Eating at Independent Brewing Company.
Christina S.

I'm reviewing Cowboy Eats based on their food truck at Independent Brewery. F ordered the Italian Sausage sandwich from the food truck. It was a perfect compliment to the rye beer I was drinking. The fries were nice and crispy despite the hot, sticky, humid day. The service was quick and friendly, too. We're glad we biked over it was worth the trip.

Pot roast sandwich was okay and gets 3 stars. The potato salad side was a sample portion and besides ticking off customers, gets only one star. Next time, I will do whatever food truck is not this one. I don't recommend cowboy eats...

Ordered the pit Turkey sandwich which tasted like old lunch meat on a bun. Second was the fried chicken sandwich that was massively over cooked and the chicken then tasted like rubber. Finally my daughter got the kids grilled cheese and fries. Fries were cold and hard like they came from the bottom of the deep fryer and they used the butt end of the bread with white American cheese. Overpriced and under delivered. I should also mention I was originally concerned when the woman was hand keying in the digits of my CC. Stuff happens but how do you run a food truck like this?

We had a fresh assortments to snack on including a chocolate fountain. I got permanent jewelry with one of the vendors and I made the most beautiful cheese board. Dana's step by step instructions make it so anyone can make the board of your dreams. I look forward to many more events here. Bathroom rating:5/5

We were there for a class, and the entire time I was thinking how fun it would be to have a date night here. My paramour was with me at this event, so take my recommendation with some confidence. We had a great time. Dana and her mom are AMAZING. They are fun and attentive and encouraging. Dana does a great job of teaching how to make staircases out of cheese, and salami flowers. At this point I feel like most of us have gone to Aldi and bought all the ingredients to make a decent charcuterie board, but you will totally learn how to take your boards to the next level, by paying attention to color and where the product was made, with one of these classes. The space is great, too. You can also get wine and sandwiches and cheeses, etc in the store - because it's important to know your ingredients before you introduce them to others. Two spacious, gender neutral bathrooms made me ever-so-happy. More than enough room to fit my entire chair into the space, including my careperson. Love this. Go check them out.

Decided to have a little "celebration" for a successful year end at our business. The good - attentive service. Called ahead and they held a table for 15 min until we arrived. Friday and it was packed. Cocktails good. Food, I've got some concerns. Appetizers - ordered cheesesteak eggrolls and octopus. Eggrolls were excellent. Octopus thought, I'm used to the presentation at Bacco's so I could do without it being cut into tiny pieces and buried in sauce. Salad - shared the kale salad. Great flavor but the ( wife's pet peeve when I serve it ), the kale was in very large chunks, could use a bit more chopping. Main Course - wife had stroganoff and I had the NY strip. I don't know what it is about Harford County but it's the last time I'll try to get a proper NY strip here. I should have known when it was only $52 on the menu. Steak & Main advertises "best steaks around" and serves the same 1/2" thin cut slice that looks like it came from Ponderosa but they charge $65 which is a ripoff. I like my steak rare and with a steak this thin, it's impossible but at least they were close. Again, stuff all over the top of the meat, a bit too much. Stroganoff - solid!! Dessert- Bananas Foster / solid!! My only gripe is the steak. We will be back for sure but I'm done trying to get one out and will just continue getting a nice cut from a butcher and treating myself at home.

This place is great for anything Italian on their menu - cold cuts , pasta dishes , pizza - all top…read morenotch . Deli sandwiches are great , huge portions of everything . The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is for 2 reasons . The fries are always little itty bitty broken greesy bits . Like they are giving you the bottom of the fryer - but they are always like this . The flavor would be good if it was a full fry and larger cut , but they use skinny fries that absorb too much grease and fall apart in the fryer . The 2nd reason for 4 stars is they do not know how to cook a soft shell crab. These people know Italian and how to put seafood in pasta , but they don't know Baltimore style seafood at all . I ordered a soft shell sandwich as a special and it was the worst soft shell I have ever attempted to eat. The saddest thing is I could tell they started with a good size heavy soft shell crab. But then they proceeded to ruin it by dipping it in some horrible thick doughy hush puppy batter and flash deep frying it ! Absolute crying shame what they did to that poor crab . I couldn't even eat it - it was this gargantuan hush puppy of fried batter dough on a little flimsy hamburger bun . It was such a mess and falling apart , I abandoned trying to eat it as a sandwich and went in with knife and fork . . When I peeled away the disgusting peppery batter so I could hopefully find the soft crab down in there somewhere - I still. couldn't eat it because the shell was so tough I couldn't even chew and swallow it . This is because it is deep fried at too high a temp and too fast for the poor crab buried in the huge dough ball to have time to cook properly. When a soft shell isn't cooked at low heat for a long time , it doesnt develop its flavor , the shell doesn't get crisp and papery . You might as well eat it raw .. to rub salt in the wound , they put it on a bun instead of just white bread and slathered it in aioli !! Gah ! Don't go trying to put an Italian sauce on a Baltimore dish !! Stay in your lane with the Italian food .. it doesn't belong on a soft shell crab. Neither does any kind of batter ! The ONLY way to cook a soft shell crab is sautéed LOW and SLOW naked in just butter on a cast iron until the shell is flakey crisp . Maybe just a light toss in plain flour if you have to cuz that's the way your momma did it , but no flour is better . Flour holds the grease flavor and takes away from the delicate flavor of the crab . It should only be served on plain untoasted white bread . White bread is best because it is flavorless - you don't want Italian bread or a roll or bun , because they have some flavor and you don't want anything , even the flavor of bread competing with the delicate crab flavor . Tomato and lettuce and mayo or tartar should be served on the side because again , not everyone wants those competing with the crab flavor. Honestly , what was done to this crab should be illegal in Maryland . The dough coating was inedible because the flavor of it was so bad and so full of greese . . So disappointing. If you need an example of a decent soft crab , order one at Pappas. Even though they toss in a little flour , they still sautee it correctly . And serve it correctly . I hope the Brookside owners read this and learn from it , because I do like the rest of their menu . From now on , I will remember where I am and stick to the caprese sub and prisciutto and mozzarella sub and save the Baltimore delicacies for places where I know it will be done right .
