in cold to teach this class. I would avoid working for this company. They use their instructors by having them operate in a deficit.

This school takes a more curriculum/teaching-oriented approach rather than simple "day care". They follow a pedagogical philosophy similar to Montessori, emphasizing freedom and harnessing each child's own specific interests and motivations. The biggest strength of YS is the outstanding teaching staff, all of whom care deeply about the well-being and growth of the children. The different teachers within the "cottage" of four adjoining classrooms developed individual connections with my son and the other children, knowing well their various interests and quirks. The pre-k cottage director, Ms. Jess oversees the classrooms with expertise and a deep sense of empathy. She effectively fields informal chats with parents about questions and concerns that pop up on the fly. Between the wonderful teachers and cottage director, I always felt that my child was in very safe and nurturing hands. The classroom atmosphere is warm and inviting. There is lots of natural light and many learning stations with carefully thought-out objects left for the children to "discover". Kids get zero screen time at the Young School. Instead of punishing children, behavior is managed through redirection and talking. Healthy snacks are offered, and the staff teaches and practices good hygiene. The main area that could be improved upon is communication from the director. On several occasions, I received mass emails chastising (unnamed) other parents for taking screenshots of the live video feed, requesting child-specific changes to naptime logistics, incorrectly using cubby space, and calling in to the classroom during non-naptime hours. ("Any parent disrupting the day too frequently will lose camera access and a parent meeting will be requested.") I would prefer these types of issues be resolved by one-on-one conversations with the relevant parents, rather than public shaming. The unprofessional tone of these emails was underscored by a lack of basic proofreading. My child's classroom had high turnover, with three different teachers in a six-month period. Shockingly, when one left and was replaced by a brand new employee, parents were not given any notice whatsoever. I showed up one morning to drop off my son in his classroom and encountered a total stranger who claimed to be in charge. Luckily, another teacher was in the cottage area and vouched for the new teacher's legitimacy. Lack of preemptive communication on this type of matter is unacceptable. Another instance of poor communication occurred when initially attempting to enroll my child. The paperwork was confusing and I had trouble getting questions answered, as other reviews have noted. Overall, I recommend the Young School as a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for child; parents may have to deal with some unneccesary hassles.

I called Celebree back to request that they not charge my card for the wait list fee since I would be accepting a slot elsewhere. The Director was kind, understanding and did not charge me. She was gracious and said to follow up if we needed care in the future. I also appreciate that they answer more questions over the phone than other centers. I have had other places refuse to tell me if they had an opening or not. The director at this location is professional, helpful and not exploitative. Great service!

Within the first portion of the class, the instructor clearly stated that taking pictures of the slides was allowed (no video or audio recording). That guidance directly contradicted what happened on the second night, when an individual who later claimed to be the owner abruptly interrupted the class and aggressively singled me out by name, threatening to remove me for doing exactly what we had been told was permitted. There was no attempt to clarify policy, no professionalism, and no respect shown. The situation escalated unnecessarily and created a hostile learning environment. I deescalated and continued the course, but the damage to the overall experience was already done. To make matters worse, once that individual left, the instructor admitted that we had, in fact, been told photos were allowed and apologized. That inconsistency and lack of leadership speaks volumes. As someone who coordinates trainings for a large security company and was actively evaluating potential providers, I can say this experience alone disqualified this organization from consideration. Consistency, professionalism, and clear communication are basic expectations for any training environment, and this fell short on all three. I would not recommend.
