Very disappointing experience. The bartender, who appeared to be either inexperienced or temporarily filling in as the manager, made drinks that were poorly prepared and overly sweet with excessive syrup. The drinks were not consumed because they were not enjoyable. I politely requested that the drinks be removed from the bill and offered to pay for the food only. I was informed that the establishment does not provide refunds. Although the bartender offered to remake the drink, I declined at that point due to the overall experience. Despite not consuming the drink, I was still required to pay for it. Unfortunately, the lack of customer service and unwillingness to reasonably resolve the issue left a negative impression. read more

First of all, the ladies at the front of the house greeted us warmly and quickly. The restoration of the whole restaurant made it seem huge and an open inviting space. The new decor was fun. This was a cool family owned spot we stopped into while in town visiting some friends. I ordered the carne asada tacos, which were my least favorite. They were pretty bland and unseasoned, but adding different toppings helped a little. Luckily, the other things I ordered saved the day! The rice and beans were so damn good. Perfectly seasoned and just had great flavor. I was very pleasantly surprised. My blackberry frozen margarita was delicious and super strong. Just one drink got me right! The last thing we ordered was the fried ice cream and it was legit so delicious!!! It's not truly fried, which was a bummer at first. But once I started eating it I fell in love with the crunch and flavor. The ice cream was rolled in some crispy sweet perfection and was fantastic. I'd go back if I'm in town again. Assuming most of the time gets you nowhere! I called this restaurant to inquire if they had Mexican Street Corn..the answer was "yes"! So, I just assumed that it was corn on the cob, b/c I had never seen it any other way...boy was I wrong! It was off the cob; however, it was still tasty. This particular day my husband and I had a taste for street corn, so that's why we chose this place after they answered "yes" to having it. Anyway, after we were unpleasantly surprised that it wasn't (on the cob) we decided to order anyway. I got the chicken fajita, and my husband got some type of burrito. OMGG, the food was (in the words of the young folks) "bussin"! So flavorful and juicy! The waitress was attentive as well. Just had my last meal at Cozumel. Actually, it was a partial meal. I ordered chicken wings. They were undercooked. I sent them back. The server even acknowledged the wings looked undercooked and offered to get another order. After biting into 4 wings and each one being raw to some extent, I no longer wanted wings. When I asked the owner to remove the wings, the owner argued that they weren't uncooked. Also, he refused to take $12.99 for the wings off my check. $12.99 won't make or break me and their losing me as a client won't make or break Cozumel but I'll never give them another red cent of my money! Sad thing is I have eaten there about twice a week with groups of 6 to 12 people for quite a long time but my loyalty as a diner at Cozumel didn't matter to the owner. Why 5 stars, to quote a famous Tampa Elite by the name of Brett N? Simple, I am in rural GA and this was probably the best Mexican in the area. Not a huge sample size, but the best in an area is still the best. We started with chips and salsa and queso. Cheese wa delicious. In fact, their chips were really good too-not too oily or greasy-and the salsa was perfectly mildly spicy. Could have been a bit chunkier but still very enjoyable. I ordered a patron margarita-which was mostly sour mix but this was a Mexican restaurant so you can't expect much more. Also ordered the Cazuelada- Steak, chicken, chorizo and ribs grilled with onions, bell peppers and tomatoes, served with rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, pico de gallo and tortillas. With the exception of the amount of oil on the skillets, this was positively delicious. Meat was cooked perfectly, onions and peppers were crispy and a bit spicy. Rice and beans were delicious. Guacamole and sour cream should go straight to hell for being gross but I would say that anywhere. What else can you say? When you find good Mexican in a place you expect to be a food desert, you enjoy it. I will say that stars should be removed for having nothing for vegetarians or vegans. Their beans are cooked in pork oil and they have no alternate proteins. Therefore, if you have a vegetarian love like I do, this is not a good place unless they are happy with guacamole, lettuce and rice in a tortilla. The only reason I am not removing stars is because I am sure she will take away enough stars for both of us. That said, if you are not vegetarian or gluten free and have no allergies, this is a very good Mexican option in the middle of the middle of nowhere, GA. read more

I went to Cozumel today as I have been going for a few years. Ever since the renovation the ambiance has been horrible. Kevin the "manager"has had a nasty attitude. No drink specials. The new glass windows in the front has a ton of sun light which makes the place hot! The old crew that use to be in there complains about the same thing. What led me to write a review was today I ordered a lunch plate #1 and it was disgusting! Kevin was my waiter so I spoke to him about it. Specifically the rice it tastes soggy and over cooked. He told me he couldn't exchange it or give me a refund that I would have to keep it. I told them if you want to lose a customer over a $7.50 plate of food then so be it. I told him I won't come back and he said that's fine. I will never go back in that place again vain. I'm going to tell everybody I know not to go there. They just lost a devoted customer. read more

I ordered combo with a taco, "chalupa"and enchilada I requested no beans on enchilada. The chalupa looked like a burrito and the enchilada had no meat but included guacamole, tomatoes and sour cream on top. The enchilada and "chalupa came on the same plate so I assumed meat was under the enchilada. There are restaurants in the area that provide taco Tuesday.
