Every class I had was full of information, broken down and explained. We learned by example and hands on. If you are debating on becoming a CNA, ICARE Academy is the best place to get licensed. They offer services to help you meet the requirements such as CPR CERTIFICATION. I did CPR with them and was by far a wonderful experience too. My CNA CLASS, was phenomenal our teacher Mrs. April made us all understand material to the point we can respond with no doubt and full of confidence. Mrs. Christine also made time to break down material we needed further explanation. In one month I became a CNA and adopted my new ICARE ACADEMY FAMILY. I rescheduled a class from June to August , my August class was cancelled because the instructor was out , attempted rescheduling the cancelled class to another day in August but would never get a reply to any of my calls or emails . Finally ended up attending the class and was told the CPR certification would be sent thru email and till this day I have not received a cpr card w the date of the attended class . Let me start off by advising anyone considering the 5 week course to not underestimate the challenge. The EMT scope of practice may not seem very large, but the amount of knowledge you need to learn is vast. The course requires a 1500+ page textbook and you WILL need to learn the entirety of that book in the four weeks of lecture you have at your disposal. It's tough. Our class of nearly 50 had less than 20 graduates. You need to have a good work ethic, pay attention in class, and quite frankly being a good test taker will take you far. With all this being said, our instructor Crystal did a phenomenal job and prepared us better than I believe anyone else could have with the amount of material we needed to learn in the amount of time we needed to learn it. Combining a wealth of real world experience with an extremely impressive/comprehensive knowledge of all things EMS/Anatomy/Physiology Crystal did an exemplary job of teaching us what we needed to learn and preparing us for the NREMT after. I am grateful for the instruction I received and the experience as a whole.

I am disappointed to have to leave a negative review because my concern is not with the instructors…read moreor the EMT education I received, but with the way West Coast EMT has handled the recent situation involving Ryan Cuellar, who taught the Saturday EMT course at the Riverside campus. As a former student, I saw firsthand the amount of time, experience, and dedication Ryan brought to his students. I later returned as a skills instructor largely because of the positive learning environment he created. He consistently went beyond simply teaching the required material and brought substantial real-world EMS and fire experience into the classroom. Many current and former students valued his teaching, mentorship, and commitment to preparing students for work in the field. I am particularly concerned about the circumstances surrounding his termination and the communication leading up to it. Ryan previously worked for an agency where my father is a deputy chief. When Ryan returned to field work, he turned in his agency-issued work phone. Because that phone was no longer in his possession, communications sent to it were not necessarily reaching him. My father and I personally saw messages on that returned device. In my opinion, if there were concerns about Ryan's attendance at meetings or other responsibilities, reasonable efforts should have been made to contact him directly through his current personal contact information and give him an opportunity to address those concerns before such a serious employment decision was made. I am also concerned about the impact an abrupt instructor change may have on the students currently enrolled in his class. EMT courses are intensive, and students build trust and consistency with their instructor throughout the program. A sudden change in instructors can significantly disrupt that learning environment. I understand that there may be internal circumstances that students and former students are not aware of, and I am not claiming to know every detail behind the school's employment decision. However, based on what I personally witnessed as a student and skills instructor, I believe Ryan made a meaningful contribution to the Riverside program and deserved professional communication and an opportunity to address any concerns before his employment was ended. I hope West Coast EMT leadership, including the Riverside administration, takes the concerns of current and former students seriously and reviews how this situation was handled. I would appreciate direct communication from the school regarding these concerns rather than having this review removed or ignored. Students invest significant time and money into their EMT education, and instructors invest significant time into preparing those students for careers where people's lives may ultimately depend on their training. Both deserve professionalism, transparency, and respect.

Anthony showed me around. What I saw was a top-notch facility featuring everything one might expect in a high-level educational environment. I also was fortunate enough to witness interaction between tutors and students. What I saw blew me away. The students were obviously enjoying the learning process, interacting with the tutors actively and smiling brightly. When I first enrolled my boys, I explained to Anthony (the center director) that my youngest son gets anxious about his performance in math, and we would need him to be matched with a patient tutor.
