This review is about giving blood at this Red Cross location…read more I want to give the place 5 stars. After all, the object of saving lives is worthy of 5 stars, no? So here's the deal: you must come here altruistically. If you get jaded staff who treat you like a keg to be tapped (I understood that comment, and then some), you have to brush it off because you are there doing a good deed. If you get fun staff who joke with you and keep you informed about what's going on, hooray! You've hit the lottery. And remember: they will never have whatever small gift they are advertising through the Red Cross website when you make your appointment, or mention during pesky reminder phone calls. T-shirt? Of course not. Your choice of $10 gift cards? Of course not. And so we are back to point #1: you must come here altruistically. Oh, and the Red Cross app is useful when you are a regular blood donor...which is a good thing to be, since it saves lives and is easy to do.

My…read morewife and I are both novice gun owners, and wanted to re-learn safety and training from the ground up. Tanner took his time with detail, specificity, and replicability. I highly recommend Adamas for new gun owners, along with anyone wanting to learn from a serious firearms expert. Tanner was very well prepared and we were able to get private use of the range late in the day, which allowed for a lot of technical shooting practice. Top class instruction, that I highly recommend!

San Miguel is an eight story residence hall on campus. It's one of the two "towers" (next to San…read moreNicolas). Boys and girls live on alternating floors, with around 25 people each floor. The living learning communities here are Scholars, Creative & Performing Arts, Chican@/Latin@ Scholars, and Green Living. There's also gender inclusive housing available. Most of the rooms are doubles. The ceilings in these rooms appear to be higher than the two story residence halls, but the size of the rooms are mostly the same. Bathrooms are communal style. You will be sharing it with your hall mates. There should be plenty of sinks, stalls, and showers. Like the rest of the dorms, there's study lounges, kitchenettes, laundry rooms, and a recreation room. San Miguel is right next to Ortega Dining Commons. There's also a large lawn next to it with an outdoor stage. Many events are held here. San Miguel is right next to the lagoon, so you get a view if you're on a high floor. People do complain about the smell if you're on that side of the building. It's also close to the University Center. However, the elevators aren't the best, and it takes longer to get to class if you live on a high floor.

All doors are able to stay open without being propped and the fact that RAs are one per two floors forces you to get to know people!!! The lounges are pretty nice and are always full of fun people. The only downside about almost all housing at UCSB now is that most of these already small rooms are now triples. This shouldn't be much of an issue though because living on campus means you are right in the middle of all the fun and you shouldn't have to spend much time in your room!
