Love love this most perfect little coffee shop & florist shop…read more first of all I was looking for a floral shop to send flowers to my best friend that moved to Ely a few months ago. I contacted them on facebook and they immediately responded. Then Christina took the order and made the most perfect arrangement of yellow roses to deliver. I was so impressed! And my bestie loved her flowers too. So, of course, on my 1st visit to Ely yesterday I had to stop in. It is SO adorable!! Got to meet the so-kind barista that made me a perfect flat white Just a lovely little shop and I plan to visit every day that I'm here! Thanks Flower Basket!!

It made it sweet but not too sweet. The coffee was just strong enough with being bitter. The best part was the atmosphere. Cute, with little green cafe chairs and soft sofas. You can tell they often have families come in because the bathroom had a little toilet seat you could add in the regular toilet for small people. A nice little touch that many places don't think of. I will definitely come back several times on my teip

The staff usually keeps things organized, and the stores are maintained better than most places along the highway. Their app is also surprisingly useful. It's a solid place for Mexican food, we got a combination plate and an enchilada. They had a Midori margarita but they ran out sadly. Understandable as Ely is remote and I know it can be hard to get supplies. Good place to stop by and also check out the casino! It's cool as the casino had a lot of interesting decorations, like an accurate model of a historical ship.

Ordered through the app and ran inside quickly to grab a sauce I forgot. What I saw was…read moredisappointing. An older gentleman had been standing at the counter for about 20 minutes and hadn't been acknowledged at all. Staff were focused on the drive-thru and not paying attention to customers inside. When I asked if we could order at the counter, the manager came over with noticeable attitude. The gentleman ordered first, and I appreciated being able to help him get some service. Not everyone is comfortable using the kiosks, especially across different generations--and in this case, he only had cash. That should never mean being ignored. Once I got my sauce, I went back to wait for my order. The manager later came outside with a sheepish smile, which honestly felt like she knew the situation hadn't been handled well. I get that drive-thru can be busy, but completely ignoring in-store customers--especially someone waiting that long--is not okay.

Drive thru speakers are not the highest quality and that is fine! I do not mind repeating myself as many times as needed to get on the same page. Anything I can do to get a milk for my toddler's happy meal instead of an uncharged caffeinated soda, I will happily do. I was ordering for our family but after the first couple items, the screen with our order disappeared. The man taking our order said it was too complicated to put it on the screen - ok! Technology is hard sometimes. We pulled up and before paying, I asked if the girl at the window could read our order to me (since I couldn't see it on the screen & just wanted to make sure our order was correct.) Reader, she dramatically rolled her eyes, slammed the window, and walked away. So I'm thinking, kids these days are wild and some of them may lack some interpersonal skills but at least this one has a job, ya know? A few minutes later, a cute tiny man comes us to the window with the MOST sour attitude. (I was rooting for you, y2k macaroni frosted tips!) They/he says "I heard you need help? WITH WHAT." The eyebrow. The snap. The body language. It was so, immediately clear that this McDonald's was not a safe space for me and my family. So I chose peace. And by that, I mean we went to Carls Jr. Thoughts and prayers to the owner/operator of this location.

The historic Hotel Nevada converted their restaurant to a Denny's franchise a few years ago. When…read morewe asked locals for a place to eat I'm unsure why more than one of them said, "don't go to Denny's". It's convenient, breakfast is included with your room, and it's really no different than any other Denny's anywhere. We went on two consecutive mornings when we visited Ely and although the service was a little slow during the breakfast the food was well prepared, presented and the server was very courteous. The food was exactly as expected, and I can't imagine how breakfast could be much better than this anywhere else in town. It was certainly several levels above any chain hotel buffet of heated up, pre-prepared foods. Tip - when staying for the free breakfast take the option of applying five dollars off of any menu item instead of the free breakfast. It's pretty skimpy. We paid about $25 for a very nice breakfast this way. Give it a try, especially if you're staying in the hotel. There aren't a lot of other options in Ely.

But, I'm not writing a review of a DMV, I'm writing a review of my lunch at Smash. Those DMV ladies wanted to know where we ate and they agreed, these are the best burgers for a 1000 miles around. I had the mushroom swiss, my son had the regular smash. Deceptively HUGE sandwiches on buttered buns, cooked just right, and seasoned! Fries were tasty. We got there a bit earlier than lunch and didn't question it being empty on a Wednesday, but then we watched the place fill up. People were talking until food arrived and then it was just quiet. That tells you a lot. Can't talk while you're eating. Then I had them pack up all three dessert choices in the display because we could not decide. Chocolate cake, Nutella cheesecake and lemon cheesecake. We drove the two hours home and then sampled...I got one bite of the Nutella and then my son stole it! The husband snarfed the chocolate cake and I hid the lemon from both of them. Waitstaff friendly, workin' hard. Happy to tip.
