I'm not a big fan of Indian tacos. They're not really Indian, considering that Native people would…read morenever have seen most of the ingredients until European settlers arrived. And most places that sell Indian tacos use the cheapest version of those ingredients they can find, cheap ground beef, discount, pre-shredded cheese and iceberg lettuce. They just seem a little gimmicky. Where this place shines is their jams and jellies. Those are amazing!!! Homemade, flavorful and delicious the jams are the reason you need to swing by! We bought a few jars and with every spoonful we revel in their wonderfulness while simultaneously mourning the fact that we're one precious serving closer to an empty jar. Go get a bunch of jam! And if you accidentally have a mediocre "taco" on the way out, then so be it.

I was expecting a taco truck in a casino parking lot, but this was more like a deluxe wooden shack on private property. Prior to this, I'd only had 'Indian tacos' once before, at a Native American cultural day at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. That one time was pretty much enough to make me a fan for life. Frybread tacos are all about the frybread. Truth be told, the filings don't matter. (As I write this, I can imagine a future full of gourmet 'Indian' tacos on Instagram, but...) The tacos are filled with cheap, super basic ingredients like full fat ground beef, iceberg lettuce, beef tomatoes, and "Mexican cheese blend." It's basically "white people taco night" on frybread. To me, having grown up in extreme poverty, these tacos taste like surviving poverty. They taste like a kind of soul food that you can only understand if you've lived it. (So if I see any too-privileged people knocking stars off because these tacos are exactly what they're supposed to be, I'll be shook.) When I saw the menu, I couldn't believe how cheap it all was. I'm pretty sure they need to raise their prices. I ordered a taco and a burrito (and got completely stuffed) for less than ten bucks. The ladies who work here all seemed super sweet. It didn't take long to get my order, and, in case this isn't clear by now, it was so good. I loved it. I plan to come back with friends.

We said no and placed our order The agua fresas are not authentic and are tasted like powder mix. Chicken flautas are very dry and came with some old avocado on the side. Chicken mole was delicious- the chicken was very tender. My fish tacos were excellent and packed with flavor. The server asked if I wanted to upgrade to flour tortillas but didn't tell me how much it was. After we ate, the guy helping us said "ready for the check?". I was disappointed that he didn't ask us if we wanted dessert. We paid and left. Shortly after, I thought "why was my total before tax and tip $86 instead of $71??". Idk how much the up charge for flour tortillas was, but it definitely couldn't have been $15, and if it is, shame on them (after all they charge you for chips and salsa, and double the charge if it's to-go). No clue if they added someone's drink to my total but very annoying. This is the first time I've ever been over charged. Everything here in general is overpriced unfortunately.

It feels complete and I LOVED their aguachile here!!! Spicy, zesty, chilled, and generous with the onions and cucumbers and avocado. It took longer to come out for sure, but when I tasted how fresh it was, it totally made sense. Each bite was humongous since I needed each component to make it perfect and I am so glad they gave enough toppings to complete each bite. AVOCADO IS NEEDED FOR SURE, the creaminess calmed down the spice and it was just delectable. It was so spicy that I had some stomach pain after, but the shrimp was also definitely basically completely raw as well. Take that as you will but every shrimp was perfectly deveined and this aguachile was a 1000/10. Thank you to the cooks and cashiers here! All super nice. We asked for more tostadas and they gave it to us free of charge. When the cashier told the cook, he was like "IS IT DELICIOUS" and we shouted across the restaurant that IT IS SUPER DELICIOUS. This will be my first pick when I go back! Most people got the burritos and stuff and those looked bomb too.

They have a decent choice in appetizers, soup, and salad; their entrees consist of tacos, burritos, quesadillas and fajitas. We chose the items below and based each item off a five star scale, judging off of flavor profile. 1) Posole **** --This ain't your abuela's posole, but it was still good although it could've used a touch more salt; 2) Tortilla Soup **** -- never had potatoes in my tortilla soup before, so this was different; kept going back for more; 3) Nachos ***** -- the carnitas was flavorful with some burnt ends, and the chips were loaded with goodies: carnitas, guacamole, pinto beans, crema, cheese, olives, green onions, and chipotle sauce 4) Tacos ***--I chose chicken, carnitas and shrimp; this was average to me and also a bit of a disappointment as the tacos fell apart as soon as I picked them up, the tacos, beans, and rice were cramped onto a small dinner plate; 5) Jalapeño Margarita ***** -- jalapeño and cucumbers flavor; crisp and yummy and a tad sweet; 6) Chukchansi Margarita *** -- tasted like a regular o'l rita It would be much more pleasing to the eye of the appetizers and entrees were plated on larger plates.

The flavors and individual components of their food just comes together so well, with a balance and synergy that is rare to find. We drive up to Bishop at least a couple times a year from Los Angeles, and in addition to the backcountry, this place is one of the main reasons ther motivates us to return. Ordered a bunch of different tacos to go : lengua, pastor, cabeza, chicken. They were all very delicious and authentic. However, I still prefer the taco place Tacos Y tortas La Chiquita in Arlington VA better! Ordering took a while because he prefers cash and I didn't bring any, his credit card machine wasn't working well and it took a long time before the internet got connected to be able to pay. Also... I was a little bit worried about how clean things are, the chef was handling money, his phone, the credit card tablet with his hands, not wearing gloves or sanitizing in between... luckily I didn't get sick afterwards.
