Butcher Box - Worms in the salmon!

I thought I had found the perfect grass fed meat subscription service. But, it was short lasting…read more We signed up in late November and got our first box in January. One of the packages had torn exposing the meat inside. Disappointing but figured it was a one off. Second package arrived in February. Again ripped packaging. This time it was two packages of meat that had to be thrown out. This time I reached out and they offered a small credit or a replacement of the meat. I took the replacement. Third package arrived in March. AGAIN torn packaging. This time it was sliced open. Obviously they have a distribution problem. It seems like this is a common issue. At this point I don't trust the meat. It's a health hazard and I'm done. Canceling my subscription. I definitely would not recommend them.

*I'm a Pro Butcher Boxer*…read more This review is over 5 years in the makings... When the pandemic started in March 2020, my Mom was a customer and told me about ButcherBox...and I've never looked back. I've been a Subscription Service Member ever since and order a "hand-picked customized box" with 6-selections, every 2 to 4 months, for $169. Through the years it's been $149 and $159 until last year. But $169 for a 6-selection box is still a great value. Just make sure you have enough freezer space to store the items. ButcherBox only deals with farms and vendors who are humanely raised & environmentally safe, and never uses any hormones or chemicals in any of their products. ButcherBox is the largest meat and fish brand to be named a Certified B Corporation, As a healthy eater and ex-vegan & pescatarian, all this is very important to me because I care about what I put into my body, where it comes from, and how & where it's sourced. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of products they provide. Delivery is always free and delivered within an estimated time-frame, from GLS in secure boxes packed with dry-ice. As much as I enjoy & embrace the chores of grocery shopping, having a subscription to ButcherBox saves me time and money. And I find most of their products are far superior than what's available in most stores. If I had to pick some things I cannot live without for the past 5 years, ButcherBox is definitely in my Top 10. I cook and eat most meals at home and rely mostly on their fish (you read that right) Tho their various types of pasture-raised organic chicken and grass-fed beef or burgers, lamb, and pork selections are all great and available too, I gear mostly towards their fish because I don't eat a lot of meat. I love their premium quality fish: Flash-freeze Wild-Caught Sockeye Salmon comes from Bristol Bay, Alaska. Flash-freeze Sustainable Atlantic Salmon is a product of Norway. Wild-Caught Sablefish (a fancier name for black cod) comes from the Bearing Sea and Gulf of Alaska. Wild-Caught Scallops harvested in Georges Bank (off the coast of New England) are all staples in my weekly & monthly dinner rotation. I even got my wife hooked on some of these items. They also have amazing wild-caught sliced smoked salmon...and delicious gluten-free chicken nuggets too (not eaten together of course) which are 2 of my favorite reoccurring "add-ons." And I enjoy their dairy-free black bean burgers and brisket blend smashburgers too. As a member & subscriber of ButcherBox, you have options of dozens of add-ons and discounts (and flash sales too) that are not available in the standard subscription boxes. There's no obligation to signing up other than ordering your first box. You chose whatever billing date/delivery date you desire. You can put your next or future box on hold for as long as you want, and can cancel your subscription at anytime. But why would you want to miss out on all of this? It's fun to build your own box, add items on sale in between your next box, and try new things too. In the past 5 years they've introduced dozens of new products. If you don't like or enjoy anything you receive or not satisfied with any of their products? They have THE BEST customer service & team I've encountered in today's world. They actually strive on costumer service as much as they do their products. Their Founder/CEO, Mike Salguero, is hands-on with everything pertaining to the company and its customers. They actually treat you like family & friends. I've encountered some quality issues and mistakes with some orders through the years, but ButcherBox always offers solutions to remedy the problem. I've experienced some positive changes they've made during the past 5 years, which proves to me they truly care about quality control. They also recently started a rewards program that allows you to earn points that's converted into credits for future orders. I've referred 3 friends and family member to ButcherBox and they all have become subscribers after their initial boxes. I have no skin in the game here and getting nothing out of boasting about ButcherBox and sharing my experiences, other than expressing my thoughts into the Yelpshere...and how it can potentially benefit your life and healthy lifestyle too. Deciding and figuring out what to cook and eat for dinner & lunch, nearly everyday, has never been easier. If you're still here, reading and interested, check out their website and give them a call to ask all the questions you desire...determine for yourself...and then make the conscience decision to incorporate ButcherBox into your tummy, heart and life. {{{Big-High-Five}}} Grandslam 1/2 a Decade Fan

The store was clean and spacious. Plenty of good looking sausages and meats to bring home for cooking, but I came to grab some lunch. I got the prosciutto lovers and was happy with my choice. The bread was soft and a good texture. The sandwich had prosciutto, fresh mozz, basil leaves, tomatoes, and was seasoned with salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil. Was it the most amazing sandwich I'd ever tasted? Nah, it was standard, but for less than $13 for a sandwich that was longer than my forearm, it was a fantastic deal. Service was speedy and the two folks who helped me out were friendly. There were two people in front of me, but I was in and out in about 5 minutes. Looking forward to trying their other sandwiches!

The folks behind the counter are sweet and accommodating. Most importantly, THE FOOD!!! We have the turkey blue cheese, the prosciutto lover, and the corned beef. Yum across the board, but the prosciutto was exceptional. The prices, especially for the quality and quantity, are much better than a typical sub shop ($8.50 for a sandwich in this neighborhood is straight up cheap these days and I could only finish half because it was so big!). Easy parking at the end of the block. Will come back and back and back. Will try the tuna next.
