These cabins were amusingly cheesy, with particle board ceilings, flannel sheets, yard sale furniture, and an ancient TV that actually pre-dated the installation of closed captioning (all TVs after 1993, which my parents needed). Hubby and I switched rooms with them, as ours had a slightly newer TV that did have captions.
Satellite TV was literally 10 local and cheap-cable channels (not even CNN). Small kitchenette area, with fridge, microwave, coffee, tea, popcorn, and cocoa packets. We tried microwaving popcorn, but after only 1 minute, the popcorn was totally burnt, so the microwaves definitely need servicing.
Flannel sheets were really pilled, but the beds were comfy and warm on cold, rainy evenings. Too much fabric softener, though, which I mentioned to the owner upon departing. She didn't seem pleased with any critique. But hey, if the sheets reek of Downy 24/7, and the bath towels instantly feel wet (like super damp and I've barely started drying off), there is WAY TOO MUCH fabric softener in them.
Cheapish deal ($150/night) close to the top of the Spit and lots of restaurant locations in town. Easy walk to Pioneer Avenue, which is the main drag in Homer. Also, there's a Safeway nearby, which was handy for buying cold breakfast supplies and snacks to save a bit of money. read more
