Small restaurant with limited seating is the main downfall- would love to see this restaurant expand to a larger location (with more places to sit and better decor). The traditional margarita is delicious- strong and not filled with sugar. My favorite tacos are the ground beef soft tacos on flour tortillas (always open to switching and swapping ingredients for you). The queso fundido is smooth and melted, served with crunchy salty chips. I have also really enjoyed the chicken quesadilla in the past!! Finally got to Cowboy Taco. Friend got chicken tacos, 2 for $5.99. She said they were very good. I got the birria tacos 2 for $8.99 and an order of chips/salsa $4.99. The tacos were stuffed full of meat and the taste was yummy. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the consume it was sweet and I ended not using it. I will definitely return the nachos looked amazing. I got the Burria burrito today to go to share with my toddler for dinner. Underneath whatever cheese they melt on top, there was a metal staple (like you would use for paper), my son almost choked on it. It's is not a bone, it is legitimately a metal staple. I know the difference, trust me. I have a picture of it. Not happy. Really a shame, the food is pretty good, just obnoxiously small potions, no chips all though you get guacamole on the side, barely any of the birria sauce. But definitely really good tasting food up to the staple potion of the burrito. Got the quesadilla as well which was good, but definitely not a normal quesadilla size, again no chips which is really annoying when you don't feel like eating spoonfuls of guac by itself. read more

Domaine, your local food critic was last at Cowboy Tacos. In disguise, of course! Ordered cowboy tacos via takeout. Service over the phone was friendly, even though I had read the menu extensively. I still wanted to make sure of customer service quality. I found that they were very pleasant, explaining their selections of tacos and how their system works. The marketing campaign had good quality. Interior quality once I arrived to the spot in Lake Placid was nice, albite a little bit small for the franchise. Seating spaces had tables for two and four with about about eight tables. All the tables but two were full. As I waited for my order inside I noticed that several people had come in for takeout orders, and there was a DoorDash delivery that was in progress as well. Two orders of fish tacos and two orders al pastor tacos were taken. Normally al Pastor tacos are a favorite for this critic with pineapple added to the order. This seems to make for a very interesting combination with the seasoned pork. However, in the end for both me and my eating companion, the fish tacos won us over and Al Pastor this time came in second. Of all the local hotspots and recommended places for tacos by the Hispanic and Latino populations of greater Sebring, cowboy tacos was rather disappointing and only claimed a three out of five stars. This was due to inconsistencies in the quantities of various ingredients, added to the tacos to harmonize the flavor of a good group of ingredients. The tortilla had the taste, consistency, and texture of pita bread, just not as thick, but certainly similar taste and texture as mentioned. As well the al pastor tacos, lacked seasoning on the meat. You could not taste the pineapple, and no lime wedges were included in the order. This made for a very boring experience with cowboy tacos. The fish tacos on the other hand were very good however, that thick tortilla shell sucks the flavor straight out of the taco. heavy amounts of fats and carbohydrates will often mask the flavor of well seasoned meat or fish... whatever the seasoning and flavor is. With the serving of two tacos per an order at five dollars and change; you're currently paying inflation (a.k.a. "the stupid tax"), and a rate of about two dollars per taco. Their marketing gimmick is to upscale the humble taco and serve something that the community has yet to have, a "gourmet taco". As marketing gimmicks go, we have gone from adjectives such as old-fashioned flavor, to down home taste. Then marketing changed and an extra dollar was tacked on for words like gourmet and now artisan. I'm afraid cowboy taco is more interested in marketing a taco in theory that is said to be sublime and an upscale version... "The artisan taco". However, understand you're paying for marketing. Quality & quantity is where it matters in food. The hard-working people of Sebring, Lake Placid, & Avon Park do not have time for the gimmick of the day. They're wanting to put their hard earned dollars into something that will, please the palette, widen the eyes, & not shrink the wallet. Not leave you walking away with a frown on your face, not to mention a partially empty stomach. Therefore, we've decided to leave cowboy tacos with three generous stars we hope the chain will continue to grow and improve in order to stay in business. It will be their responsibility to switch marketing for the quality product that the locals seek. read more

I would definitely eat here again. Delicious flavor. Birria was a little heavy on the cinnamon or nutmeg. But I still ate them, so still good. This place is very expensive. The portion sizes are way too small for the prices and the food doesnt taste authentic at all. The ambience of the restaurant was cute and cozy. I ordered the steak quesadillas and my boyfriend ordered the steak tacos. We also ordered chips and queso and a milkshake and everything was about $43. The queso tasted good but it only came with a very small amount and about 12 chips. The quesadilla was a normal size, however the tacos that were about $9 came out and were smaller than my palm. My 200lb 6'2 boyfriend was not filled up at all and for $9 you would think u could get more food. It came with two very small tacos and 6 chips. The strawberry milkshake didnt really taste like a milkshake but more like strawberry milk. If I want tacos I will go to Avon Parks La Yerbita and get double the amount for half the price. They also taste much more authentic than this joke of a restaurant. read more
