I recently went into Cox and spoke with a very nice salesperson named Jesse. He let me drive the car I wanted no problem even though I told him I'd never driven a Mazda and wasn't buying today up front. Afterward, he simply asked if I liked it. I said I needed to drive a few more and would be in touch. I didn't get the 500 calls traditionally made by dealerships after you come by. I hate that. I shopped for a few days and almost bought another car, but this place and car stayed on my mind as I had a new standard of how I wanted to be treated. I brought my family to check it out and we still didn't get hassled as I simply got some possible numbers, shared my budget and talked about the car. We drove it, loved it and said we had to sleep on it. He was totally cool about that. The next morning, I did get a call and we scheduled a time to try and hash out a deal. When we came back, I only had an hour and a half to make it happen. I told them the bottom line of exactly what I had to have for the deal to work. They went away and got me exactly what I wanted. We signed the deal and I was about 3 minutes late for my call. Jesse, Trevor and Dan were awesome. I didn't get some BS negotiation process and was treated like I asked to be treated. Interestingly enough, I bought it last night and it's NOT ON THEIR SITE ANYMORE. I read some other things on here about that past that weren't good, but my terrible experiences happened at other dealerships. See my scathing review of Venice Honda for my bait and switch story. Several days later, I checked their site and the CAR WAS STILL ON IT. Don't tell a webmaster that it's hard to make updates either. Apparently Mazda uses a different internet. read more

My sister took her car in for an oil change. It had less than 45K miles and was in nice shape. On top of the $106 charge for the oil change, the service advisor "strongly" recommended an additional oil additive and 2 additional fuel additives for an additional $160. Once again, an unscrupulous dealership trying to take advantage of some dumb woman. Lucky for her, she isn't dumb. Unlucky for Cox, she is in the market for a new vehicle and ALL Cox dealerships are no longer in consideration. Who is the dumb one now, Randy? They sold me a truck with engine damage because they used the wrong oil. I bought a 2024 Ram 2500 with the diesel engine and they installed 15W40 oil. There is a technical service bulletin from Ram that says you cannot use 15W40 oil because it would cause engine damage. They refuse to undo the deal. They changed the oil with the correct oil and are acting like everything is fine now. After speaking with the local Ram dealership they said that the wrong oil would cause it to void the powertrain warranty and cause engine damage and potentially engine failure. They do not want to help me address the situation other than the oil change that they already did. read more

I recently had the pleasure of purchasing my new Mazda at Cox Mazda in Bradenton. I am being serious, it was a very positive, pleasurable, and even fun experience. My Elite Sale Associate Stehphen Wilkinson was excellent to deal with. I had concerns about the vehicle I was interested and Mr. Wilkinson addressed, and found solutions to each one of them. Additionally he added to my already extensive knowledge of the vehicle and Mazda. Stephen could not have been better to work with. NO HARD SELL OR PRESSURE, extremely helpful, and very nice person (yes I actually do feel that way about an automobile saleperson for the first time in my life). We came to an agreement quickly and easily. As will all salespeople Stephen had to consult with his manager and in short order that lead me to the Finance Manager Jason Hancock. I put on my suit of armor and readied for battle. Jason ask me questions about my needs and wants, went over products available, and them suggested, WHAT WAS BEST FOR ME! Again relaxed, no pressure (no chicanery), and genuinely wanted to do what was best for me. Also INCREDIBLE! I would guess probably many car buyers have had less than pleasant experiences and automoble dealerships, as I have had in the past. You spend HOURS in the showroom, being worked over at the desk, leave feeling like you were just mugged, and often without a purchase. YOU WILL NOT FIND THIS AT COX MAZDA. On Friday, February 23, 2024 I purchased a 2024 Mazda CX-50 from Cox Mazda in Bradenton. I was immediately impressed by the sales rep, Carolyn Watkins. She was knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic and actually listened to what I was looking for in potentially purchasing a new vehicle. Carolyn accomplished this without having the typical overbearing characteristics we, as consumers, have become accustomed to from Sales reps when purchasing a vehicle. Her handling of the transaction was a pleasant experience. However, I cannot say the same for the finance experience. While the Finance rep was not rude or overbearing, it was clear he was less enthusiastic of completing the finance transaction perhaps since I made it clear I did not want any of the "additional" coverages being offered. To add insult to injury, while we were in the process of obtaining Fianace for the new SUV, we then had to wait for their Finance person to go into and finish up with a staff a meeting (which I'm comfortable to say he was aware we were waiting to complete the finance transaction prior to going into the meeting). I'm guessing at Cox Mazda there is not an urgency to attend to their customer's as a priority over attending a staff meeting especially when there weren't many customers in the dealership. After purchasing the vehicle, I decided I'd like to purchase an upgraded rearview mirror for the CX-50 to include the built in remote for the garage door and auto dimming. The purchase for mirror was approximately $320 which was a little on the expensive side but a convenience option I wanted to have in the vehicle. Initially, it was thought the process would be relatively simple and I made an appointment to drop off the CX-50 the next morning (Saturday) at the service center to have it installed. I was issued a loaner while the SUV was being worked on. Later that morning I was advised the work could not be completed due to a need for a harness (for the electrical) and was given the option to either leave the SUV at the dealership where the technician can continue working on it Monday and also keep the loaner car till then. Or, I could pick up my new SUV and schedule a date for them to complete the installation. I opted to leave my SUV at the dealership so the work could be completed on Monday. on Monday, I received a message advising me the installation of the rearview mirror was completed and I could come pick up my SUV. When I arrived to pick up my SUV, I was presented with an invoice that completely caught me off guard with the total cost for installing the rearview mirror. The installation cost was $386.22..... So now I'm a bit upset that I just paid an additional $707.00 to have a rearview mirror installed in my new SUV. I paid the bill, voiced my disappointment in the outrageous amount I was charged and had I known it was going to be such a ridiculous amount, I would've opted not to have it installed, but that fell on deaf ears. When I arrived at my home, I looked at the invoice and saw the following written on the actual invoice "Estimate ---- Customer Hereby Acknowledges Receiving Original Estimate of $399.00 (+Tax)"... This infuriated me even more so because 1) it was a total false statement and 2) if I had been advised of the ridiculous estimate/price, I would not have move forward with the installation. My advice to anyone purchasing a vehicle from Cox Mazda, be sure to read everything they ask you to sign and make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing (especially any type of estimate). Stephen , the sales guy was very kind friendly and to the point. I appreciate that. We agreed on payment amount, and had to sing to make sure on loan amount, monthly payment amount and what to believe, low interest. Paperwork signed, license plates switched, credit score checked etc...ready to move on with a new car ( 9 new cars to choose from total just fyi due to economy) when this "not gentlemen" Jose comes around the corner telling us our loan interest can't be matched to what we agreed up on and it will be around 9% (with great credit lol) or we should consider putting down more money! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Like a smack in the face, doing this to your costumers, SHAME ON YOU JOSE! He told us we hurt his feeling by not understanding him and he cannot budge by any means, so we should. This conversation did NOT go well. We walked outside where my husband tried to explain Jose he can't pull this crap on us. Low class, no class, rude , embarrassing low qualification to be calling himself "manager" ( I found out later he was manager for the used cars and even that is scary). Jose needs massive training, a brand new attitude or best a different job. I told him I no longer want to speak with him but will negotiate thru Stephen , who almost lost a(nother) commission due to Jose rudeness. Turns out we did get $500 knocked of the price, AND got a loan interest lower than agreed upon first!!! We finished the paperwork and left with the actual car. The car has a scratch on the driver plastic frame they promised to replace for me. Lets wait and see.....I asked them to take of the roof rack for me which they wanted me to make an appointment for ( it took myself 5 min at home lol). Absolutely no costumer care here, no appreciation, no kindness. The worst experience buying a brand new car when one would think in this market they would be happy to sell one of 9 cars.... This dealership is pretty on the inside but has very low class people working here that are not working for but against you. Before you shop here, please safe yourself the anger and frustration and compare other dealerships and their prices and that most likely will care for your business. So I have been having TCM issues, tried to fix it myself....finally took it to the dealer. 1..completely wrote down the problem wrong..so the tech. already started out with the wrong info 2..After the diagnostics check, with the wrong info. The conclusion was either electrical or mechanical...so what does that mean? Is the technician only smart up to that point he can't actually make a decision? Why not find out what the actual problem is...? 3..While checking out I explained this to the customer service manager and he seemed to find it quite humorous. So I've been looking to buy a CX-5 Touring and today we went to dealerships looking to make a deal. Cox Mazda had multiple listings for the car I am looking at priced $24,850 which is a great deal. There was a stock number and VIN number listed as well. *INCLUDING ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE AT COX MAZDA* (as well as Autotrader, Cars.com, etc) After driving all the way to Bradenton, we get to Cox. The guy, Jesse, right off the bat seemed shady. He was trying to ask what other colors etc I wanted instead of the car I came in for. I told him I'm looking for this specific car and won't discuss anything until we've met on the bottom line price out the door for the car. Multiple times Jesse kept leaving stating that he had to look for the car as he didn't think it was there yet. (I have seen it listed for about 5 days now). We sat and waited through the games. After three times he came back and said it hasn't come off the truck yet. I asked him when it would be there as that was the car, trim and color I was looking for at a price point that I liked. He said "let me check" and left for about ten minutes. While we waited I sent my mom the VIN and told her to look for the car on the lot and Dad and I waited for Jesses return. Low and behold while Jesse was "looking" my mom found the car on the lot. A few minutes later he comes back now with his manager. The manager states it's mispriced online (again even though it's on multiple car buying websites). I say to the manager "well that's interesting because Jesse said it wasn't here yet but the VIN was listed and my mom went out and found it on your lot.. but now you're saying that it's a misprice?" They couldn't explain themselves. When we shared that we would be reporting them for false advertising the manager replied "good luck trying". Classic bait and switch. I am not a hard sell kinda person and usually will walk if someone tries to do that but Jesse knew his product inside and out and with a car we all know how important that is. Not impressed. Sales was low keyed, car is great, but dealership is on a lower plane. I have had nothing but problems with the dumbest things since buying this car. If I had known everything after the sale would be like this I might have purchased a different brand. And if you are considering a purchase here, do not, really do not purchase the paint protection they completely swirled the paint and now the only thing that helps is detailing the car. Service is always real slow, waiting area is terrible and they always try to up sell. Cox would be the last place I would buy my next car from. There are other Mazda dealers in Tampa and Sarasota. Purchased my Mazda elsewhere, unfortunately due to a lack of interest on the part of the Cox Mazda salesman that I dealt with then who is no longer with the company. But suffice it to say, I have had my vehicle serviced by Cox since its purchase and I can't say enough about the service. It's been long believed that a vehicle is best serviced at the selling dealer to get the best in service, customer and otherwise. But Cox Mazda has proved that to be false. Bobby the manager has been a hands on manager always going above and beyond to make my visit a pleasant one AND my service done right. But I must say, Travis Meeler is bar far the best service advisor ever. Out of a handful of visits to Cox Mazda Service, I had never had Travis until today, yet I knew of him because despite having my car handled by other advisors, he has always been the most reachable, the most approachable and the quickest to respond with answers to my questions or concerns. So I was extremely pleased to have Travis work with me today on an unexpected issue with my vehicle that would have rendered it undriveable, if not for Travis's assistance and the service of the mechanic who quickly worked on my vehicle and diagnosed the problem. Having little expectations I would be out before sundown, Travis was upfront and honest, giving me realistic expectations. Fortunately, my vehicle's issue was far less than what it could have been, and walaa! I was out of there in time to return to work. Clearly Travis is not just a great employee and Service Advisor, but a great co-worker, as is Chelsea, as Chelsea came to me when my car was finished, since Travis had stepped out for lunch, and gave me the rundown and closed me out so I wouldn't have to wait for his return. Teamwork of this magnitude where the customer is the one to benefit, is commendable and certainly will keep me coming back. Similarly, regardless of who my Service Advisor had been in the past, any calls made to which Travis responded, were handled and answered. Travis never made me feel like I was not his responsibility and I would have to wait on my Service Advisor. Happy to say, going forward, I will be having Travis take care of my vehicle. We turned it in on 7/21/2020 and were told that we would receive the balance owed us in 5 days, it has now been 9 days (7/30/2020). We still have not received the check and no one will call us back about when the check will be issued. Cox Mazda advertised a part for sale on their online site, parts.coxmazda.com. The part was listed for $199.62 with a non-expedited shipping charge of $25.95 to an address in the same state. The shipping was incredibly high considering the weight and size of the part and that it was traveling in-state, but I purchased the part and got a confirmation to verify the purchase in my email. I called to check on the part the next day because the car is not working and I need the part to arrive quickly. I was told by Steven that Cox Mazda cancelled the order. They cancelled the order without telling me. I would have not known that the part was not on the way if I didn't check on it and my car would still be sitting in the driveway inoperable. Steven did tell me that I could reorder the same part for $257.00. He said that they could not sell it that cheaply. I told him that they published a price and I agreed to the price they set. I also told him that I got a confirmation for the order. Steven was not rude but still refused to sell me the part for their advertised price. As it turns out, I found the part for $205.00 in Springfield Mass (https://www.balisemazda.com/parts/) and got a cheaper shipping rate to get it to my house in Florida 1 day later than Cox could have got it to me from inside Florida. The result was a savings of $4.00 total. Thank you to Balise Mazda for an effortless transaction and I guess thanks to COX. By COX cancelling the order, I saved $4.00. I will never again consider COX Mazda for anything at all. read more

I just bought my second Mazda from Cox and once again it was a very nice experience. I have to mention Stephen in sales. He has the perfect demeanor as a salesman. He is not pushy, very knowledgeable and just an easy person to talk to. The gentleman in finance Adam is also a huge asset, we never felt rushed or pressured and he was a pleasure to work with. When I went outside to pick up car the gentleman there who had just washed it was touching it up as if it was his personal vehicle, he was determined to have it perfect, I'm sorry I don't have his name but I may make the effort to find out and post it too. Anyone who takes such an effort and does his his best deserves the credit. Even the gentleman who in the office who approves the deals was the best I've seen. To finish I have to mention Jessie, another salesman, he is also cut from the same cloth as the other employees, kind, confident and knowledgeable. Changed our battery here last month for our Mazda 3 2014 GTS, their price was the best in the state by a long way. i-Eloop warning light illuminated relatively soon afterwards, due to what I am not entirely sure, possibly something causing slippage in alternator leading to a signal persuading the car to put the i-Eloop system into bypass - that's about my best guess? In any case, a quick visit today to Cox Mazda, spoke with Trevor, they dutifully took out and tested the battery, reset the error code for the i-eloop system, test drove the car and gave us the car back all clear with no fee. read more

I went in there today with the title to my BMW - prepared to buy and the salesman David S had a bad attitude. He greeted me like I was a bother to him. I told him I was prepared to buy a car today. I showed him my title. He was rude and was more about degrading me and my car that has been garage kept for years. He didn't even look at it. I told him I purchased a Cx5 last year from here and paid CASH in full. That didn't motivate him to even treat me better. I was ready to buy and this loser didn't want to sell me a car. The salesman that I had last year was off for the day. I went into the finance office and they also seemed less interested in helping me so I walked out and went to HONDA. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ORGANIZATION!!!! If I could I would have given them -5 Stars. Yes, that's a MINUS! For the record I have purchased two Mazdas from Cox in the past 16 months. First a 2019 Mazda CX-5 Touring in the Summer of 2019. The purchase experience was not extraordinary, just typical at best. I was so impressed with the Mazda product that I shopped for another, a Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring this past late December 2020. I found one on the Cox Mazda website and made an appointment to look at the car. Upon arrival they couldn't find the vehicle!!!!? They then stated it was "sold that morning". I was offered nothing else, not even a CX-9 test drive which my wife had requested. We left. The next day I followed up with Cox Mazda, since the car was still on their site. The vehicle was still available. We returned to Cox Mazda, looked at the car, and attempted to negotiate a price. All this took place at the Cox Mazda dealership. A week later I returned to try again. On this visit I was told the car of interest was now at Cox Chevrolet. Huh!!!?? We came to terms on my trade and price. When I picked up the vehicle the delivery entailed a walk to main entrance, and told my new car was out there, and handed one(1) key FOB. When I questioned only ONE FOB I got an empty and demeaning response (s)!!! I was then told I could purchase a FOB from Mazda parts for $350 - $400. Nowhere on this car's website listing or during negotiations was it ever mentioned that it came with only one FOB. I have purchased many new and pre-owned cars, always with full disclosure. Not at Cox. As for a member, per website, of the Cox Family being embedded in the Organization, good luck speaking to one. There is a major "firewall" protecting them from their customers. On many counts this group plays a big time "shell game", hang on to your wallet when shopping with them. In the future I will not purchase a vehicle from any Cox dealership. Highly recommend Cox Mazda. Tim was the best! I was a first-time, single female car buyer and had already been to a couple sleazy Miami dealerships. When I found Cox Mazda on Autotrader, and they had the exact model and color Mazda that I wanted, though it was 4 hours away, on the other coast of Florida, I was desperate. In need of a car that weekend, and at the end of my rope frustrated with the sales schemes and shady tactics from the slimy salesmen/women in the Miami area, I gave them a call. In order to appreciate how good Cox is you need to know what I was dealing with in Miami. The Miami area car salesmen and women didn't listen to me, they lied, and wouldn't provide me anything in writing or printed. Most of them didn't even have the cars that they had advertised on their own sites. Nor were their prices on the cars in the lot or printed warranties when you arrived. They were like, 'so, you saw it, you drove it, you want it?' In the end, I was just telling them all to screw themselves because I was a serious buyer and they were treating as a child. They changed their tune as soon as I told them I was ready to go with Cox Mazda because I've got a printed quote for 20% less than what they were offering and had already put a deposit to buy the car next day. The Miami dealers began begging for me to come back, promising that they would give me a better deal, free oil changes, blah blah blah. But still nothing in writing, of course. Even when I was offered a measly $1k lower quote from a dealer 30 min away, I went forward with Cox Mazda anyway. Mostly because I didn't want to reward the Miami losers for being so sneaky and shady, but also partially because Cox Mazda provided a top-level experience from our first phone call through til weeks after! Their customer service is one you would expect probably from a luxury import car dealership. I felt that they were organized, professional, honest, understanding, knew their car inventory and car specs inside and out. No games, no lies, no tricks, scams, bait and switch, just what you see is what you get, and 'let me tell you all about it.' It was worth the total 8-hour drive to purchase the car through them. The amount of communication and use of text, email, and phone was perfect. I put the deposit down the same day I spoke to them over-the-phone for the first time and bought the car the next day because I got such a good, unexpected feeling from their customer journey and touch points. I was right about the feeling because they sent me a thank you note a week after with chewy chocolate chip cookies. How sweet! Place is fine if you're buying a car. Just don't ever service your vehicle here! They charge you $100 just to plug their ecu reader in (Which they don't tell you in advance)! $100 just to tell you your a/c is cracked!?
