    Double scoop $6.75
    Cathrin P C.

The quality of the ice cream is comparable to Baskin Robbins. Good but not great. I ordered a double scoop of matcha and heaven -- which is chocolate, caramel and peanut butter swirl. I think the name sounds more exotic than the actual taste. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. $6.75 for double scoop. I also felt rushed in deciding what to order. Probably won't be back. Especially since there's gelato just down the street!!

There aren't too many ice cream spots along Laurel St., but found this one. It's actually a combination of a coffee shop and ice cream shop in one shared with Plantation Coffee Roastery. For ice cream, I opted for a scoop of Green Tea in a Mini Sugar Cone ($3.00). I definitely liked that they had a mini version since I can almost never finish my ice cream at most places. Not too shabby of a spot when you need your ice cream fix. They do offer a good variety of flavors, but I don't think the taste was all that. My green tea ice cream had chunks of something in it that I can't pinpoint and the flavor was lacking. It still satisfied me in the end, so it works when you have a craving.

This place is the classic ice cream place!! Reasonable pricing in an upscale restaurant area. I love the staff and the Turkish delights in the front! My kids were thrilled with the flavors (bubble gum and rainbow sherbet) very happy to visit here.

Man, if I lived in the area I would come here all the time. I've been here a few times for their ice cream and it always hits the spot. There are a ton of interesting flavors and I haven't been disappointed yet. The employees are super sweet and friendly. The store itself isn't the most hip and it does seem a little out of date, but who really cares about that as long as the ice cream is good! It's definitely more of a casual place. There are a bunch of tables indoors and a few right outside the door.

Fuck this watery ass bowl I paid for it just to spill the moment the lid came off it tasted decent but might at well get a damn Smoothie.

On a warm, sunny day while walking down the streets of San Carlos, there was no question that ice cream would fit in perfectly with my afternoon. My friend and I marveled at the ice cream flavors offer. After tasting a few flavors, I went with the vibrant, purple lavender ice cream. My friend went with the strawberry lemonade and raspberry sherbert. We headed out the door and decided to do some people watching outside. We watched families stroll by, pets & owners, children. Surprisingly, looking in was quite a treat as well. Cute families with small children consuming ice cream that ended up mostly on their faces. Oh, how I love people watching! The ice cream itself was pretty good as well, although I have had better. The lavender ice cream was good for the first few bites, but I tired of it rather quickly. My friend's sherbert and ice cream was very pleasant and refreshing. Overall, I loved the experience here and would love to try more flavors. Cowabunga is certainly a great weekend, sunny day visit.

So, we've been coming here about 4 times now. Always very enthusiastic about the service. Apart from last time. Did they change owners? The people helping me this time were rushing us, not patient and not friendly at all. Next time we'll check out who's behind the counter before we go in. The ice cream is yummy, but it's nice if you are treated like royal when ordering, and not like dirt.

"Cowabunga...I found an awesome deal!" After my mediocre lunch at Klutch burgers, I walked around Laurel Street for a little redemption. First I ran into the Nothing Bundt Cake bakery-too crowded. Next, I walked into Vanilla Moon Bakery-maybe. Then I walked into Harmony Frozen Yogurt-too many kids. Finally I saw a fat sign placed in the middle of the sidewalk in front of Cowabunga Creamery. Sign: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/FzwXpeO3jOqrw-iM8vqeJQ?select=b6qVxKN5zsCX88SwKMDgSw#YD7Pd8VYbDGW6VHoRl3gZg With surfboards, ukuleles, garlands and other Hawaiian decors, the spacious creamery has the ambience of Hawaii (Aloha!). I did order the small Cookie & Cream Frozen Yogurt for $2.00. I placed my order to the dude. But he told me to wait until he released a tray of freshly baked Chocolate chip cookies from the oven. After pulling that hot tray out, he swirled me that special fro-yo. Then afterwards, I also asked him to get me one of those freshly baked cookies too for another $.75. He gave me the freshly baked cookie within minutes of releasing from the oven. After I got my frozen treat and cookie, I was sitting at the table. The fro-yo has a creamy and intense chocolaty taste. For $2.00, the treat was a pretty generous size too. And the fresh cookie was gooey and burned my tongue-in a good way. My treat: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/FzwXpeO3jOqrw-iM8vqeJQ?select=b6qVxKN5zsCX88SwKMDgSw#b6qVxKN5zsCX88SwKMDgSw For a total of $2.75 for both of those treats, you can't beat that. What a "sweet" way to cool you off in San Carlos!

Yeah, they are finally open! The place rocks! It will definitely increasingly become a center piece and magnet for the community for kids and adults alike. Tried and true flavors along with lots that took some convincing for us to try, but glad we did. Besides all the ice creams they have frozen yogurt and several ice cream substitutes from coconut as well as soy which make you not feel like you are giving up anything. Surfer motif is a blast from the surf board counter top and kids table, wall decorations. Additional touches of surfing cows here and there are a hoot. The owners are local. Their efforts to contribute to the community show through in everything they do. Kids parties, grabbing and going, sharing a sundae or relaxing over a cup of cofee, Cowa Bunga is a great place and a center piece of San Carlos's downtown.

Come here if you want icy ice cream.

They have seasonal flavors, but none of them seemed appealing to me so I decided to go with the double chocolate and stracciatella in a cone. If you get a cone, you get the choice of dark or milk chocolate drizzle, and if you get a cup you get a little waffle chip dipped in chocolate to top your gelato. They also have various premade gelato pops and mini ice cream cones which are nice options. Of the two flavors I got, the double chocolate was my favorite! It was extremely rich and had a strong chocolate flavor. I got two flavors, but it seemed a bit uneven and I got more of the chocolate than stracciatella but I didn't mind. The drizzle of dark chocolate was a great addition, and love that it hardened and added some texture! It's a small store with a few indoor seats, but it gets crowded really quick. But definitely a great sweet treat after dinner!

The double chocolate was rich and delicious, but the rose lychee was lacking flavor. There was no taste of rose or the lychee and it just tasted like vanilla with a tint of pink dye. I really liked how the wafer dipped with chocolate (milk or dark option) was included with the gelato. It was a nice touch. I do wish the gelato flavors were more flavorful overall, especially since no sample tasting is allowed and choices had to be made based solely on appearance and description. The flavor selection also felt somewhat limited, with not many fruity options available, something that would be nice as summer heat is quickly approaching

My partner likes the BBQ one. I often get the Hawaiian one, sometimes the Sour Cow, or the Tuscan. The Big Belly is really big, with lots of ingredients. Note: We usually get ours To Go. The apple caramel dessert crepe arrives cut up into squares, which was surprising. Normally the plain chocolate one we get isn't cut up. This resulted in a bit of a mess when my partner didn't hold the container flat me time. Service is so-so. Definitely order in advance if you can, or you may wait a bit. Ambiance is terrible indoors. Only a couple of small tables and more of a "pick up at the counter vibe." They have a nice outdoor seating area though, if the weather is good enough for it. Parking is usually decent if you park in the lot right next to the restaurant. It's sometimes easiest to enter that lot from Walnut, the street parallel to Laurel, though. You get to it from Olive, going around the back of Bianchini's. The outdoor seating areas and proximity to Bianchini's market make parking on Laurel a bit dicey. I tried the round waffle things once, and wasn't that impressed. Seemed a bit dry. Keep meaning to try the gelato but never have. And I don't drink boba tea, so I can't comment on that. They do stay open later than the other nearby boba place though, so if that's your cup of tea (ha!) then it's an option later in the evening. A solid place, if not the best crepes I've had.
